Atopica for Cats is a specially formulated cyclosporine oral solution designed to manage and treat feline allergic dermatitis. This medication is particularly effective for cats suffering from miliary dermatitis, eosinophilic plaques, and self-induced alopecia.

Key Features

  • Active Ingredient: Cyclosporine Oral Solution USP

  • Formulation: Available in a user-friendly dispensing system consisting of an oral dosing syringe

  • Administration: The oral dosing syringe fills with the prescribed dose, ensuring dosing accuracy with its graduated markings

  1. Effective Relief: Atopica for Cats provides a systemic immunosuppressant effect, reducing the immune response involved in allergic reactions.

  2. Ease of Use: The oral dosing syringe firmly fits the bottle and accurately administers the solution. A few tiny bubbles in the syringe do not affect dosing accuracy.

  3. Comprehensive Instructions: Complete administration instructions and a child-resistant screw cap for safety.

Administration Guidelines

  • Initial Dose: Administer the prescribed dose daily during the initial daily treatment period.

  • Tapering Dose: Adjustments based on the cat's body weight and clinical signs may be necessary. Always follow the vet's recommended dosing regimes.

  • Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, administer the next dose at the scheduled time. Avoid doubling up doses.

Precautions and Warnings

  • Immunosuppressive Agents: Avoid concurrent use with other immunosuppressive agents.

  • Clinical Signs: Monitor for progressive weight loss, vomiting (which spontaneously resolved in clinical studies), and adverse reactions.

  • Adverse Reactions: Commonly reported adverse reactions include vomiting, decreased immune response, and renal insufficiency. In case of adverse reactions, seek medical advice immediately.

  • Contraindications: Not suitable for cats with known hypersensitivity to cyclosporine, pregnant or lactating queens, cats with malignant disorders, or those infected with Toxoplasma gondii.

  • Health Considerations: Use with caution in cats with diabetes mellitus, hepatic lipidosis, and breeding cats.

  • Avoid Exposure: Avoid contact with raw meat to prevent developing clinical toxoplasmosis.

Storage Instructions

  • Controlled Room Temperature: Store Atopica for Cats at controlled room temperature to maintain its efficacy.

Special Considerations

  • Cats with Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV): Use in cats infected with FeLV or FIV only under strict veterinary supervision.

  • Monitoring: Regularly monitor serum glucose levels and immune cell counts to prevent adverse health impacts.

  • Cat Owners: Keep your cat indoors and maintain a consistent schedule to avoid missed doses and ensure the desired therapeutic effect.

Animal Safety

  • Controlled Laboratory Study: Atopica for Cats has undergone extensive testing in controlled laboratory studies to ensure safety and efficacy.

  • Protective Measures: Ensure cats seronegative for Toxoplasma gondii infection develop protective titers when using this medication.

Atopica for Cats is the trusted medicine veterinarians prescribe for managing allergic dermatitis in cats. For the best results, always follow the vet's advice and complete the prescribed dose.

ATOPICA: A Fabulous product

My poor kitty has allergies to everything! (Confirmed by $400 worth of testing!). The only thing that gives her relief from a nasty black, and very itchy, rash on her chin is Atopica! It is expensive, but definitely worth it!!!

Life saver

After countless trips to the vets and finding no relief for my poor cat and wanting to get her out of the lampshade I finally tried to get her into our local animal hospital. They recommended a specialist in allergies. They finally figured out my poor cats issue with licking her skin raw. She has had no issues since being on this medication and all her wounds have healed. She was in the hood for over 6 months and if she could reach it she would lick holes in her body Now sheโ€™s fluffy and back to her old self

Great product

My cat has been on atopica for many years due to rodent ulcers. Only in the last few years it's decided to affect his upper hard pallet only which has proven to be the most difficult to treat. If not for this medicine I can't imagine how bad the inside of his mouth would have become. Unfortunately, even though they flavor it, the med still has a very bitter taste which is why alternate days was what he could tolerate. Recently I discovered gel capsules. Wish i tried them many years ago.

My cat has had allergies and a rare skin disease for a few years now, and had in the last year or so developed hyperthyroidism. Since some medications I have had to give my pet are fairly expensive, I am happy to do business with a company that offers discounts. I have found good results with the product purchased. Con - When filling the syringe, the plastic adapter with dip tube sometimes comes out of the bottle as I withdraw the syringe. Pro - I like the plastic vial for storing the oral dosing syringe is appreciated
