Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Hot Spot & Itch Relief is a medicated analgesic and anti-inflammatory spray. It rapidly relieves inflammation, itchy skin, and other associated conditions.

Clinical Care Hot Spot & Itch Relief has minimum ingredients, so you know you're not slathering your pet and home with many unnecessary chemicals. It works almost immediately to take the sting and itch out of common skin wounds and to get your pet back to its relaxed self.

Key Ingredients for Rapid Relief

  • Wheat Germ Oil: At the heart of this medicated spray lies wheat germ oil, renowned for its potent anti-inflammatory properties. This natural ingredient soothes irritated skin and relieves itching, burning, and pain associated with conditions like hot spots, insect bites, and minor skin irritations.

  • Lactic Acid: Lactic acid plays a crucial role in the formula, aiding in the relief of acute moist dermatitis, commonly known as hot spots. Its antimicrobial properties help combat infections, promoting a healing environment for the affected skin.

  • Allantoin for Healing: Including allantoin is instrumental in stimulating the healing process. This compound promotes the regeneration of skin tissue, accelerating recovery from situational ailments that may irritate your pet.

  • Colloidal Oatmeal: Colloidal oatmeal is known for its soothing properties, relieving itchy skin. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, reducing inflammation and contributing to your pet's overall comfort.

  • Lidocaine HCL: With lidocaine HCL, this formula introduces a local anesthetic to provide immediate relief from pain and discomfort. It acts as a numbing agent, offering comfort to your pet during the healing process.

  • Hydrocortisone Acetate: Hydrocortisone acetate, a mild corticosteroid, is included to further alleviate itching and inflammation. It targets specific skin conditions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to your pet's relief.

Protecting and Moisturizing

The Veterinary Formula Clinical Care spray relieves symptoms and provides a protective barrier for your pet's skin. Its medicated analgesic properties ensure that the skin is shielded from further damage, making it an essential solution for conditions like anal sac disease or irritated skin caused by topical spot-on flea and tick treatments.

Moisturizing Antioxidant Properties

Enriched with antioxidant properties, this formula incorporates moisture to combat dryness. As it moisturizes, it supports hair growth and aids in the removal of dead skin cells, leaving your pet's skin healthier and more resilient.

Immediate Action for Immediate Relief

The Veterinary Formula Clinical Care - Hot Spot & Itch Relief Medicated Spray is a go-to solution for pet parents dealing with wet dogs or those with weakened immune systems. Its rapid relief capabilities are ideal for treating hot spots, ensuring the irritation is addressed immediately.

How to Use:

  • Gently clean the affected area with a mild pet-friendly shampoo, preferably an itch-relief shampoo.

  • Dry the area thoroughly.

  • Apply the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care spray to the affected skin, covering the entire hot spot or irritated region.

  • Use regularly for optimal results, especially when your pet is prone to hot spots or other skin inflammations.

How do dogs act when they have a hot spot?

Dogs exhibit signs of discomfort, including excessive licking, biting, or chewing the affected area, resulting in redness, inflammation, and potential hair loss. The hotspot might appear moist, with irritated skin that looks red and swollen. Dogs may show sensitivity or pain when the area is touched and can display restlessness or agitation due to discomfort.

Does itch relief spray work for dogs?

Sprays like Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Hot Spot & Itch Relief help ease irritation and itching in dogs caused by various skin conditions. They are formulated to offer temporary relief from irritation, itching, and discomfort linked to diverse skin conditions. These sprays commonly consist of components like colloidal oatmeal, lidocaine HCL, glycerin, polysorbate-20, hydrocortisone acetate, allantoin, wheat germ oil, or similar soothing agents. These ingredients work synergistically to alleviate itching and soothe irritated skin in dogs.

What can I do to help heal my dog's hot spots?

Theophainia Brassard, a dog behaviorist in San Francisco, highlights that hotspots in dogs often indicate an underlying problem, such as skin irritation. Identifying this root cause is essential for effective resolution. This might involve investigating potential triggers such as insect bites, heat, or diet-related allergies. For quick healing, carefully removing the hair from the affected area allows better airflow to the skin, aiding in recovery. Trimming the hair with scissors or grooming clippers is recommended, but caution should be exercised to avoid nicking the skin. Seeking assistance from a professional dog groomer is advisable if you're not confident doing this yourself. However, hair removal may not always be necessary if the area has good airflow. The primary focus of treatment is to maintain a dry environment in the affected area. It's advised not to apply any ointments or sprays without a vet's prescription. Vets may recommend a powder containing Tetracaine (such as Neo-Predef) to absorb the sticky plasma after cleaning the hotspot, facilitating the healing process. In essence, keeping the affected area clean and dry is key, and the hotspot should resolve itself if the dog doesn't excessively lick the area.

Can I put Aloe Vera gel on my dog's infected wound?

Aloe vera can provide relief for a dog's hot spot due to its soothing properties, known for their anti-inflammatory effects. These properties help ease itching and reduce irritation in the affected area. It's crucial to use pure aloe vera gel without alcohol or additives, as these could harm dogs. However, Andie Lenhard, a DVM and RN from Southeastern Appalachia, advises seeking vet approval before applying any topical treatments to a dog or cat. She notes that if the wound is infected, aloe gel won't treat the infection. Instead, Lenhard recommends keeping the wound clean with water and a small amount of betadine solution using gauze pads. She warns that anything applied to the wound may be licked by the dog and could be toxic if ingested in significant amounts.

Can I use Betadine on my dog's hotspot?

Betadine can be used on a dog's hotspot under veterinary guidance and with proper dilution. When advised by a veterinarian, dilute the Betadine solution with water (usually at a ratio of 1 part Betadine to 10 parts water). Apply the diluted solution gently using a cotton ball or gauze pad to clean and disinfect the affected area. Avoid excessive rubbing to prevent further irritation. After application, rinse the area thoroughly with clean water and pat it dry.

How do you know when hot spots are healing?

You can recognize healing in hot spots as the affected area shows reduced redness and swelling. It transitions from a moist or oozing state to drying out and forming a scab or crust as the healing process progresses. Dogs may experience less discomfort and itching, leading to decreased licking, biting, or scratching at the area. With healing, new hair growth might become visible around the once-affected spot, indicating a return to a healthier state. Additionally, the hot spot typically reduces in size gradually.

Are hot spots in dogs genetic?

Hot spots, also known as acute moist dermatitis, are not typically considered genetic in dogs. They are more commonly associated with external factors and underlying issues rather than being hereditary. Hot spots often develop due to various factors including allergies (food or environmental), insect bites, skin infections, and moisture accumulation. Additionally, excessive licking or scratching, along with underlying skin conditions, can contribute to their formation in dogs. Certain breeds or individual dogs might be more susceptible to skin sensitivities or allergies. However, there isn't significant evidence supporting the direct hereditary passing down of hot spots from one generation to another in dogs.

Successfully used for 9 years.

Would strongly recommend!! My dog didn't have hot spot issue before he reach around 2 years old. Right now he is 11. What I did recognize from my experience EXTREMELY important to react RIGHT away to the symptoms of Hot spot: dog start to bite himself and scratch particular place!!-> it could be night-> doesn't matter-> GET UP-> grab the Spray and put on the affected area IMMEDIATELY!!!-> PREVENTION is the key!-> continue for couple days for prophylactic and insure proposes. Lasts long, if you catch up at the 1st symptoms !! Usually Hot spots come in repeating pattern two times per year, for us it happened once at spring(April/May) and once at the end of August. My daughter worked as a Pharmacy technician at those time and her habit is to read fine print at the labels, so she explained to me and pointed WHY exactly SynergyLabs product is works so good: 2 main ingredients- 1 calm the itches and 2nd cure it. Thanks for PetCareRX to put this product on promotional sale - this is how I get familiar with it. Through the time of use I recommend(ed) Hot Spot&Itch Relief Medicated spray from SynergeLabs to EVERYONE those dog suffered from Hot Spot in my neighborhood or every time I see the dog with it-> even owners were sometimes suspicious about my care, as I was suspicious too before Hot Spot appeared on my dog-> Hot Spot NOT spreadable decease- it's a personal dog reaction!! PREVENTION!- Spray at 1st symptom and YOU will STOP Hot Spot before worse happened !!! Good Luck !!!

I moved in with my Son & Daughter-in-law abouti1/2 yrs ago. They have 2 dogs...the oldest is a 13 yr. old Beagle. He has been chewing, & licking his tail to tohe point that he had hardley any hair at all. He also started crying & bleeding. The kids bought everything in the world to spray on it. And of course he would run away from you and bark like crazy. After using this spray about 6 weeks...Harley's tail is almost totally covered with bleeding !! The part hardest to believe, is that it feels so good all I have to say is"Harley, go get on the stool and let me get the spray for your tail.... "! AMAZING !! GREAT PRODUCTS.
