The liver isn't just the largest organ inside your dog's body. It's also one of the most important. Denosyl is a supplement that helps keep your dog's liver healthy. It is often difficult to diagnose liver disease in dogs as symptoms are mild or even non-existent. If your dog is acting weaker than usual, throwing up, maintaining a reduced appetite, or having seizures, they may be fighting a type of liver disease. Talk to your veterinarian about Denosyl and find out what it can do for your pooch.

Denosyl contains SAMe (s-adenosylmethionine) to help support the liver health of cats and dogs and may support brain health in dogs. It is available in enteric-coated tablets for both dogs and cats. Denosyl Liver Health Supplements are brought to you by Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences, the #1 veterinarian recommended supplement company. *Source: Survey conducted among small animal veterinarians who recommended animal supplements.

What is Denosyl Used For?
Answer

The organ that helps in the detoxification of the body is the liver. It also helps in synthesizing proteins and the production of bile and other necessary chemicals to smoothen digestion. Therefore, for the well-being of your pet, it is crucial to keep their liver healthy. The toxin removal from the body is possible with the liver itself. The liver heavily depends upon the antioxidant glutathione for toxin filtration. If the glutathione level is low, it might harm cats as well as a dog. If the liver is not functioning with ease, it leads to deterioration of the overall health and can cause seizures, ataxia, and hemolytic anemia. Save your pet from the deficiencies of glutathione. The main aim of Denosyl is to avert glutathione levels going down and make sure proper functioning of the liver. However, the objective of increasing the level of glutathione does not mean adding up too many antioxidants to your dog's diet.

Is Denosyl a Prescription Drug?
Answer

Can You Crush Denosyl?
Answer

Is Denosyl the Same as Denamarin?
Answer

Denosyl and Denmarin are not the same, the main difference of both the medications is that Denamarin has a second ingredient that is not there in Denosyl. Silybin is the ingredient present in Denamarin that gives more liver support. It helps in promoting a better functioning of the liver in conjunction with SAM-e. It is clear that out of the two medications, Denamarin is a much powerful supplement needed for pets that demands more liver support.

Can a Dog Recover from Liver Damage?
Answer

The liver gets infected by viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites. Generally, viral disease related to your dog's liver is transmissible canine hepatitis. It leads to scarring and inflammation. It is a disease that gets prevented with vaccination. Your dog will give you signs of a liver issue. You will notice several symptoms in your dog such as loss of weight, no stability in walking, appetite loss, frequent urination, the color of tongue and eyes turning yellow. The liver is efficient enough to regenerate on its own and build healthy and new cells. But an increasing number of dead tissues often results in cirrhosis and scarring. Most of the symptoms are treatable with the help of medicines that help in the proper function of the liver. A change in diet also reduces the pressure on the liver.

Is Denosyl Safe for Dogs?
Answer

Yes, Denosyl is safe for the dog. It is a nutritional supplement that reduces the number of liver issues like liver disease. Denosyl helps in the hepatic glutathione levels in dogs. Dogs and cats can tolerate Denosyl very well, and it is safe for them to consume.

How Do You Give Denosyl?
Answer

Denosyl is available as chewing tablets, and dogs of all sizes can take it. The tablets need to be given an hour before they feed on an empty stomach. In this way, Denosyl gets well absorbed. There might be some owners who will find difficulty in giving the tablets to their dogs directly. For these kinds of dogs, the best is to mix the tablet in a small diet. Your dog will end up consuming it.

How Long Can a Dog Take Denosyl?
Answer

For clinical health, the dog needs 20 mg per kg per day of Denosyl for a period of one and half months. It never gives any negative effect while taking the tablets of Denosyl, and the dog remains in good health. According to the pharmacokinetic study, when a fasting dog takes Denosyl, the plasma level shoots up, not beyond 4 hours.

K
Great Supplement
VERIFIED PURCHASER

Our current vet suggested my little guy take Denosyl because he had a particular liver value that had been out of whack for a couple of years and was getting worse with each testing. At the time I am writing this review, Riley has been on this supplement for about 3 years and has not seen any significantly bad change in that liver value since. So yes! This supplement does work! If your vet suggests it, I urge you to seriously think about giving it to your pet. It may be just the thing your pet needs to help him live a healthier, happier and, most importantly, longer life with you.

Great product
VERIFIED PURCHASER

We've been using this product almost daily since our senior schnauzer was diagnosed with liver problems several years ago. It's the single treatment that has been recommended by multiple vets. The result has been a gradual improvement in the values of the blood tests used to monitor his liver and for him it's a daily treat he enjoys. That's a win-win in my book.

We think it's working
VERIFIED PURCHASER

So far, so good. Though difficult to "trick" our Schi-tzu into swallowing the pill, it seems to be working. Chester's latest reading by the vet indicates progress and improvement in our dog's liver problem.

Great savings compared to vet prices
VERIFIED PURCHASER

I took my senior dog in for dental cleaning in Feb 2014. The vet performed preliminary blood work where is was found her liver levels were elevated and they would not be able to put her under for the teeth cleaning. We immediately started her on Denosyl, liver food (wet and dry). She would not eat the wet food. No matter what I tried. I can't say for sure that this medicine is helping her (she's doing o.k.) but I do know if I had been purchasing it thru PetCareRx for the last five months it would have saved me tons of money every month instead of purchasing it at the vet. Supposedly this vet is a low cost clinic.

Great for Rabbits Too

My 9 1/2 year old rabbit has liver problems from Anesthesia when he needed his teeth trimmed. The vet said to try this and it has helped! I thought I would try online as it is cheaper. Sorry vet! : )

Cat with seizures

My cat has occasional seizures and needs to take phenobarbital, which puts a strain on her liver. The Denosyl helps her liver to function properly and works great. She has not had any seizures in a long time.

Anything To Keep Our Little Man Going!

Our 10 year old Boston Terrier, Peatie, has had many health challenges in the past year: thyroid issues, seizures, liver issues. At one point about 4 months ago our vet recommended Denosyl because his bile acid tests indicated his liver wasn't functioning well. We purchased his first pack from the vet and almost fell out of the chair at the price. I immediately started searching online for other purchasing options and came across PetCareRx. Great price, fast delivery. As for Mr. Peatie, he's doing good.
