K-BroVet was developed to provide a reliable source of potassium bromide that can be dispensed in the clinic, a convenience for both the client and the veterinarian. Potassium bromide has long been recognized as an excellent anti-convulsive for the alleviation of canine seizure disorders and is often considered the first option for dogs with idiopathic epilepsy. K-BroVet has also been formulated with B vitamins to support healthy neurological function.


K-BroVet can be used in conjunction with other therapies, including Phenobarbital, or alone, as the sole anti-convulsive. Unlike Phenobarbital, bromide is not a hepatotoxin, making it the treatment of choice for dogs with liver damage.

Potassium Bromide Also contains cyanocobalamin, pyridoxine HCI and butterscotch vanilla flavoring.

Use caution with chloride-containing medications and foods.

For a loading dose to achieve a serum level of approximately 1 mg/Ml, give 120 mg/kg PO daily for 5 days and then reduce to 30 mg/kg PO once daily. To achieve a serum level of approximately 1.5 mg/mL, give 160 mg/Kg PO for 5 days and then reduce to 40 mg/kg PO once daily thereafter.

Store in a tightly sealed container at room temperature (59-86ยฐ F).

K-Brovet Very Effective with Few Side Effects to Worry About

K-Brovet has effectively controlled my dog, Harry's, seizures since it was initially prescribed at the original onset of his Epilepsy. I've been very satisfied with it. It does have a tendency to cause a bit of restlessness, which seems to manifests mostly at night; and some anxiety, which again, seems to manifest mostly at night. Giving him a larger dose in the morning and a smaller dose at night, totalling 10 mgs daily, seems to help offset some of the restlessness and anxiety. I noticed that when he has a comfortable bed that doesn't bunch up or move around, his anxiety and restlessness decreases. The restlessness and anxiety are about the only concerns I have with K-Brovet, but they're very small ones. It's so effective and because it has had virtually, in over two years, no serious side effects, that I'd recommend it without hesitation.
