My dog is allergic to everything over the counter, and this prescription food is great for her

My dog has EPI and massive allergies to all food. This product helped her immensely

This is the only RX that pup will eat and it has made a world of difference.

My dog got vertigo a week ago and couldn't feed herself. I had to and still do have to hand feed her. This food has the consistency of pate , so I can ball it up and feed her easily without making a mess. She like it a lot. Thanks to my vet and Hills ,she's doing better.

My sweet Coton De Tulear I got from a rescue was having major problems with nausea and vomiting. I had tried several dog foods and tips from friends, I took her to the vet and was given a RX to try Hill's Science RX zd dog food. What a difference it has made. She is eating the food so good and it is amazing to see the difference in her. She has not had any more throwing up and also has tons of energy and is very playful now. THANKS!!

My dog will not eat this food willingly. I have to force feed him. He hates the smell and the taste. I don't understand why it is so repulsive to my dog. He is going through a rough patch right now. Low Vitamin B12. it stopped the diarrhea but it does not seem like he is thriving on this food.

HILLS PRESCRIPTION Z/D is the only dog food that doesn't upset our Gypsy's tummy. As long as we don't give her any people food she has the perfect poop! ;)
by Michele on 08/01/2022
This is the only food my dog (6 year old miniature poodle) can eat without a terrible flare-up of irritable bowel syndrome. So I'm grateful that it exists. PetCareRx has the best price AND availability. Other dealers have been running out of stock. You should know that my dog really dislikes the Hills prescription food, so I have to add in an ounce of something delicious. Usually that's Weruva Steak Frites. Then, she'll eat heartily.
by Liz on 04/19/2022
My dog loved the old mixture. The new is too gooey and she won't eat it. Why did it change.
by Lulu on 02/03/2022
Our American ****** Spaniel is 2.5 years old and has always had issues with spit up bile, horrible poop issues and not liking any food we gave her. Believe me we tried everything all the way to chef prepared. My vet recommended hills prescription diet z/d and along with Apoquel. She is doing fantastic and loves eating her food and the z/d biscuit treats. Also her little nose is shiny and wet again!!
by Michele on 11/13/2021
My dog had terrible diarrhea. My vet suggested putting him on Hill Science Z/D canned dog food. It has been a miracle how the diarrhea has stopped and he has been back to regular stools for quite a while now!
by Buper on 10/19/2021
This product is the only thing my dog can eat and it's always out of stock - the small cans especially. Get it together folks.

My vet prescribed this for my cocker who has food and skin allergies. My biggest complaint is that the last year orders/batches of food have been inconsistent. One batch of food was usual/normal consistancy and thickness. The next was so moist it was almost runny. And the most recent batch is so dry it crumbles. I don't understand the lack of consistency in the batches of food.
by Kmc2007 on 05/08/2021
My dog has a suspected food sensitivity and on this food his skin cleared up and had no itchiness, however he then grew to really dislike it. I have never seen a dog spit out food until now.
by Jaz on 04/21/2021
One third of can am and 1/3 at night. Alternated with dry version, which was not a favorite, but loved the canned version. Recently is not happy with the can. Has there been a change with the mix? I NEED AN ALTERNATIVE PLEASE. She has not eaten her dinner tonight.
by Tilla Perrin on 06/25/2020
My 4 year old Lab has been using this food for about 2 years and never had a problem. I live in Australia and recently the wet food changed and became sloppy and hard to eat and no longer a solid loaf. The quality is very poor and does not contain as much proper food. After only 11 days on this new formula my dog ended up at the vets overnight with serious intestinal issues. He was originally on this food for his protein allergies but it seems that the new formula has included a change or increase in protein. What an absolutely absurd thing to do for the type of food that it is!! Not happy at all, Terrible product.
by Em on 06/15/2019
Having tried other hypoallergenic wet food that I wouldn't consider wet food this one mixes well with the rest of their food it doesn't have a revolting smell as other brands seem to have , my dogs love to eat it and they don't have flatulence issues now which is an added bonus but most importantly my dog that has intestinal issues is doing really well.
by Trace on 12/27/2018
My dog was allergic since 2011. Tried everything , she was having the dry food and needles to help subdue her itching. I paid expensive rates to dermatologist who did nothing but kept giving her formula which she got addicted to and still stretch like there was no tomorrow. I thought why not try Z/D wet food. Boom the news, she got better in 3 days of 6 years of pain. I thank you enough. She is happy, GREEDY and can't have enough.
by Shiva on 10/15/2018
The quality of the product is inferior to the previous formula! My dog does not seem to enjoy it as much and her energy levels don't compare as to when she was eating the old Z/D. Please bring back the previous formula!
by Barb3 on 09/25/2017
For the past month, the canned food seems to have changed. It's very sticky and my dog is having a hard time eating it, gest stuck on his teeth, mouth, tongue. He has been eating this food for 2 years and loved it until now. He will hardly eat it now, so we have to feed more of the dry version instead.
by Issy2010 on 09/22/2017
When our dog became extremely ill, our vet recommended a low fat diet. After trying others with no success, it was suggested we try the Z/D as a last resort. He loves it! Not only does he love it but overnight, all of his problematic symptoms went away. This food is in pรขtรฉ form which he also prefers.
by Gino on 02/22/2017
We are about two months in on the hydrolyzed diet (mixed with a different brand of hydrolyzed dry food) and my dog appears to be doing well. We use the z/d as a means to help him take his pills and also use it to mix with water for extra hydration. Stools are decent and predictable on this food. I am currently having some packing problems with the cans which is being worked on with both Hill's and the retailer. Once those issues are resolved, I could rate this food five stars.
by DMD_R on 01/23/2017
My dog misses the old formula. I can tell she does not like the taste of this new formula as she reluctantly eats it. The product was perfect before, why change it! There was no need to reinvent the wheel!

My Dog Annie Laurie has been on Hills Z/D Prescription Diet for a couple of years now and she is thriving. It is the perfect diet for her--she digests it well and no longer has horrific issues with her stomach. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to Hills for providing this excellent product for my dog. Annie Laurie has a number of health issues but this prescription dog food has absolutely saved her life. She is also on two prescription medications which she takes twice a day and will be on for the duration of her life. Bless you Hills!

My dog was put on this food by my vet. It has changed his life. He is healthier, happy and feeling great. I am grateful this product exists !

My 6 year old mini-Rattie has been on Prescription ZD since April 2015. In addition to food sensitivity, she has lost several teeth - so typical treats are out. I take the canned ZD and put it into an ice cube tray I have that makes tiny cubes. A "pupsicle" she can eat! Thanks for your wonderful products -- I truly feel your food has saved my little Lydia's life!

Only canned food agreeable to pet's sensitive needs.

Just started using this product and cannot at this time give a opinion as to the effectiveness of it

This product has been keeping our family dog (Mac)alive for years. We appreciate the product. Besides the dry food we also use the canned and the treats. Thank you so much.

MY dog had issues and the vet, suggested this food along with medicine. She has got better and was switched to dd. She has really improved and the food was great for her, but I was feeding 3to 4 cans a day for 3 months. She is a lab and requires a lot of food. It is quite expensive for a long term treatment . I would like to keep her on it but when she gets better I will have to switch .I am buying 2 cases a week for her and that is expensive , yes this is helping and if my income was unlimited I wouldn't have a problem with the price. I did print the coupons from the website but that is a one time thing. Other than being expensive for long term care I see that the food really is helping and she likes it.

Mandy loves this food and she no longer begs for people food

My shih-tzu, Sookie, 5.5 years developed severe itching and biting over the last year. Her skin became very irritated and flakey. I tried special baths and shampoos. She began smelling like she lived outside all the time-although I was bathing her. I initially thought she got a bad episode of "fleas" that started it, but it just never stopped. Finally, i took her to the vet. He prescribed this after giving her some steroids to wean off of and a special bath than would numb her scratched, raw areas. THIS IS THE BEST DOG FOOD! She is always so picky and thought she would never eat this. It's consistancy is that of thick refried bean mash. SHe even eats the dry food (I only wish it were the tiny bites like the Science Diet). I also make her treats with it. I just slice it up into chunks and put it in the oven on 305 for about 20 min. SHE LOVES THEM! Thanks so much for the great food! It is expensive, but Ive made sacrifices so she doesnt have to be miserable! I just wish there were some coupons!! Thanks again!

My little guy was irregular and suffered from loose bowels. His vet tried a few different diets and when he placed him on Prescription Z/D, we had a winner! He started to and continues to have regular normal bowel movements. He enjoys both the wet and dry version. I give him the dry as treats and he loves them. Success!

I surely wish Hill's Pet would offer discount coupons on their specialty foods and treats more often. The z/d can food has been great for my dog and she loves the z/d treats, but her master would love to get a more frequent break on the costs of these specialties through your coupon offers.
by AggieJ on 10/07/2014
Finally found something my Shih Tzu enjoys eating and it has put an end to his constant itching and chewing himself. It is expensive but it works. After having ZD he is willing to then eat his dry food.

Z/D Ultra has been the difference between life and death for my lab. She has been on Z/D for about 5 years. Thank you Hill's for extending my time with my sweet girl!!
by MyLabsMom on 08/23/2014
My dog liked it a lot at first but now I am having a hard time getting him to eat it. He will pick on the dry food at night but doesn't really like that either for some reason. Wish that there were other flavors to try in smaller cans and soft treats as well as he does not like hard treats.
by Kinsey on 08/15/2014
my dog Tiny a miniature dashhound had many skin issues the food seamed to help with them and eye and ear problems have lessened also.

Suggested by our vet for our dog's condition & this has improved her overall health. Also, she now likes her food.

Was pleased to have this recommended by my vet. She likes it and looks forward to her meal time.

My GSP loves a little of this mixed in with the dry z/d food.
by Carol2014 on 06/22/2014
Z/d is a very good product. I use the wet and dry dog food.
by mayra on 05/16/2014
My dog likes the taste, it fills him up, he doesn't get sick of it and I love that you allow your customers coupons!
by Jenna on 04/26/2014
Our dog likes this dog food very much. We give it to him with the dry dog food so we can put his medicine in it. He will eat the can food and leave the dry. He wants more of it, but we want him to eat the dry food as well. If it was not as expensive we would give him more.

Have had three different cases that are different. :-(

My rat terrier has had so many medical issues since she was 1 years old and had it not been for Hills Prescription Diet ZD, I don't think she would be alive today. It is the only dog food that her little system can handle and she consistently loves the taste; despite the fact that it is literally the only food she ever eats.
by Babs53 on 03/14/2014
Dog loves it. Eats it all at every feeding. Good for picky eaters
by Booboo2012 on 02/23/2014
My 14 yr old Shiba Inu has developed sensitivity to her regular dry food. So, to keep her from vomiting/diarrhea seesawing our vet suggested the z/d canine Ultra, and it is working for her. We give her 4 small meals per day so that the food does not overwhelm her gastrointestinal system. I mix it into small bits with a little white rice, a tablespoon of firm tofu, and a little water so that she gets her food and a gravy-like fluid. Sensitivity at old age takes longer to adjust so she gets about 1 can per day, spread out over a 12 hr. period. It is good to see her chipper and comfortable again.

My miniature poodle, Hershey, loves the Hills Prescription ZD canned dog food. It's more trouble since it has to be refrigerated but he eats his dry food and treats much better with a little of the west dog food on it. Wish there were more coupons available as the prescription food gets to be expensive and I am retired and on a fixed income.
by MyHersheyBoy1 on 10/16/2013
two dogs that love it. Can't afford it. What else is comparable bur less expensive.
by 007mgb1 on 09/27/2013
My little Westie had a hard time keeping most dog food down, so the vet recommended the Prescription Diet and it was like a miracle. He ate it, and it stayed down and he has grown up on it.
by Noreen28 on 09/19/2013
This product helped with my dogs overall health, she was prone to digestive problems. The problem is the expense of this product makes it impossible to keep the dogs on the product unless you win the lottery! Trying to get one of the coupons off the web site takes an IT degree and your printer better work the first time or forget it!

My Maltese struggled with tummy problems from day one but when she was 12 y.o. the situation escalated where she was unable to consume Anything without suffering pain and diarrhea. Her weight went from 9lbs to 6lbs, she was on pain meds, at one point I was administering liquids through an IV a couple of times a day (hard for both of us!) and our vet visits were every other day for more than a month with many costly tests. I thought my dog was going to die. Then I saw a new vet who recommended the Z/D diet. Problems solved and my little girl is still here and happy and healthy as ever.
