I have this bag of dog food and the protein amount is 15.5% and fat is 10.5%. I bought this specifically for a dog with start of kidney issues. Can anyone explain the difference values?

Been using the 7+ formula for year. My 65# Lab has had NO issues with it. Bought new bag and noticed that kibble size was half the size it normally was. Each piece used to be about the size of a marble, now they are flat discs . Thought they accidentally put "bite size" into the regular bag. Had used up the old bag so had to start feeding her this. After 3 days her stomach was all messed up-major gas & diarrhea. She doesn't chew these as much as she chewed the old kibble. they are too small. Called Science Diet, they told me that YES they changed the kibble size and they ALSO ADDED INGREDIENTS (brewers yeast & soy) to the formula that weren't there before. NO where on the package does it indicate a change was made or formula "improved". Very disappointed. if package was labeled such, we would have integrated this into what we had left of the old bag. If your dog has issue with the new formula, please call them and report it! While they offered me coupons, they don't feel they need to alert consumers of changes to their products on the packaging. Would have bought it still, but dog wouldn't be suffering as much.

We switched from the Science Diet Active Adult to this one, and I am so impressed!!! Our dogs, who are "starving all the time" (we feed twice a day) can not even wait for us to add toppings to their food anymore. Which is great, we were having to make chicken stock to get them to eat and now they can't get enough. But what I really wanted to express joy over was their coats. They both suddenly shed massive amounts of hair a few weeks ago, to reveal these gorgeous, soft new coats! My pitbull feels like one of those cuddly blankets from target she's so soft! So shiny too!!!

I have feed science diet products to our family dogs for over 20 years, from AKC champion Gordon Setters to a field trained Golden Retriever, and now my beloved rescue mix. It is simply the best. You can see the difference in the energy and overall condition of my dogs. This will be TMI, but if the stool isn't normal then my dog goes to the vet. Great products!

My dog has been on Hill's Science Diet since he was a puppy. It has kept him healthy, fit and has always had a shiny coat. As he has matured over the years I have advanced to the next stages of food within the Science Diet line. I just purchases 2 bags of Lamb & Rice dry dog food - 33# bags. My dogs like this dry food the best so far. It has good kibble size and color. I would recommend this dog food to anyone.

I like feeding my pets Hill's products because they are happier and healthier. My first pet lived for 23 years, and I believe it was because of the nutritional value of Hill's Science Diet food products.My pets have wonderful vet checkups and have never been ill. Their coats are shiny and full, eyes bright and full of life. As long as I keep feeding them Hill's Science Diet food products, I don't see that changing.

I have been feeding my 11-yr-old dog a single source protein/no grain food the last number of years as regular dog food gave her shedding and itching problems. However, a couple of years ago she was really showing her age...lots of limping (especially at night) and buckling during walks. I took her to a vet for x-rays & examination but all looked well and healthy. The vet said the food I was giving her was too much protein and would be hard on the kidneys for a dog her age. So I started her on Hill's Active Longevity a couple months ago and now she acts like she is 5 again...playing, prancing, running, and no more limping. Thanks Hill's for turning back the clock!

I noticed before we started using this food that my larger dog who is around 75 lbs and 7 years old, when he would get up from laying down in one spot for a while he would be a little stiff and limp some, this has greatly improved since he has been on this food which was recommended by the place we use to board our dogs! :) We absolutely Love it ! I fed Science Diet to my dog before he passed away from old age and I was always happy with it. He always happily ate his food& it made his skin & coat look good. I like science diet because it is the only clinically tested food that actually does what it says on the bag! Also, the ingredients are consistent from bag to bag unlike many of the grocery brands that constantly use whatever ingredients happen to be the cheapest that day. When I happen to adopt another dog, I will definitely continue to use Science Diet!

My chow mix rescue is 14.5 years old and I have fed her this dry food for the past several years. She is getting up in age but is still healthy and the correct weight with more energy than most dogs her age. My vet and I agree that her food has contributed to her longevity along with regular check ups and shots and lots of love. I tried the Blue brand and it made her sick even though it is supposed to be natural and better, Roxie does not agree. We love this product and will not switch!

Oscar was on Oral Care for maybe longer than he should have, but when the recipe changed the product was definitely harder and coated with a stronger smelling sauce. We tried another highly rated brand and it gave him pooping issues. Tried the Mature and things are so much improved for the ol' guy. I think we're back to where we need to be.

I love knowing my old man is getting the proper, well balanced, nutrition for his age. He doesn't act 13 all the time and I'm sure it's because the ingredients in his food are geared towards his life stage- I especially like the extra omega 6 fatty acids, glucosamine, and chondroitin for his joints and mobility, omega 6 and vitamins e for his skin and coat, and how it's easier to digest now that his tummy is becoming more sensitive. Before I took a courses in Veterinary Medicine, I was unaware of the existence of the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) and its standards. I also didn't realize that dog food is not all about a high protein content. Turns out too much of a good thing can be harmful! Feeding one's dog or cat according to its age and activity level is crucial to its overall health as well. Because agency minimums must be met, if you're feeding a food for ALL stages, then it's PUPPY food, since puppies have the highest requirements for any given nutrient. While puppy food is great for dogs under 1 year of age, the extra protein level is not optimal for adult dogs and especially senior dogs because it stresses their kidneys. Science Diet understands this. They balance the ingredients and label their products accordingly, so you know you're getting exactly the right combination of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. My two 13 year old Golden Retrievers love the taste and are in excellent health because they are eating the best possible food available-Hill's Science Diet.

My husband & I have a 7yr old Aussie & a 7yr old Lab mix on this food. Their energy levels are high, their coats look great, & aside from the gray hairs that are beginning to pepper their muzzles, you'd never guess them to be seniors. Huskies are notorious for being picky eaters, and this dry food has been a successful choice for them -- I mix it with a different flavor of wet food each night to keep them interested, and it's working! Given the ingredients, the price could be lower, and making it available for purchase beyond specialty pet stores would allow competition to make it affordable for more customers.

I switched my dog to Science diet several years ago. I noticed within days my dog was more energetic. After a few weeks my dog had lost a couple excess pounds and looked leaner and her coat was shinier. I often get compliments on how shiny her coat is now. Although the initial price is more than average brands, my dog eats less of Science diet than she did of the average brand I had been feeding her. I am only paying a couple bucks more a month for Science diet verses the average brand, and the results are so worth it. Science diet is packed with her nutritional needs, not bulk she doesn't need. A huge benefit of this is less waste to clean up, as less waste goes in. When we got a new puppy a year and a half ago we started her right away on Science diet.

We switched from another Science Diet product and began feeding this to our aging English Setter after a vet check-up. Our dog will turn 13 in a few days and over the last year or so we had noticed that her age had really caused her to slow down.Previously she had some difficulty wih her joints and getting up from a lying down position, but we feel that this food has improved her mobility and activity level, allowing her to function much more like her younger self.

My mastiff is really picky when it comes to eating. She hates all dry food so she doesn't want to eat ny brand. So my main concern is that she eats good ingredients so she can live a healthy life. She may not like her food unless I cover it in meat and veggies, but it's good to know that it is good for her.

I have been feeding my older dog this food for about 6 months and she loves the taste and it has helped her get her active lifestyle back. Before she would whine when she would lay down and she had stopped jumping, now with this food she is jumping up to play and jumping on the couch, which is quite a feat for a 75lb, 12 year old dog and no whines when she lays down. My 9 year old Malamute has been on this food for 2 years and is still an active dog ready to hike, play with her toddlers and unfortunately, dig up the back yard. The only recommendation I would suggest is to add some/more antioxidants for brain health since it is not only the body that ages.

I have 8 rescued dogs and they are all older dogs. I feed them Science Diet Longevity because it helps there skin and hair. My 2 Great Pyrenees and Black Lab's looked so bad when I first got them, but after a month of Science Diet Longevity, they look great now! I took my oldest Great Pyrenees to our local county fair and she won the over all for the day! I recommend Science Diet Longevity for your older dog to act like a young pup again!

My dogs simply love the flavor, and i love the smell of Active Longevity. Most brands have an old oil smell that seems unwholesome. There are also fewer stools to remove from the yard which tells me that more nutrients are being absorbed into my dog's bodies. The difference in price between store brands and Science Diet is worth the money because of the better quality. The fact that my pets love it is a bonus. It is easy to find the product in any pet supply store or at my Veterinarian's office. I will not switch from Active Longevity because my pets are too important to me and i want them to be a part of my life as long as possible. It is comforting to know that Science Diet loves my pets too.

I feed this product to my 8-yr-old spayed white rescue Doberman (Luna). She is very finicky so I know this food tastes great or she wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft pole. We started our now 11+ yr old boxer on this formula over 3 years ago. He has thrived on it, remains very active, and healthy. He loves to exercise! My dogs have eaten this product for years. My husband tried to change to a cheaper product but my poor doggies didn't like the new brand. My dogs started licking the walls and my furniture. The vet said that the dog food was lacking some nutrients so we had to go back to this brand and my dogs went back to normal.

My dogs love Hill's Science Diet Mature Adult Active Longevity. Energy levels are maintained throughout the day, sleep improved, and they maintain healthy body physiology and function. In addition, waste management is easy. I will not switch to another dog food at this stage of their lives since they are so healthy.

This product is great on so many levels! The best feature is even though it is good for your animal, your animal's taste buds won't know it! My dog gets more picky the older he gets & Science Diet covers ALL of his needs & he loves it!!

I have been serving Science Diet to my dogs for six years. Recently, I switched them over from Adult to Senior food and am amazed at how differently they are acting. It is as if they have dropped years off their age. They look great and act so much younger! I appreciate the special formulas that Science Diet offers for my babies.

She is almost 8 yrs old. The active longevity helps maintain her weight and she has so much energy people can't believe she is that old.

My nine-and-a-half year old chocolate lab started having some mobility problems, primarily stiffness with his rear legs. I researched available foods that would promote optimal functioning for his age without medication. After a couple of weeks of eating the Mature Activity/Longevity food, I noticed a significant difference in his mobility. Even though he is aging, I believe the food he is consuming has increased his ability to get up from laying positions without discomfort and move around more frequently.

We have four dogs and four cats. They have all been on Science Diet thier whole lives and for some that is over ten years. The last thing you want with a lot of pets is Vet bills. We have had literally few vet bills and none from their diet. The Vet always comments on the color and coats of our pets. We swear by Science Diet all types. I wish my health was as good as our pets.
