Being the owner of a dog, there will be instances of some unwanted guests. This is as dogs are social creatures, and a stray canine can come to visit your dog. These visits may harm your dog. Stray dogs carry fleas and parasites, leading to multiple health issues in your canine. If you have a female dog, then this problem multiplies. She will attract many male suitors. Other than bringing diseases, the stray dogs may defecate in your lawn or near your house. It is essential that you adopt some means to keep these strays away from your dog.

Cheapest techniques

You should employ the cheapest and the easiest methods first. All dogs, especially strays, get attracted to food sources. It means you should not feed your dog outside the house. Give it meals only inside the house. Doing this will conceal the scent of food. Since female dogs give off a specific odor in urine when their body is in heat. To stop this, spay your female dog. This method will bar male dogs from coming to your home. You can also use dog repellent sprays.

Many scarecrow water sprinklers are sold on the market. These are electronic and will force bath the stray canine or a group of dogs which had come near your home or in your lawn. Remember that dogs like to drink water from pools, and there must not be any standing water pools in your property. Stray dogs will invariably come to drink. Another method to keep away strays is to put a barricade around the property perimeter. This is generally a chain link fence or a wooden one. The alternative means to achieve this end is to plant any flowering thorn bush around the property. The end look is quite attractive, and the thorns keep stray animals from invading your home.

Green borders

Many green methods exist to stop stray dogs from entering your property. Take cayenne pepper and put some at the borders. It is not only effective against dogs but also insects too. You can also go for vinegar spray but this should be done with regularity. It also kills weeds, so you achieve two objectives with a single action. Horse manure can be used to grow grass. Dogs hate the smell of horse manure, and they will stay off your property. Alternatively, spray a small quantity of mouthwash to keep the stray dogs away. Other than stray dogs, there are also feral canines These dogs do not respond appropriately to human overtures. Use traps to capture the wild dogs and then get rid of them. If you give feral dogs to the animal shelter, then these animals could be euthanized if they do not get adopted within a week.
