Usually, online stores need customers to provide veterinary clinic information and upload a scan of the prescription to complete the purchase.

Does Walking Dog Help Lose Weight?
Answer

Yes, regular walking and runs help manage the dog's weight effectively. Pet parents must increase the length and intensity of a dog's daily walk to lose weight. Several dog breeds reflexively walk at a pace required to elevate the heart rate for sustained aerobic activity and thus induce weight loss. According to several reports, the best walking pace to lose weight is 12-15 minutes per kilometer. If your dog is on a weight management program, try to walk for 30 mins daily.

Do Green Beans Help Dogs Lose Weight?
Answer

Green Beans are not only safe for dogs to eat, but they are also an excellent food for weight loss. Pet parents must take care to feed only raw, frozen, steamed, and chopped green beans to dogs. Don't ever feed canned green beans to your dog as they have a high level of salts, which is dangerous for your canine pal. Pet parents can safely replace a portion of the dog's diet with green beans. The vegetable has low calories and high fiber content, which helps your dog trim the extra pounds. However, the green bean diet might cause a nutritional imbalance in your dog's diet.

How Much Weight Can a Dog Lose in a Week?
Answer

As a general rule of thumb, your dog should lose around 1-2 percent of its body weight every week. Before starting the weight management program, weigh your dog and set a goal for an ideal weight. Once started, closely monitor your dog's weight by measuring every couple of weeks or every week. If your dog is not losing 1 to 2 percent of its body weight every week, pet parents must restrict the diet further. Make sure that no one in your family is giving the dog extra food or treats. Once you reach your ideal weight goal, the dog's dietary intake should be gradually increased. Stick to a diet that is healthy and doesn't cause weight to regain. It's very crucial to continue monitoring your dog's weight to avoid any regain in the future.

How Can I Speed up My Dog's Metabolism?
Answer

The best way to lose a dog's weight is to understand its metabolism. Overweight dogs benefit greatly from a custom diet designed for weight management, including a metabolic diet. A diet plan with lower calories and high fiber content helps in speeding up a dog's metabolism. While lowering the number of calories consumed is essential, pet parents must consult a veterinarian to formulate a diet with the required calories to boost metabolism. If the calorie count is too low, the dog's body shifts to starvation mode, where the metabolic rate is lowered to conserve energy and muscle tissues are broken down for energy. This is not something a pet parent would want.

What Are Metabolic Foods?
Answer

Metabolic foods are clinically proven nutrition-rich feed that contains just the right amount of calories and high fiber content. The combination of restricted calorie intake and increased fiber kicks off the metabolism rate and helps in effective weight management. The metabolic dog food also has antioxidants for the holistic wellness of the dog.

What food is good for joints in dogs?
Answer

When it comes to promoting joint health in dogs, there are several types of food that can be beneficial. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants, which help reduce inflammation and protect joint tissues. They also contain vitamins C and E, which promote collagen production and support joint health. Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties. It can help alleviate joint pain and swelling. You can use fresh turmeric root, powdered turmeric, or give turmeric supplements designed for dogs. Fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids have anti-inflammatory effects and can help improve joint mobility and reduce stiffness. Sweet potatoes are a nutritious carbohydrate source that provides vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. They are also rich in antioxidants like beta-carotene, which can help protect joint tissues. Ginger has natural anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce joint pain and inflammation in dogs. You can use fresh ginger root by grating it into your dog's food or give ginger supplements designed for dogs. Spinach is a leafy green vegetable that contains vitamins C and E, as well as other antioxidants. These nutrients help support joint health and reduce oxidative stress on the joints. Pumpkin is rich in fiber, vitamins A, C, and E, as well as antioxidants. It can help with digestion and promote a healthy weight, which is important for joint health in dogs.

Is there a dog food that helps with joint pain?
Answer

Yes, there are dog foods specifically formulated to support joint health and help alleviate joint pain in dogs. These foods typically contain ingredients that promote joint function and reduce inflammation. Hill's Prescription Diet Metabolic + Mobility, Weight + Joint Care is designed to support both weight management and joint health. It contains ingredients such as glucosamine and chondroitin to support joint function, omega-3 fatty acids for inflammation reduction, and a specialized blend to support weight loss or maintenance. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Mobility Support is formulated to provide targeted support for dogs with joint issues. It contains ingredients like glucosamine, chondroitin, and omega-3 fatty acids. It also has a specific nutrient profile to support healthy joints and mobility. Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets JM Joint Mobility is designed to support joint health and mobility in dogs. It contains a blend of nutrients, including glucosamine, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants, to promote joint function and reduce inflammation. While not specifically marketed as a joint care food, Blue Buffalo Wilderness Healthy Weight with Chicken is lower in calories and contains ingredients like glucosamine and chondroitin to support joint health. It also provides a balanced nutrition profile to help manage weight. While not a dog food, Nutramax Dasuquin with MSM is a popular joint supplement for dogs that contains glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). It can be added to your dog's regular food to provide additional joint support.

How can I improve my dog's joint health?
Answer

Consider incorporating joint supplements that contain glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, or omega-3 fatty acids into your dog's routine. These supplements can support joint health, reduce inflammation, and alleviate joint pain. Consult with your veterinarian for appropriate dosage and recommendations. Feed your dog a well-balanced, nutritionally complete diet that supports overall health and includes ingredients beneficial for joint health. Look for foods containing glucosamine, chondroitin, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Provide your dog with regular exercise to keep their joints mobile and muscles strong. Low-impact activities like walking, swimming, and controlled play sessions are ideal. Avoid high-impact activities or excessive jumping, as they can put a strain on the joints. Make sure your dog has a comfortable and supportive environment, such as a soft bed or cushioned area to rest. Avoid hard or slippery surfaces that can strain the joints. Provide ramps or stairs for easy access to elevated areas like beds or sofas, minimizing the need for jumping.

Should my dog be on weight management food?
Answer

The decision to put your dog on weight management food depends on their current weight, body condition, and overall health. If your dog is overweight or obese, weight management food can be beneficial in helping them reach a healthy weight. However, consult with your veterinarian before making any dietary changes. Your veterinarian can assess your dog's body condition score, which evaluates its body fat and muscle condition. Based on this assessment, they can determine if weight management is necessary. If your dog has obesity-related health issues, such as joint problems or heart disease, weight management food may be recommended to help alleviate symptoms and improve their overall health. Evaluate your dog's current feeding habits, including portion sizes and the type of food they are consuming. If they are consistently overeating or being fed high-calorie foods, switching to a weight management formula can help regulate their calorie intake. If your dog needs to lose weight, a weight management food can provide controlled portions and balanced nutrition to support healthy weight loss. It's important to set realistic weight loss goals and work closely with your veterinarian to monitor progress. Consider your dog's breed, age, activity level, and any underlying health conditions when deciding on a weight management plan. Some breeds may be prone to weight gain or have specific dietary requirements that need to be taken into account.

How can I reduce my dog's obesity?
Answer

Reducing your dog's obesity requires a comprehensive approach that includes changes to their diet, exercise routine, and overall lifestyle. Switch to a portion-controlled, balanced diet appropriate for weight loss. Your veterinarian may recommend weight management or low-calorie dog food. Measure your dog's food portions carefully and avoid feeding table scraps or high-calorie treats. Remember to make dietary changes gradually to prevent digestive upset. Calculate the recommended daily calorie intake for your dog based on its ideal weight, activity level, and age. Ensure that you are feeding them the appropriate amount of food to meet their specific calorie needs. Your veterinarian can help determine the appropriate calorie intake for your dog. Engage your dog in regular exercise routines appropriate for their age, breed, and fitness level. Aim for daily activities such as walks, playtime, and mentally stimulating exercises. Gradually increase the duration and intensity of exercise as your dog becomes more fit. Divide your dog's daily food into multiple smaller meals to help prevent overeating and regulate their calorie intake. Avoid free-feeding or leaving food out all day. Choose low-calorie, healthy treats or use portioned pieces of their regular food as rewards during training sessions. Minimize high-calorie treats and avoid using food as the sole means of reward.

Too big kernels for smaller dogs

We need smaller kernels for smaller dogs. My Daschund has difficulties eating these because of the huge size and is not appealing to her because of this. Kernels crumble if you try to cut them. I got around by cutting each kernel in half using a dog nail clipper which keeps the kernel in place. And, although still the kernel crumbles, it get smaller and I can fingerfeed my baby dog. I think maybe a pill cutter would work too. The size of these kernels is for large dogs like labrador or German Shepperds.

Smaller dry food kernals needed

Our veterinarian prescribes Hill's Metabolic & Mobility Dry Dog Food for our two dogs. It works great for our Brittany Spaniel but the kernels are too big for our 7.5 pound Yorkie. We tried to make bites smaller in a food processor but it became powder. We soak it to make softer but would be so much better if came in smaller size too.

Life changing!

On the recommendation of my vet he prescribed this food to help my dog achieve his ideal weight. In conjunction with regular exercise my dog lost 60lbs and at 8 years old he has the stamina of a 4 year old dog now. If used as per the directions and limit unhealthy treats this food is a game changer.

K
Works with Husky breeds!!

My Siberian husky went from a skinny rescue dog to an obese adult within two years of me having her. My doctor put her on this food three months ago and she's already lost 10 pounds. We also no longer give any snacks or treats in between feedings and are very diligent about portion size of the food. I also gave the same food to my lab mix who was overweight and now with in four months she is at perfect weight the vet said having lost 15 pounds. This product does what it says. And they do actually stay full which is what my vet said would happen when I questioned the portion amount being so small. He said that whatever was in the food made them feel fuller and they are not begging for food . I don't know the miracle mix of what is causing this but if you have an overweight dog this money is worth it's weight in gold.

Great results!

I adopted a morbidly obese lab mix. She couldn't even stand up long enough to eat when she first came home. The vet recommended this food. Within a month of switching her food, the vet said she was noticeably healthier. She's lost 46 lbs in 9 months and is a completely different dog now. Very happy and active. The kibble does smell very strongly, but she loves the taste.

Awesome Product that really works!!

My Chocolate Lab was quite overweight at 43kgs and had very little energy; unless he was stealing food. We were recommended this product and now he is back to a healthy 34kgs. He has lots of energy to burn and is back to running with his brother on the beach.

Best food for 13 year old Labrador

Our 13 year old Labrador has hip issues / mobility issues, which of course due to reduced exercise put on some unwanted pounds. Our Vet recommended this food and it has helped him to shed the extra pounds and improved his mobility quite a bit. We still walk him (age appropriate and with Vets recommendation...he is slow but he walks). So happy with the results!

Worth Every Cent! DEFINITELY Recommend!

My 4 year old yellow lab was gaining so much weight and NOTHING we tried worked. We tried every diet food in the book. We thought she had a thyroid problem. Our vet finally recommended us to try this food and she has lost 25 lbs in 6 months. She is beautifully at her goal weight. Before, she couldn't even play fetch without limping around after a few runs and now she runs, jumps, plays and has more energy than she ever has even when she was a pup! (the good kind of energy!) It is a little pricey but it's worth every cent. I HIGHLY recommend it. She even does the happy dance when she hears the word "food" now and before we had to hand feed her because she wasn't happy on any other dog food.

Great product that works

We have a 10 year old Golden Doodle that was overweight and this brought her back down to where she's supposed to be. It didn't take terribly long either. She loves the taste and we're all happy that she can move so much better. It's like we have a young dog again...seriously.

love it!

My 13 year old golden retriever was a little over 80 lbs when I started this food She has always been very active, but with her weight and arthritis she wasn't getting around as well so our vet suggested this food. Within 6 months she had lost 25 lbs and is at her goal weight! She is getting around as is to be expected with her arthritis and honestly, without this food I don't think she would still be with me today due to mobility issues.

Road to health

When our Maggie, a 4 year Old English Sheepdog, became less active due to hip pain, that led to gaining weight and stomach issues. Metabolic & Mobility dog food put her on the road to health again. She loved the food, and in a few months was able to lose 12 pounds without hunger. She became more active, running and jumping with ease again. When the aches and pains slow down your dog, I would highly recommend this food to set her on the right path again!

Amazing product!

We have been using this product for over a year now. 3 of 4 of my pitbull mixes are on this dry and can food. My youngest one "Bella" initially started it to lose weight and she has lost a total of 40 lbs. The other 2 eat it to help with their joints and mobility due to FHO surgery (Watson) and double ACL surgery (Sunday). They love both products and look forward to meal times. It has definitely given all 3 of them a better quality of life. My oldest (Girlfriend) is also on Hills prescription food and at one point was on the metabolic + mobility. Overall these products are great and have helped all 4 of my fur-babies!

Wonder food for my chocolate lab!
VERIFIED PURCHASER

My 8 yo spayed female chocolate lab has always been a little thick. She has had off and on issues with her elbow after rough play so that limited her exercise more. She has been on this food since late summer and has done amazing on it. She is down 10 pounds, and almost back to her girlish figure. She loves the food and the mobility treats. She seems more energetic on her own and is more inclined to play and "stir the pot" with the danes in our house that are much younger. I literally have done nothing more than change her food and it has worked wonders!

This works

My vet is participating in a "biggest loser" contest for the chubby clients. My dog Damien, a 13-yr old Pit, was seriously overweight. In the few weeks since we've used the Metabolic+Mobility, he's lost 10 pounds, has regained his waistline and some of his energy. Damien devours this food, both dry and wet. I'm looking forward to see the results the next few weeks will bring. Thanks for having such a great product line.

Worked Awesome

Our vet prescribed this for our overweight 8 year old Siberian Husky. We were surprised at cost but decided to try. She loves it. Worth every penny. She runs and plays like a puppy.

This has helped my dog's "comfortable" mobility. I'm glad my vet suggested it.

My Review
VERIFIED PURCHASER

I recently had to put put my one dog on this and then we switched our other dog to as well because she wasn't losing any weight being on the CD brand of food. My one that we switched to it will eat it but the one that was recently put on it for weight loss does not like the flavor or the smell. Which I don't blame her it does smell horrible. Plus I buy the cans as well so it gets very expensive because I also have a cat on hill dry and wet. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats so everyone being on different things and prescription foods plus meds very costly.
