What can I give my dog for an upset stomach?
Answer

If your dog has an upset stomach, there are several things you can try to help soothe their discomfort. Barri J. Morrison, a DVM from Florida, notes that one option is to feed them a bland diet consisting of boiled chicken and rice. This easy-to-digest meal can help calm their stomach and provide necessary nutrients without further upsetting their digestive system. Additionally, you can offer small, frequent meals rather than one large meal to prevent overwhelming their stomach. Another option is to give them plain, canned pumpkin, which contains fiber and can help regulate their digestion. Be sure to choose plain pumpkin without any added sugars or spices. In addition to home remedies and basic dietary adjustments, some dogs may benefit from specially formulated therapeutic diets designed to address digestive issues. One such option is Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Stress Digestive Care Canned Dog Food. This veterinarian-recommended formula is formulated with ingredients that are easy to digest and gentle on the stomach. This makes it an excellent choice for dogs with sensitive digestive systems or those experiencing stress-related gastrointestinal upset.Reference:https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/digestive/upset-stomach-dogs

How do you know if your dog has an upset stomach?
Answer

Detecting an upset stomach in your dog requires keen observation of their behavior and physical symptoms. According to Vanessa Farmer, a DVM, common signs of gastrointestinal distress include vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, and flatulence. Additionally, your dog may display lethargy or exhibit unusual posture, such as arching their back or hunching over. Pay attention to any changes in their eating habits or reluctance to consume food and water. Monitor their bowel movements for consistency and frequency, as diarrhea or constipation can indicate digestive issues. Foul-smelling breath and excessive belching may also suggest an upset stomach. If your dog exhibits any of these symptoms persistently, it's crucial to consult a veterinarian promptly. Keep track of when the symptoms started and any recent dietary changes or exposure to potential toxins. While minor stomach upset can sometimes resolve on its own, persistent or severe symptoms may require medical intervention.Reference:https://www.webmd.com/pets/dogs/what-to-do-if-your-dog-has-an-upset-stomach

Does peanut butter help a dogโ€™s upset stomach?
Answer

Peanut butter might not be the best option for soothing a dog's upset stomach. While it's true that some dogs enjoy peanut butter and find it palatable, it's not necessarily the most beneficial choice for an upset stomach. Peanut butter is high in fat, which can be difficult for dogs to digest, especially if they're already experiencing gastrointestinal distress. Glenda Fisher, an experienced pet mom, firmly advises against giving peanut butter to dogs experiencing tummy trouble. Instead, she suggests opting for bland, easily digestible foods like boiled rice with chicken, sometimes adding a little low-sodium chicken broth for flavor. Glenda emphasizes the importance of avoiding foods that are hard to digest and consulting with a veterinarian before administering any remedies. In addition to plain yogurt, which she finds helpful after her dogs have vomited, Glenda mentions giving her dog Pepcid.Reference:https://www.quora.com/Does-peanut-butter-help-a-dogs-upset-stomach

How long does an upset stomach last in dogs?
Answer

The duration of an upset stomach in dogs can vary depending on the underlying cause and the severity of the symptoms. In many cases, mild cases of upset stomach, such as those caused by temporary gastrointestinal irritation, may resolve within 24 to 48 hours. However, more severe cases, such as those involving infectious diseases, dietary allergies, or gastrointestinal disorders, may last longer and require veterinary intervention. If the upset stomach is due to a temporary issue like dietary indiscretion, the dog may experience vomiting, diarrhea, or mild discomfort. However, if the upset stomach persists for more than a couple of days, it's crucial to seek veterinary attention promptly.

What if your dog has diarrhea for 3 days?
Answer

If your dog has diarrhea for three days, it's essential to take prompt action to address the issue and ensure your dog's well-being. Diarrhea lasting for more than a couple of days can lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and potential complications if left untreated. Firstly, monitor your dog's condition closely, noting any additional symptoms such as vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, or abdominal pain. Next, withhold food for 12 to 24 hours to give your dog's digestive system a chance to rest. Provide small amounts of water frequently to prevent dehydration, but avoid large volumes at once, which could exacerbate diarrhea. After the fasting period, gradually reintroduce a bland diet consisting of easily digestible foods like boiled chicken and rice in small, frequent meals. If the diarrhea persists despite these measures or if your dog's condition worsens, it's crucial to seek veterinary care promptly. Your vet can perform a thorough examination, run diagnostic tests to identify the underlying cause and prescribe appropriate treatment.

F
Excellent product

My GSD was stressed after coming home from being boarded, and refused to eat for a few days. She also had what we thought was stress related diarrhea. My Vet suggested I add a bit of Dr.Hill's ID Stress Rice,Veg, Chicken Stew to my dog's diet. It worked like a charm. Her appetite returned and her poop is back to normal. Thank goodness our Vet keeps this in stock!

Pancreatic Dog No Longer Suffers

My rescued-from-early-life-neglect has pancreatitis. For the first year I had him, it was really tough to get him to eat anything but human food as that's all he'd gotten as a puppy. I got him at about 10 months old. I tried everything, but he just wouldn't eat. When he would finally decide he liked something, he'd get very sick. Finally, he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and put on a very low-fat diet. Most low-fat foods were not tempting to him. Finally, the vet suggested this, and he eats it readily. I mix with a low fat kibble, boiled ground turkey, and some peas & carrots. I am thankful for this food, and so is my dog!

My Story

I recently moved from the home I lived in for 10 years with my collie. I never thought the stress of the move would effect my dog. After the vet giving meds for 2 weeks the digstive issues didn't go away. We did a stool sample and the lab reported negative to parasites. On my vets advice he suggested Hills Presription digestive care. I/d. I brought it in chicken stew version and within days the entire problem went away and she has perfect stool and I can tell was feels better as well. I never would have thought stress of moving would cause such an issue and a simple fix like changing dog food would correct it.
