Is Hill's prescription only?
Answer

Hill's Prescription Diet and similar pet foods formulated to manage medical conditions are typically sold through veterinarians. However, they aren't legally mandated to be distributed solely by them. These specialized diets aim to address specific health concerns such as obesity or kidney disease. Should I add water to dry dog food?
Answer

Adding water to dry dog food is a matter of preference for both the dog and the owner. Cathy LaCasse suggests that some dogs enjoy it, noting that she mixes warm water with her dog's food to create a "juice." This practice can aid in hydration, especially for puppies with developing teeth, and may be beneficial during colder months. LaCasse recommends trying both methods โ€“ with and without water โ€“ to see which your pup prefers. Ultimately, it's essential to monitor your dog's response and adjust accordingly to ensure they remain well-hydrated and satisfied during mealtime.Reference:https://www.quora.com/Should-you-add-water-to-dry-dog-food-What-are-the-dos-and-donTS-for-mixing-your-pets-food/answer/Cathy-LaCasse?ch=10&oid=290243505&share=a14906ff&srid=hpmxqX&target_type=answer

S
Great Product

This was prescribed to my mastiff pup around the 10 month mark. He does not digest rich foods well (no specific food allergies but anything other than a 'bland' diet seems to give him the runs, just a sensitive tummy) and he does have environmental / skin allergies. He LOVES this food, and in my opinion it does not smell strongly of eggs like I had been warned (the smell is about as strong as any other dry dog food i've smelled), and not offensive in the least. He also began cytopoint shots around the same time so after his bday we plan to take him OFF the shots and just let him ride on the food and see how well he does with the itching and pink skin since the vet had said it takes a few months to build up that barrier for him. Worst case we will combine this with the apoquel daily pill if the food is not enough, but i'm confident that it is helping regardless. Depending on the severity of each specific pup's allergies it may very well do the job on it's own, but in combination with other items it goes a long way to help. I am satisfied with it.

SWilliams recommends this item.
