What Dry Dog Food Do Vets Recommend?
Answer

8 out of 10 veterinarians recommend Royal Canin Dry Dog Food for your dogs with food sensitivities. The dry food is a balanced and complete meal, easily digestible, and tasty for dogs having food sensitivities. The omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, and EPA present in the dry food provide a shiny and healthy coat and skin. Royal Canin has a specialist veterinarian nutritionist in their staff who is responsible for formulating the diet ingredients. It ensures that dry dog food has high quality and an ideal balance of nutrition as per your dogโ€™s requirements. Vets are more comfortable recommending food that involves a vet nutritionist who has a deep understanding of your petโ€™s nutrition.

Can Dogs Live on Dry Food Only?
Answer

Yes, we have millions of examples of dogs leading a comfortable and healthy life on dry foods only. The important thing is choosing the best dry food that is ideal for your dog. For this, you can consult the options of dry food with your veterinarian. In the initial days, commercial dry dog food was the only option available in the market. It was only after 30 years that wet food for dogs came into existence. It clearly shows that dogs were doing well consuming dry food and also had happy and healthy lives. So, even if you feed your dog 100% dry food, they will still have a happy life. The vet food industry has also seen lots of changes since the 1890s. More emphasis was given on pet nutrition, and better ingredients were included to make it healthier. Almost every dry dog food now has a preferred quantity of fats and proteins, which are very important for your dogโ€™s health. Also, with brands like Royal Canin, who have a specialist vet nutritionist in their team, you get a perfect blend of nutrition and a balanced meal for your pet. So, there are no requirements for additional dog supplements over Royal Canin Adult PR dry dog food.

How Much Food Must a Dog Eat?
Answer

The right amount of quality food is an important factor for your dog's health throughout their lives. Feeding dogs too little or too much will only lead to some health issues. The best way to find out the ideal amount of food is by consulting a veterinarian. He may ask questions related to your dog's breed, activities, age, and weight to come to a diet conclusion. Based on these answers, he will let you know the quantity of food you must give your dog daily. Remember that the quantity of food varies for different dogs. Every commercial dog food has a diet chart mentioned in its product description. Refer to the feeding chart, which specifies the total daily feed for your dogs. Hence, if it says 2 cups of feed for an adult dog, it needs to be divided into two meals of 1 cup each daily.

What Food is Better for Dogs Dry or Wet?
Answer

There is no direct answer when considering a wet or dry meal for dogs. The important thing is that your dog should get a balanced diet with ideal nutritional levels to fulfill your petโ€™s requirements. Royal Canin offers both wet and dry food formulas which provide a balanced and completed diet for your dogs. Both wet and dry dog foods have their benefits. An ideal solution can be to combine both types of dog foods. It will not only satisfy their taste buds but also fulfill their health requirements.

Can You Mix Wet and Dry Dog Food?
Answer

Yes, you can give a combination of wet and dry food to your pet dogs. Both dry and wet dog foods have their own merits and demerits. Hence, mixed feed is an ideal solution to encourage dogs to eat. By feeding a combination of both dry and wet food we offer our pets some variety, where they experience different tastes and textures. It encourages our pets to have their meals without any tantrums.

How Old Are Dogs When They Eat Adult Dog Food?
Answer

Ideally, it is between six to twelve months when your dog becomes grown up to consume adult dog food. It is the usual age when your pup starts growing to adult height and requires adult dog meals. Neutering and spaying also happen during this time, which is also a reason for switching to adult dog foods.

What to Feed Dogs if You Have No Dog Food?
Answer

In the absence of Dog Food, you should prepare and give a meal that is rich in complex carb and lean proteins. The good thing is there are lots of things that we can easily get from our pantry. You can give peanut butter, grains like farina, couscous, brown rice, low-sodium broth, and unprocessed oatmeal. You can also give canned foods like carrots, peas, corn, and chicken. You can also feed your dog with cooked food items like sweet or white potatoes, eggs, and lean meat (like turkey, beef, or chicken). However, raw vegetables (like broccoli, corn, and carrots) and fresh fruits (like pears, strawberries, and blueberries) are also good dog food alternatives.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7-day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet's digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

D
She likes it fine!

Veterinarian put her on this; she likes it enough to where we use it for treats too! We had some concern because the pellets are HARD....you can't break them with your fingers. I thought she might break teeth but Vet explained, they are formed to break apart with teeth-bites--something about physics. Her teeth are fine. She's a 14 lb. Lhasapoo.
