Works great and the dogs love them. Just wish it came in another flavor for the pup who is allergic to chicken.

My lab just had dental work under anesthesia. The vet reccomended t/d.I wont buy it because usually my lab takes one crunch and down her throat it goes.Problem is you make it way to small. It needs to be big and long like a carrot. We give her a raw carrot a big one and she eats it by breaking pieces off.It lasts longer and gets crunched in her teeth.
by Ted on 05/25/2023
I give my Newfoundland these as "treats" and he loves them. Just the right size for a Newf. We have been doing this for about 5 years and he is still happy to get them. I can figure them into his kibble calorie measurement as we always watch his weight.

Introduced the food for dental care to supplement my dogs regular dry food. Started gradually however he has had a terrible reaction to the food after a couple of days & I've spent the last week dealing with diarrhea & vomiting and vet visits. This has been a very distressing time for both my dog and myself. For those who may ask, I am an experienced dog owner of many years across a number of breeds and have bred and shown dogs. This is the first time I've written a negative review on any product, which has been prompted by my concern about the product. Although the product may not be suitable for my dog due to his terrible reaction, this may not be the case in all dogs, so my advice would be for owners to monitor their dog/s really carefully and if this type of reaction occurs or if you have any doubts whatsoever, please don't delay in seeking advice from your vet.

I give my hundred-pound golden retriever six large ones at bedtime. He is always excited about them. This saved him from needing an expensive dental cleaning
by Loves Goldens on 10/17/2022
My vet recommended this food for my dogโs dental care. I thought it was too expensive so she suggested using it as an occasional treat. Itโs been working out well that way. And my dog loves them!

I have four dogs 1.5kg, 5kg, 6kg & 7kg. They all have two t/d in the morning and two in the evening. Yes even my little Chihuahua can eat the large ones. T/d is a great complete food for him and added extra for the others
by Nicky on 04/18/2022
It is too big for my small dog. It refuses to eat it at all. Given how much it cost, I couldn't be asked to smash it down or to cut it in hald
by meg on 03/27/2019
We use the large dog kibble for treats and to sprinkle on top of their canned food. Our dogs LOVE T/D food!
by DogLvr on 01/30/2019
I bought a bag last month and though my 6 pound and 12 pound dogs like it, the small bites are too big and I have to cut them in half with a knife or break them with a hammer. The hammer crushes them too much. Either way, its very time consuming. They are much bigger than other brands of small bite kibble. Approximately the size of a nickel or a little bigger. Its says some of the ingredients comes from over seas. I would like to know what those ingredients are. I wish they were listed.

I've been using this diet to keep both my dogs' teeth clean and I think the product is great. As a veterinarian, I see multiple dental products out there and I do think this is the best dental diet. My pets' teeth look great; I've seen some patients come in on other dental diets and the diets do not appear to be effective. The only down side to the diet is that it is a very dry diet, and I felt that in one my dogs it lead to some constipation. I resolved that issue by cutting it 50/50 with their regular OTC diet, and they do great. Some of my other clients use this as their pets' treat, making sure that they give several treats throughout the day to help keep the teeth clean. Others serve it as the primary diet.

Dogs can't resist this food! I recommend it fully to everyone....
by BarDen on 09/12/2016
T/D is very much loved by my pug. He goes crazy for it!! Just say, "TD" and he gets super happy! It has helped keep his teeth clean... and apparently the flavor is great too.
by Linda Z on 08/22/2016
I've been using the t/d canine formula for several years to help keep my older (he's 11 now) dog's teeth cleaner. The product has been doing a fine job! There are only two problems. 1) I've been feeding dry dog food for over 50 years. This is the worst smelling dry food I've ever used! and 2) My dog doesn't like the taste of it, and is getting to where he won't eat it!
by Shirley Burley on 08/02/2016
My dog eats extremely fast, so fast that she doesn't bother to even chew small sized dog food. Started her on this a few years ago to help eliminate her choking and gagging on her food. The larger size nuggets force her to at least take a couple bites out of each piece. It keeps her teeth and breath clean and fresh too, hopefully eliminating the need for dental cleaning.
by Redbug on 07/10/2016
My dog loves these dental treats. I believe they are keeping his teeth and gums in good health!
by Sammy on 03/29/2016
My dog is 8 years old, her teeth aren't in the best of shape. She loves her dry food, but I know that isn't enough and the kibble are so small. So I invested in Hills Science Diet T/D from my vet. I use them as treats instead of milk bones etc. My dogs think they are literally the best treats ever! With their old treats they would sniff it and look at me as if it say "do I ave to eat it?". With the T/D food, they never have to take a second sniff. I'm excited they really LOVE this as their treat (ssssh don't tell them it's really only dog food), and that it is helping their teeth in the long run too! The vet has mentioned that her teeth still look great at the age of 8, and the fact that she hasn't had a professional dental cleaning yet. Definitely recommend these for your animal, can use as the sole diet or just as treats like I do! They really work!
by maggie125 on 12/20/2015
I can tell that the t/d diet does work to help with oral health. my dogs' teeth stay healthier for longer periods of time when they eat it.
by kimba on 12/17/2015
I mix this with their canned food and they just love it. My son actually uses TD as a treat and his dog loves it as well.
by Agenuine1 on 10/10/2015
Both our toy poodles prefer T/D Small Bites over other dry food offerings. It provides good dental health & good breath.
by HazelDeeDee on 10/02/2015
No dog food smell and like choices in bag sizes. Seems fresh.
by sprout on 09/23/2015
I have dogs that are on jd diet and have been doing great on it but I needed that something extra to help with tarter buildup. I also wanted an affordable treat. I began buying the 5lb td small bites and use it as treats for my dogs. Not only is it a healthy snack for my babies, but I know it is coming from a highly reputable company with quality standards. It has made a difference in their breath and has helped with tarter. The bag lasts quite some time as well (I have 3 babies) I have always been very pleased with Hill"'s prescription diet foods and highly recommend! Keep up the great work!
by kimmybruno on 05/20/2015
My dog, Lucy, is a very picky eater. I add in T/D treats to her diet to help entice her to eat as well as clean her teeth.
by LucyTheStBernard on 05/20/2015
As a Veterinary Technician I feed the science diet T/d which is a dental food. I am pleased with this product as well as my two Boston Terriers. Keep up the good work Hills
by Ashley08 on 05/19/2015
I feed my dachshunds TD because my veterinarian, Dr. Traber, recommended this excellent dental diet. My dogs are almost 3 years old and I can say with confidence that their dental health is a direct result of them eating TD since young pups. I love it!
by Doxies on 05/19/2015
The vet clinic I work at has large t/d bags on sale, but finished giving out their t/d samples. Knowing my fussy 11 year old chihuahua, I hopped around town looking for a pack of sample to try before purchasing it. We've wasted a lot of different packs of kibbles throughout his early life, so I just wanted to make sure he likes it before wasting money and another pack of good food. Much to my disbelief, he starts munching and crunching the nuggets (original sized bites!)! He takes much more time to finish 1 nugget than other dental chews like greenies which I think should have more cleaning effect on his tartar laden teeth! He's going to get dental done soon, so hopefully this time t/d will help his teeth stay clean! I'm so happy he's loving it and I'll definitely go buy a pack to try!
by Chrixteee on 11/20/2014
When we first found my pup a few years ago his teeth were in horrible shape. He wouldn't let us brush and we didn't know what to do. Our vet gave him his routine dental cleaning and prescribed the T/D dental food. The next year that we came in the vet was amazed and said he won't be needing a cleaning any time soon. This stuff really works!
by Daniel on 10/21/2014
My dog is 11 years old and very fussy, she loves the Hills brand and the Dental bites work very well on her. Everyone comments on how white her teeth are for her age and I say it is thanks to Hills t/d Oral Health food.
by KC11 on 10/17/2014
my dogs love the TD, i use it as treats! great for their teeth! love it!
by maryn on 10/16/2014
Our dogs need regular teeth cleaning as it is too difficult for them to allow us to effectively brush their teeth. The t/d dental large chunk food, effectively controls the tartar development while they seem to enjoy the taste. I feed it as a supplement after their normal feeding.
by TheLonz on 10/04/2014
I was very sceptical that this dog food would work and also taste good .my dogs are a little particular about r their food especially dry dog food. My vet insisted that my young dog have the dental food as her teeth had to be removed because of plaque. Now I am a believer ....the dogs love their big food. I can definitely justify the cost vs dental problems .
by tiffy on 09/16/2014
I work at an animal hospital, and as such receive samples from other companies. I tried a competitor's dental diet, and my dogs refused to eat it. From now on, t/d is the only food they get!
by JenT99 on 09/04/2014
After dental procedures we routinely send a sample of T/D and an information flyer with our patients. The diet is very palatable and does an excellent job of keeping plaque down to a minimum. This allows us to maintain our patients dental health and minimize the amount of dental procedures needed. This diet definitely achieves if not surpasses its dental claims!
by raescritters on 09/04/2014
On our spring visit to the vet he pointed out that our 8 yr old black lab was getting tartar build up. He recommended we try t/d dental dry food. At first I was giving it as treats. I couldn't believe the short period of time it took for his teeth to start looking clean! Not that my dog had doggie breath but there is no hint at all regarding dog breath. Now we mix about 25% t/d in his daily feedings. This is one of the best canine products. I love when he smiles and those teeth look great. I point it out to our fellow dog owner friends all the time. When they come visit, they get t/d as treats! My dog will never have to worry about being put under for dental cleanings and the trauma (me) that goes along with it.
by Lovemydog4141 on 08/27/2014
I do still catch a whiff of stinky dog breath every once in awhile. Also, the product is VERY expensive. Will have to wait to go to the vet to really find out if it's helped with her teeth. She does seem to enjoy the taste so that's a plus, but then again she's never been really particular.
by CorgiFudge on 08/26/2014
My 2 Huskies 11 & 12 have been eating these TD bites all their life right before bed time. 6 each and of course their doctor uses them to divert the dogs attention while drawing blood. I feel they do a great job of keeping the dogs teeth clean and breath fairly good.
by Boats on 08/25/2014
My dogs love the taste as well as myself who loves the overall dental health benefits! They actually think it's a bowl full of treats!
by griffin1110 on 08/24/2014
My dog " Buddy " has been using TD on a daily basis for 9 years. He recently went in for a yearly and the Vet said his overall gum/dental health was excellent. He eats the TD like were giving him treats. Its great that one can address a health issue with diet. Thank you
by Hobbit on 08/11/2014
my dog loves the big, crunchy bites. He eats his food immediately.
by Akinom on 08/02/2014
I love this product because all my dogs love getting this food as a treat. It is something they look forward to everyday. It prevents tartar as well as help reduces it.
by Loperk on 07/18/2014
It is a great product. I only wish the small bites t/d were available in the larger bag. I was informed they were only available in the small size bag. My dog was so used to eating smaller kibble that he breaks the large kibble in several pieces to eat it. A bit messy when he eats but likes the product. Greatly helped his dental issues.
by Gini on 07/15/2014
I have 3 yorkies with teeth cleaning needs. The kibble is a bit large for their small mouths, but they do seem to chew it up with some effort, (which is what is suppose to clean the teeth)and tend to carry it to a carpeted area to chew it. I think that it keeps it from sliding around while they break it up with their teeth. They seem to like the taste of it. It is a little bit expensive but you can usually get a coupon online. It must be purchased from a veterinarian.
by my3yorkies on 07/07/2014
When I had cats they had the feline version and it was like magic on their teeth so naturally I wanted to give it to my dog. Unfortunately, even the small bites are way too big for my 4.5 lb. Yorkie. I can't chop them up because then they are too sharp for her mouth and too crumbley to be effective. Her mouth and her teeth are way smaller than the smallest of my cats and she just can't manage even the small bites. I really hope Hills recognizes that there are now millions of tiny dogs out here that need cat-sized bites for their minuscule mouths. Such a great product except for this.
by Clara on 06/25/2014
My dogs are happy with the food. Helping keep their teeth clean. Lots of crunching
by 4106 on 06/05/2014
I have an 80# Husky mix and a 19# Sheltie mix and they both LOVE this food. I was unsure if the kibbles would be too big for my small dog but she actually swallowed the Small Bite T/D whole! This is one of the few foods my dogs like enough to feed as their main diet and give it to them as treats.
by Stacy73 on 05/11/2014
This food was suggested to me to help keep my sheltie's teeth clean. It really helps! She had a dental, and afterwords this food has helped keep the tartar at bay! Lady loves them, carries each one over to her "spot" and happily chomps away!
by sheltienut on 05/07/2014
I have raised two great danes and two small breed dogs on T/D diet (regular bites) as treats with their Hills puppy food during their puppy stage and then as a complete diet from adult on. They have all absolutely loved it and thrived with beautiful skin and coats. And, best of all, it kept their teeth looking like puppy teeth. I worked in veterinary clinics for 23 years and saw T/D save people the cost of doing dentals many times when fed as a complete diet and I recommended it highly.
by carevetlady on 04/22/2014
My little 6 lb takes a piece and taunts the other two as she guards it under her head. If i need to pick her up i have to take that piece with me or she gets bent out of shape. She trained the other two to do the same, they love it so much. I feel the TD large bites are a nutritional way to clean my Cresteds' teeth as i feed them. Cresteds are known for their poor dentition. Dear Hills, please don't ever stop making the TD large bites or all of my dogs will be very sad.
by Cassio on 03/16/2014
I can't believe what a difference this product at made in my dogs teeth and breath and she loves the taste!!! I have told all my friends who have pets. I also love that there is always an online coupon.
by Sophie7411 on 02/20/2014
This product is a little pricey, but just the right size to stuff in large Kongs. My dog (and his friends) considers them treats so the bag lasts a little longer on a tight budget and gives my dog enjoyment for a while getting them out of his Kong when I leave.
by tstrubes on 02/11/2014
My miniature dachshund has, in the past, had dental problems, even leading to some teeth needing extracting. Our veterinarian suggested feeding him Hill's Dental Health t/d, dry, as a possible solution. For more than a year, he has been eating Hill's Dental Health t/d in dry form. He just had his annual physical and our vet remarked how clean his teeth are now. He does not like me to brush his teeth, so I have been relying on Hill's t/d to be effective. I am happy to say that Hill's claims are accurate. I will continue to feed my dachshund, as well as his "brother," our 4 year old "Maltoodle," Hill's dental health products. I am grateful that this product has been developed; I can rely on t/d to keep my little guys healthy. And they love the taste and the crunch.
by Willy66 on 02/06/2014
My dogs go crazy over this food. I live the fact that it helps keep their teeth clean also. They will do anything for some t/d.
by SamG13 on 02/04/2014
TD is an excellent diet. My dog loves it so much, I can give it as a treat. The most amazing thing about this food is it's ability to keep her teeth clean; it even can pull tarter off of her teeth! If you have difficulty brushing your dog's teeth, this good is a great alternative!!!
by Danakeresman on 02/04/2014
excellent and has improved our dogs dental health.
by Cal7 on 01/24/2014
The best food! Helps our dog maintain good dental health.
by kait034 on 01/18/2014
As a vet I consider T/D an essential part of home dental care. If the pet is doing well on their current food I recommend giving T/D as treats to help keep their teeth clean, and they love the taste.
by AniMom on 01/16/2014
T/D is my dogs fav - he loves to toss the large kibbles around and chase them for a bit before he devours them, almost like he is making the enjoyment of each kibble last just a little bit longer.
by masu on 01/02/2014
I've tried several foods (since I work in the veterinary field). Prescription Diet t/d is the favorite in my household. Even my small pomeranians eat the regular (versus small bite) version, and it's helped to reduce tartar and the need for dental cleanings!
by wyndwalker99 on 12/19/2013
This prescription diet helps remove plaque and is great when used in conjunction with other home oral care such as brushing.
by OC2013 on 12/19/2013
This is so much easier then trying to brush my dogs teeth and he loves getting them as a treat. We call them his "corn nuts" and he goes crazy for them.
by shellysmith123 on 12/19/2013
i like that these are large chunks for my dog to chew, hoping it helps with prevention of plaque. But the bag either comes in 25 or 5 lb bags. I would prefer it a size in between.
by SG57 on 12/12/2013
All if my dogs enjoy it. Happy dogs and clean Teeth
by Happydiana27 on 10/13/2013
The product works great, however, the seal on the bag is very cheap. I have gotten it to seal, but it takes forever. Also, the product dries up really fast then my dog refuses to eat it. I don't blame him, in order for him to eat it we have to break it up...with a hammer. I got some from the bottom of the bag later and he eats that without us breaking it.
by Roumph on 10/04/2013
Would recommend it for dogs that won't allow brushing
by Cosmo on 09/28/2013
My dog Samsun (2 year old Boxador) loves his new t/d bites, during the "transition" phase Samsun left all of his old food and only ate the new yummy bites! The kibble size is perfect for giving as a treat and a meal. Seeing my dog happy makes me happy plus the added bonus that its cleaning his teeth and he doesn't even know it!
by s1993 on 08/23/2013
I have three dogs on the this product, two just had dental cleanings and the tarter was not bad this time. This product works great and really helped, i highly recomend it
by Dixie123 on 07/15/2013
My dog is a large 48 lb Sheltie. I started this food as she has a problem with plague build up. I use an additive in her water, brush teeth daily, teeth professionally cleaned once a year. This food has prevented some of the plague build up problem but her teeth are still badly stained, gums red, build up is evident. Vet says she will need another cleaning. I am very dissappointed. She has been fed this product for over 1 year.It is the only food she gets. Feeding 3 cups a day and it is a fight to keep her weight in check.
by Sheltieluvr on 03/04/2013
I haven't had to have her teeth cleaned in several years - worth every penny. I recommend using it as a supplement or a treat. My dog gets 8-10 nuggets a day along with her Advanced Nutrition Science Diet - that's all she needs to keep her teeth looking good.
