This food is formulated for adult, non-reproducing dogs over one year old as puppies and pregnant or nursing mothers have special nutritional requirements. It is important to slowly transition your dog from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellnessยฎ COREยฎ by day 7. COREยฎ is highly palatable, so your dog may tend to eat more of this food. Watch initially to see if you need to adjust regular eating patterns. Give your dog access to clean, cool fresh water at all times and feed Wellnessยฎ COREยฎ wet food in combination whenever possible, to increase the level of water in your dogโ€™s diet. Nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, but be sure to give your dog plenty of love, exercise and see your veterinarian regularly. Great for our terrier!

Our dog's coat and skin have improved switching to this brand. I wish it were sold in larger bags though. Is that a possibility?

Core Dry Formula Small Breed

My three little dogs love this food-stopped skin aggravation issues for one of them. The only thing I wish is that Wellness would sell this in a bigger bag like the other flavors!

Going Back to Wellness Small Breed Turkey/Oatmeal

After giving Core Small Breed a try, I am going back to Wellness Complete Health Small Breed Turkey/Oatmeal for my small breed. I had a coupon so we gave it a try. Unfortunately, my Maltese's coat became duller and she began to itch more than usual. The pros have been she loved the taste and considered it a treat to be fed :-) and her poop consistency was always solid, never loose, which makes yard clean up so much easier. The tie breaker was when her annual blood work came back with slightly elevated "BUN" level and the vet says my dog seems to not be handling the increase in protein as well as some dogs. So since we LOVE Wellness we are just going to switch back to the Wellness Complete Health Small Breed Turkey/Oatmeal. Hope this info. helps someone else who has a small dog who does not like the Core but still likes Wellness products too.

My Dogs Love it!

I love the Core for small breed. I have a 3 pound Maltese who has difficulty eating big morsels. The morsels in small breed are flatter and smaller making it easier for him to eat and digest.
