My 2 year old Cavapoo was getting stains on her teeth. I brush her teeth daily and use this food about 4 per meal 8 per day. She always eats them first and whines at the bag she likes so much. Stains are gone and she is eating something complete and balanced. I would give for her regular food but it's too low calorie for her. I recommend it to all my friends too.

We absolutely love this food for our dog. It was vet recommended and dog approved!
by wendyrn97 on 05/20/2023
My little 10 pound dog doesn't really like this food, but he will eat it if we cut the large sized kibble into 4 small pieces. I wish it came in a smaller size kibble.
by Poconel on 02/08/2022
My dogs love this food but the kibble is too large for my small 8 lbs dog as well as my older terrier. Why do they not come in small bites. Woks good for my 50 lb dog.
by pebble on 10/20/2021
I'm disappointed that this food has such a large amount of wheat in the recipe. My dogs love it and I would continue to supplement their other dog food but I have to break it up so they can eat it. Don't you make a smaller bite for little dogs
by Liz on 07/18/2021
Quality is very good; however, our small dog cannot handle the large kibble and tries to swallow whole. Please make a smaller kibble.
by Carol on 05/26/2021
My older dogs breath used to smell so bad, now that she is eating this food, it doesn't smell any longer! Love that!
by lili on 11/08/2020
We have a labradoodle, a maltipoo and a chihuahua and they all love it. At first I was concerned about the size of the kibble, but I understand why it needs to be as big as it is. The dogs - even the littles - have no problem eating it. I usually mix some in with their regular (smaller kibble) food or will use it as a training treat. I just wish there was a medium sized bag. 4 pounds of the food isn't enough and 28.5 is too much!
by Tim on 10/09/2020
My small minature poodle loves them & they really work on the extreme plaque build up of his teeth. Although they are large (varying slightly in size/weight), he certainly manages to crunch them with such gusto & positive results, once he starts. Maybe the appearance of the size, is more daunting for the dog, that their ability to eat/consume them. Found a bit of mince rubbed on outside made Oral Care them more appealling, then once he starts. Found that approx 8 a day seems best for him, served first for his afternoon/evening meal, then topped up with recommended amount (for weight of dog) of Small Paws afterwards. Highly recommended. AAA+++
by Jenny on 07/12/2020
There are a lot of comments about the size of the kibble which I understand especially for a small dog but when my Veterinary and explained the reason for the size I understood that it can't be made smaller. I'll quote from this report, " The oral care and t/dTM kibbles are designed and manufactured to maintain the kibble form until the tooth penetrates the whole way through the kibble, unlike other kibbles that crumble when bitten into. Both kibbles are made of aligned fibres that when bitten into engulf the tooth and scrape along the tooth surface (mechanically abrading the tooth surface)." Oral care and prescription t/d have the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) seal of acceptance for both plaque and calculus.
by Annie on 05/25/2020
The product works and my yorkie eats it but I have to cut the pieces in half. Seriously, it's like they don't care about small dogs who typically have the most issues with teeth.
by JB on 09/19/2019
Our dogs love the oral care food, but they struggle to eat the large size chunks. We mix about 8-10 in with the Small Paws adult food. They work great to clean their teeth, but I wish they came in a smaller size so that we could feed them oral care exclusively.
by OlafOnix on 08/22/2019
They loved it and as teeth can be a problem for greyhounds (seems to be the only issue), this food is great. I got a free bag when I donated to the Sydney Dog and Cats homes, great to see a company that sells animal products, supporting this Charity. Kerrie Allen

If someone had told me how this well the prescription dental food works, I wouldn't have a believed him. I took my dog to the vet on Tuesday of this week. After three days my dog's teeth are noticeably cleaner from tartar buildup! And she likes the food! The Nuggets are large for her but she likes them enough to figure out how to chew them which of course is why her teeth have so drastically improved! Wow!
by Greeneyes on 03/09/2018
We have been mixing 10 nuggets of this product in each twice daily feeding for 8 years and it has kept our trim 76 pound terrier's teeth in good shape, since he won't cooperate with having his teeth brushed. We didn't like brushing his teeth anyway. However he shied away from eating it at first, until I noticed him struggling to chew it up. Apparently, it's too hard for him to breakup in its current size, and we buy the smaller sized nuggets. I cut them in half and he stopped leaving them in the bowl. It would certainly be appreciated if Hills would make the nuggets in half size since it requires a very sharp knife to get through them, and it's a nuisance too. I've called to ask about this before and there was no reply or action. Hmm, let's think about this...Hill's might sell more dog food if the dogs could eat it more easily. healthy dogs, more sales and profits. win, win win. no brainer. so how about it?
by Shropshire Fan on 03/09/2018
I just got a malemute puppy about 4 months old and she was not doing so good, was in a large litter and had been getting beat up. I went to the pet food store and bought the best food I could find and it caused constant diarrhea. so yesterday I went to the store again and picked this food out. Came home and fed her and she loved it! This morning she had nice solid stool. My dachshunds I have three also went crazy for it and my older dachshund just picks at his food he ate 6 pieces of it and wanted more. I am so glad I found this food and thank you so much. Its fresh and has a coating on it that they love. It also also slowed down the malemute from gobbling the food she had to chew it so I am sure that is better on her digestive system. Thank you so much! I will be purchasing this from now on for all of them and get rid of that fancy over priced food that gave them digestive problems.
by AKROSE on 04/04/2017
My dogs have been eating this food for two weeks. I can see that tartar is disappearing from their teeth. It does what it says. I do wish they would offer same food in smaller pieces because two of my dogs are really small, and the 13 year old has to work extra hard it seems at chewing up the food so I worry she might not get enough to eat since she is eating so slow. I do see it cleaning their teeth very well though, tartar is almost all gone. I have a 4 year old pom, a 4 year old collie mix and a 13 year old pekingese. They all eat it, all their teeth are improving. Like I said, just wish they would offer a small dog version, pieces about half this size would be nice, maybe mix in some other small pieces of regular food so I could be sure my older dog is getting enough food because she is working awful hard to chew this up (she has good teeth, no lack of teeth and no weak teeth or broken teeth or anything like that). Before I bought this my dogs were eating the sensitive skin and stomach science diet.
by sharonmills on 03/31/2017
I'm not sure how well this product works on cleaning teeth, but my dogs consider it a treat and their coats are shiny and healthy.
by PAL13 on 07/11/2016
I bought these thinking: ok maybe my picky greyhound will eat it. No. She started eating these out of the food bin as I was pouring! Her teeth are amazing!
by SheenaCraig on 07/09/2016
I love the food so far BUT I have 1 mini-pun and 2 Chihuahuas. My Chihuahuas always need extra dental work during their dental visits. So I've become more aware of products to help them. Say this and though great. I get a little less food for about $10-$15 more dollars. There's also a doxie on the front the KIBBLE is HUGE. What the heck?! One of my Chihuahuas is an older guy he takes forever to eat it. I'm probably going to have to cut his in halves. Wish they would give you a preview of kibble size. My dogs have always had small nibbles. I wanted to cry. Ugh lets see how this bag goes.... And I used to be a vet tech
by MichelleMarie313 on 06/08/2016
After my dogs teeth were cleaned it was recommended that I switch to a dental care dog food. My vet provided me with a sample of HillsDiet after the procedures. My three dogs have other various heath concerns so I decided to add the dental care to their diet a a treat. The large chunks are perfect and the price is reasonable compared what I would pay for a boxes of treats. My dogs love them and I love that I am taking care of their teeth at the same time. Its hard to find dental treats of this quality and I feel better that HillsDiet was recommended by my vet for this reason.
by MARIAP on 05/20/2016
For some reason my dog loves this food, she will not eat any other type or brand of food, I started giving her this food because she is very small (only 4lbs) in hopes to prevent dental problems. The good news is that she has great teeth....
by MiChispita on 09/29/2015
My dog enjoys this food , and if it helps with his oral care even better.
by buddy8 on 09/21/2015
This food is sooooo good my dog can't wait to eat it. We like it because of its size which helps with reducing plaque buildup on her teeth.
by onesweetsydney on 09/07/2015
I have a 13 year old pointer husky cross that has always been a picky eater. After many years of much trial and error I have found she is much happier with the choice of both small and large kibble. The Science Diet Oral Care is the larger kibble and she just loves it ! More often than not she always gobbles up the Oral Care kibble first. I can even use it for treats, and she is as happy with it as a cookie. The "VELCRO" closure on the bag is just genius , easiest dog food bags I have ever used. Why don't all brands use that ? Her teeth are amazing as well, certainly doesn't show her age at all. Thanks Science Diet for making my life so much easier !
by SuziesMom on 08/10/2015
5 stars keep the coupons coming. I.m unemployed and love to feed my dog and cats the best and it helps by having coupons monthly.

by canlish on 11/07/2014
Not sure how people know the taste has improved but my dog loves the new improved taste. He used to eat it because it was there, now he eats it much more eagerly. I know it's important for his dental health, so thank you for making it taste better for my dog. I tell everyone I know about this product.
by oilerstim on 10/25/2014
Was recommended by Vet to help with oral care. Seems to help with tartar.
by Daisy6 on 10/11/2014
Finally a big chunk bite dog food that is Healthy and both of my dogs devour it. Great quality I feel and apparently my dogs feel the same way.
by Puccie on 10/06/2014
I started using Oral Care after my vet recommended it because my dog began developing tarter on her teeth. The food did nothing to fight the tarter or plauqe, me nor my vet noticed any difference. I brush her teeth and still use the food at my vets recommendation.
by KS1987 on 10/03/2014
The vet recommends the food but it sure cuts into our budget.
by Cashew on 09/22/2014
We use the Adult Oral Care as treats. My poodle loves these as treats and they are excellent for her dental health She comes running when I call her for these treats.
by saralee on 09/17/2014
We used the Oral Care food as treats for our Yorkie. He loved it so much he would chase after it and gobble it up just it was a treat.
by Indie on 09/17/2014
Both dogs eat it great, healthy hair coat, and great looking teeth.
by loper73 on 09/15/2014
It is convenient to use and the dogs like it a lot
by Beebo on 09/12/2014
Because the kibble size is much larger than most, my three dogs enjoy the Hills Science Diet ORAL CARE dry dog food as a tasty, extra big crunch, mixed in with other dry food at mealtimes, and they eagerly gobble them up when I offer them up as treats. They thoroughly enjoy this product at any time at all ! Thanks for creating such a versatile dog food (AND treat) product !
by 4Miyaka4 on 09/08/2014
My German Shepherd LOVES this food! It helps keep her teeth clean and healthy. I wish I could get the larger size bags since they are more economical, in stores, but can only find them online.
by Babs1 on 08/28/2014
I started mixing this in with their other food and they picked out the Oral Care as they love it. My only concern is it is quite expensive and rarely goes on sale at any pet store
by Madre on 08/16/2014
This is a very nice dog food, one our dog LOVES. The flavor obviously appeals to him and the price is ok.
by cdziuba on 08/15/2014
Our dog loves this food and does very well with it, and the neighbor dog loves coming to our house, he can't wait to get a treat of our dogs dog food, so I gave her a coupon I had so she could get her dog to eat it from now on because he loves it and does very well with it too, so they are now off the store type. Good ending wouldn't you say?
by Snooks on 08/07/2014
My dog's love this dog food. I was concerned at first because my dogs had been on grain free, but so far no skin problems and I do believe it is helping with their Oral Care.
by Keywest3 on 08/07/2014
My dogs love this food and I love how it helps take care of their teeth. I toss a few pieces of this in each of their bowls with each meal - combined with fairly regular teeth brushing, they have healthy teeth and less build-up.
by renaynay78 on 07/11/2014
I use Hills Oral Care as treats for my dog. He loves them and they have reduced the tartar and plaque on his teeth significantly.
by bailey8 on 07/04/2014
My dogs love the flavor, and beg for their oral care kibbles every day. I use these large size kibbles as treats for training and as rewards for doing their duties outside. I am already noticing how the food acts as a toothbrush and scrapes off any loose tarter from their teeth, and helps maintain a healthy and happy mouth!
by Udispeck6 on 05/30/2014
This food makes a great treat for my dogs. It is a little large, so I think that they would get tired of chewing such large pieces if I gave it to them as their food. But for a treat; they think it is fantastic. I like the fact that it cleans the teeth unlike some other treats that they love and I like the fact it is made by a trusted source instead of a company I am unsure about.
by jessrhismi on 05/21/2014
Since these pieces are larger and I have small dogs I am using these for treats. My dogs love them and they are getting their teeth cleaned at the same time. So many treats today are made in other countries and you can't trust what you are getting. Hill's is a name I can trust and my vet recommends. I feel confident giving them Oral Care and they think they are being rewarded for something. We both are happy!
by elliemaye22 on 05/07/2014
I really liked this food. It's less messy (fewer crumbs) than the T/D diet, which I liked. My dogs enjoyed the food, and I gave it to them as a treat as well. The only downside I've found is the feeding guide. I really like that the T/D diet tells you how many kibbles are in a cup to make it easier to feed a small dog. The Oral Care does not, and the kibbles are large enough that measuring out my small dog's portion was difficult. I wish the feeding guide gave the number of kibbles per cup like T/D does. Otherwise, great food!
by T0427 on 05/05/2014
The kibbles looked pretty large at first, but they are supposed to bite into it and crunch it up, which my dog does with gusto! It seems to be basted in something that my dog really likes and he took to it right away. He likes it a bit too much maybe because some of the time he just swallows them whole (what a pig!). However, I feel when he does bite into it is is scraping his teeth, thus "brushing" them in a way. I feel good feeding him this as it has all the quality I have come to expect in a Science Diet product.
by peahen on 05/01/2014
Both of my dogs loved this food. I was surprised because they usually prefer small chunks. They pushed all other food out of the way so they could just eat the Oral Care food.
by SusanY on 04/30/2014
It's hard to find one dog food that both my dogs will eat, but they both really like this. And I noticed an improvement in their breath immediately. I am really happy with this food because it actually does what it's supposed to do AND they like it!
by SKN88 on 04/29/2014
I feed my dogs these as treats. The smaller velcro bag is awesome! They are great especially if you have a dog that mainly eats canned food - these add a bit of crunch to help clean their teeth instead of a "milk bone" type treat. These are much healthier and my dogs love them. The only complaint I have is that they should also come in a smaller size for really small dogs. I have to cut them in half for a few of my dogs that cannot get their mouths around a whole one. I definitely recommend them!
by Enailgirl on 04/26/2014
We went to a nutritionist at our veterinary clinic. Our goldens feces were often very soft and very foul-smelling. I hate to say it but it times he would put it in his mouth. When we switched to oral plus his stool became more solid with significantly less odor. Presumably some of this is because of the increased fiber in the oral plus. He loves the food and all problems have been resolved.
by Levi2 on 04/25/2014
We've used Oral Care for years and our dogs love it. It definitely helps their teeth and breath. The dogs don't like the new recipe - please bring back the old one!!
by Brownie on 04/23/2014
First of all this was recommended by my Vet. We've had small breeds in the past, usually Cocker Spaniels. This time we have 2 Maltese. Our dogs not only love this food, but have EXCELLENT Teeth! Look at the ingredients... the first mentioned is "Chicken".... not "Chicken Meal" etc. like most dog foods. Chicken Meal is skin, flesh and bone of chickens etc..... its the "etc." part that bothers me. I highly recommend this dog food for your dog. It's a little pricy, but you get what you pay for.
by Pastor on 04/22/2014
I feed this to my Papillon in addition to brushing her teeth in order to help keep her mouth plaque free! She enjoys the food, her teeth are all looking good, her coat is thick and soft, and she seems to be doing great overall so I'm happy with the product!
by Soleil on 04/08/2014
we have fed this product to our bichon frise as a treat, over and above his regular diet, since he was a puppy. over his lifetime his teeth have always gotten good reports at the time of his annual check-ups. he is now 12 1/2 years old, has never had to have his teeth cleaned and has no tooth decay problems. we now have a 1 1/2 year old bichon/shih-Tzu, mix, she loves it too. this has been and hopefully will continue to be a great product for pets and there owners. sincerely, gene

Was feeding my 3-yr old Bichon another brand of lamb, meal & rice dry dog food. Noticed a little discoloration on a couple of her teeth. Purchased the Adult Oral Care dry food, mixing it with her old food. She ate all of the Adult Oral Care food, leaving the old food behind. Did this everytime I tried to mix the food. She LOVES the Adult Oral Care. All she wants to eat. After the second bag, her teeth look GREAT! Wish it was sold in a bigger size bag!

I have always fought with the resealable bag closures and invariably gave up and transferred the food to a plastic tote. The new velcro close bags are WONDERFUL!!!!!
by TracieDM on 11/07/2013
I have a 7 pound dog with tiny features, but the only food she will eat is the oral care. Even though the chunks are large, she chomps away at it until it is gone. The vet has commented on her teeth. It really helps keep her mouth cleaner.
by Kathy13 on 10/21/2013
The new Velcro closure does a great job sealing up the bag, I have a small dog with a small appetite and always had to transfer it to another container to keep it fresh! My dog loves this food and I think it does cut down on the tartar. I wasn't sure if she could handle the large kibble, but no problem she plays with each kernel and then crunches away on them!
by Jbt1954 on 10/18/2013
Not only do our dogs like the Oral Care dry food but it does reduce the amount of plaque and tartare on their teeth which subsequently reduces dental treatments by our vet, and saves me money.
by Flip on 09/30/2013
I use the oral care for a treat with their regular food. They each get 2-oral cares with their food in the morning and also 2-oral cares with their evening meal. The oral care is great for the dogs teeth and gums and they all love them too!!!!!!!!!!
by 4Schnauzers on 09/29/2013
I give these as treats for my GSD. He looks forward to it daily and enjoys the taste, crunch, and treat!
by Crystalfox on 09/28/2013
Though my dog, Sally, is perfect in every way, her teeth are not. She has teeth without any enamel and, on the others, it's very thin. My vet recommended Oral Care after having her teeth cleaned 7 years ago and it really has helped over the years to minimize the tarter buildup. It must taste pretty darn good too because there's never any left after dinner time.
by Lorilou on 09/28/2013
the oral care formula does help cut down on the breath smell some but does not take it away completely. It does make cats breath more tolerable.
by LPember on 09/26/2013
We've been using Oral Care for our dogs since they were pups... We just brought our 13 year old dog to the vet for her annual check-up, and the vet was AMAZED at how clean her teeth were!! Attached is the pretty girl showing off her pearly whites :)
by Sooz on 09/26/2013
I was once demonstrated this kibble's capabilities at a seminar. I was so amazed that I knew my dog needed this kibble. I've been feeding it for just over four months now. I hardly see any plaque build up when I brush my dog's teeth now. And his breath has greatly improved. Keep up the great work!

by MAMARUTT on 06/29/2013
I have been using the oral care since it first came out for all my dogs past and present. I can go much longer between teeth cleanings. It is a great product nutritionally with the bonus of cleaner teeth. A fine product from a name I trust for my dogs health. I even use it for a treat as my schnauzer loves it. Thanks Science Diet!

I have 2 older miniature Dachshunds. My 15yr old takes one and throws it up in the air a few times then finally will eat, My 13yr old takes one and dares the other to take it away from him. It is a joyful sight to see them play and how much they love the oral care food they think its a real treat.
by Shirley52 on 06/29/2013
My dog absolutely LOVES Science Diet Oral Care and gobbles up every last morsel! Our veterinarian noticed an improvement in the health of my dog's teeth and I couldn't be happier with the product. I also LOVE the new Velcro seal. Nice addition!
by ShnibblesUNC on 02/27/2013
My 5 year old dog loves this stuff. I noticed her teeth are getting yucky and I have noticed they appear whiter since she has been eating this and her dog breath isn't as pungent.
by cherrd22 on 08/18/2012
I got this because my dog loves coming and panting right in my face. Let's just say his breath was pretty rancid. Since he has been eating the Oral Care I can't smell his breath anymore. His teeth are a very pretty white as well. My only complaint is that the food only comes in the really big bag or the really small bag. I wish they sold a medium sized bag.

Orals make a great mid-day snack. They clean the teath and fill the belly!
by mdweitzel on 06/04/2012
Our vet recommended Orals for our pup because she has bad teeth. They were a hit, but she wanted them all of the time. So to fix the problem, the Orals became her treats. She's happy!

Oral care made our "Gulper" slow down and enjoy her food. She has less stomach issues and cleaner teeth now.
by njweitzel on 05/31/2012
I bought the Oral Care food just as a preventative so that I could try to ensure that my Pearly's teeth stay healthy. After first mixing it with her old food, she started to specifically pick those out and eat them immediately, almost as if they were treats. Not only is it great for her teeth and such a great brand, but she loved this food more than any other kind.
by Jolivi9 on 05/20/2012
I purchased the Oral Care dry dog food for my dachshund over 3 months ago. Since she's been on this food, I've noticed that the area near her gumline is looking healthier and the plaque buildup appears to be lessening. Besides this, it seems that my dog prefers this food over the other Science Diet dry dogfood that she's been on in the past.
by Sophia on 05/17/2012
We have tried several different kinds of dry food for our dogs during these years. They usually have loose poops when trying the new food. We decided to try some science diet food when they were having promotion. To our supprise, none of our dogs have any discomfort when switching to this brand. They love it! I also like the smell and the touch of this food. Their breath smell gets significantly better, and they have regular poops twice per day on time! Magic food. Thanks.

I have four dogs ranging in size from a 15-lb miniature Cocker Spaniel to a 70-lb German Shepherd, and they all love this product. My German Shepherd is now a senior dog, so he only gets a small amount in the morning to help with his teeth, and the rest of the time he gets the lamb and rice formula. I also have to cut the chunks to make it easier for the little girl to eat them because the chunks are rather large. But the food does improve the tartar build up on their teeth, and they all enjoy the taste.
by TheBrat on 05/16/2012
This food has helped keep the plaque build up, etc. down on our dog.

My dog loves Science Diet Oral Care Bites. It is actually his favorite food, It is effective in keeping his breath fresh and teeth cleaned. My 6 year old dog has never required a cleaning from the vet. ( I do brush tiwce a week in addition to the Oral Care Bites) I will continue to use this product.

In today's busy times, it can be quite easy to forget about the oral health care of our pets. Hills Adult Oral Care food is a great way to help us become more "efficient" with this problem. Keep up the great work!
by ATXVeterinarian on 05/16/2012
My dogs switched from regular Adult Lamb and Rice to Oral Care and they love it! They have been on Science Diet from day one, and we consistently are praised by people for how healthy their coats look, how much energy they have, how healthy they are in general. They love the food, I think they almost think it's a bowl of treats sometimes. They won't touch anything other than SD (excepting when we make them organic hot food as a treat occasionally-even that, we have to top with some SD). We selected Science Diet based on experience, veterinary recommendation, and the fact that many (most) other dog foods seem to have a high incidence of recalls due to hazards to animals. Hills clearly places the same level of importance on our pets health and happiness as we do-and this is so greatly appreciated. Highly recommend Oral Care for any animals with chewing problems as well. Our dogs both have heft underbites, and this food is easier for them to chew, and helps with general oral care. Thanks Science Diet! Every product of yours we have tried has been a home run, including your line of treats.

My veterinarian recommended that I try the Hill's Science Oral Care for my Yorkie who has developed tooth decay and bad breath. She has just finished 1 bag and already I can tell a big difference of the amount of tartar that is on the teeth. And her breath is smelling much better already. I was very pleased with this product and Mollie Sue loves the taste and I will continue to buy the product for her. I only wished they would make a smaller nugget for the smaller dogs. The nugget looks like it is made for a bigger dog so I have to cut it in half for her in order for her to chew it better. It really doesn't take so long to do and she is so well worth it. Thank you, Betty B. Concordia, KS
