  • Finally our dosage in pill form!
Finding this medication in pill form has been a Godsend. Our 14-year-old has hyperthyroid and we were prescribed Methimazole compound cream for her ears, but it was very pricey and left a nasty residue in her ears (not to mention she didn't love having a cream rubbed inside her ears) and I had to use gloves and then wash my hands since I am pregnant and not supposed to handle the cream. These pills are so much easier - I just cut them in half with a pill splitter (for her dosage) and drop in her daily wet food. Works just as well as the ear compound and much more affordable and convenient. Please keep this particular dosage for this medication - it is somewhat hard to find this dose and these are perfect for cutting in half for our lightweight senior. by on 05/07/2018
  • Happy Cat
Kitty's thyroid levels have been kept in check. He's very good about taking his meds...gobble them up since I hide them in pill pockets. :) by on 05/03/2018
  • Methimazole
My cat has gone from a skeleton to a much calmer, happier, healthy cat again. He sleeps more like he used to, has filled out and has a healthier coat. The tablets crush easily so they disappear into his favorite wet food. Purchasing through Pet Rx is less than half the price of purchasing at my vet. by on 05/16/2016
  • works for hyperthyroidism
my cat has gained weight since taking methimazole. i've had hyperthyroid cats in the past who had been on it and it definitely helps with that issue. by on 10/13/2015
  • Worth it!
All I have to say is I'm pleased with its effectiveness AND ease of splitting. I've had different brands where they could barely be cut properly! (My cat was on 1/8 tab two times a day at one point, then moved to 1/4 tab twice a day) So, 1, I am very pleased with this medicine! by on 08/25/2015
  • Seems to work well.

  • Not as effective as brand for my kitty
When my cat had a mild problem with his thyroid, this was fine, for a few years actually, but then when it started to get worse I tried Tapazole name brand and within days he was tested again and the numbers dropped 5 points (not sure what the medical term is) to within normal range. The vet had previously tried another generic he uses in his office which usually works well, for 2 weeks, and still no change. So, as it turns out, in this case, sometimes the generic of this type of medicine just isn't as effective. If you must use it, please get your pet tested more often. I have insurance which covers most of my cost, and therefore have switched to the name brand this time. by on 03/24/2013
  • Cheap and effective
A lot cheaper then what the vet charges and it works great! My cat has been on it over a year and after a month she gained her weight back and she's been doing great ever since. Thanks to Pet-rx. Fast shipping too. by on 09/20/2012
  • so far so good
my angel girl has done well on this med for the past year and a half, although sometimes goes through a weird period of vomiting and soiling in inappropriate places...not sure why. Service at Pet care was great. fast and professional by on 09/14/2012
  • Local Vet Much Cheaper
This RX saved my cat's life! Unfortunately, I can get it much cheaper at my local vet clinic....60 cents a 10 mg pill by on 05/03/2011
  • Cat and cost effective!
When I first found out Buddy had thyroid problems, I was devestated. He was on this medicine for about a year and didn't seem to improve, but it was not this medication. Turned out he has CRF and between this medication and his 3x a week fluid treatment, my cat has outlived all his nine lives and then some! PetCareRx has been nothing short of a lifesaver for Buddy and his momma. The cost is the best I have seen on the internet or locally. Thanks for everything PetCareRx! by on 08/09/2008
  • Great Customer Service
After finding out the devastating news about my 17 yr old cat, Macy's overactive thyroid, it was a blessing to find the Methimazole at a fraction of the cost of my vets. He charges $60 for a month's supply. I saved over $20 through PetCareRx and it's autoshipped too! The meds arrived quickly and the customer service was wonderful. I highly recommend this company for pet care needs. They deliver!!! As for Macy, she's responding well to the medication. She's eating more although not gaining weight. She's meowing again and seems more alert. Her vomiting is almost eliminated too! by on 06/07/2008
  • Was a nightmare for my cat
My cat proved to be highly allergic to this product. She was vomiting every day, not eating her food anymore, not drinking, and her skin was bright red. She felt so sick that she hid in the darkest places, and I thought I will lose her. I will never use this awful stuff again!!! Same thing with Tapazole, they are both the same. by on 05/26/2008
  • Effective Generic with fast delivery
After purchasing this drug through my vet as a non-generic, I switched to this one. It has been just as effective at a much lower price. The deliveries have been fast with no problems. by on 04/21/2008

  • great medicine for my older cat
after just a week of being on this medicine, i noticed a difference in my cat. she became more active and she seemed to catch a "second wind" of sorts. the vet did explain that she will have to be on it for the rest of her life but she seems so much happier now. by on 09/21/2007
  • Great Price
Pet RX offers this med for half the price of my vet. by on 05/25/2007
  • 'Ozzy's' Miracle!
Ozzy' is my wonderful 21 year old cat, and has been on methimazole for over a year. He had been getting very thin, and his e1 were sunken and he just looked like he was on 'death's door'. My vet recommended that we try him on 5mg a day, and within 10 days he began to look like the 'Ozzy' of old. Over the past year he's gained weight (still on the thin side, but healthy now), and is as playful as he's always been. We highly recommend methimazole. Thank you Dr. Kilgore!!! by on 05/25/2007
  • Drastically improved cat's behavior
I adopted a 14 year old cat, and for the entire first month he threw up 2-3 times a day, and kept losing weight. When he was put on methimazole, he didnt throw up as often, and acted how i would expect a cat his age act, calm and nice. It didn't help my cat gain weight-- he's still very skinny though he eats a lot, but if helped him not throw up every day and i'm thankful for that!*This is a prescription item by on 03/08/2006
  • Helped 9 year cat act his age
Once my cat was diagnosed with over-active thyroid he was put on this medication twice a day and within a week (or less) we started noticing a difference. He would throw-up every day and ate a lot more and didn't sleep thru the night and kept losing weight. Now he only coughs up the occasional hairball and sleeps through the night and I have been able to reduce his food intake and he actually gained over a pound - he was too thin. He's still active and playful but more relaxed.*This is a prescription item by on 10/17/2005
