I had purchased this product before. This latest order is too runny. When some of this product is taken out of the can, the remainder flows into the vacated area. This is the first time I have had this issue. It is almost as if more liquid has been added as a filler. I am very unhappy about my purchase. I would appreciate some response to this issue.

I used to buy 24 cans for my diabetic kitty every single month for 2 years but now she would rather starve to death than eating it! First of all I find several big pieces of intestines in it! Second the smell of this formula is so disgusting and I don't blame my kitty for not wishing to eat it! This food is very expensive to buy so I find it only reasonable that you make a better formula on m/d canned food and omit intestines as much as possible in this product if you wish to have me as your future customer!

My cat is losing weight!!! But I am unable to purchase anywhere! OUT OF STOCK

My cat would not eat it. Only one flavor. I tried even mixing it with her favorite food. No luck! I am stuck with 23 cans of expensive cat food that no one will take. I can't even donate it.

Why have you stopped making this product? My cat has finally become stable on it and now I have to source another product. Please reinstate this

Why Hills why?? U changed the m/d canned and now my cat won't eat it! He's been in diabetic remission 5 years now and LOVED the tinned food as it was. ??

Please make more flavors! This liver formula is mushy and runny. He barely eats it. He loved the original flavor. So unfortunately we are switching brands. Such a shame. We have been buying from your company for 5 years, 2 cases a month.

Drastic weight loss due to failing intestines. 4.2lbs. Couldn't keep dry food down. 6mo to live. This high protein food has really helped her. She is maintaining 6.3lbs and it has been already!!! My only complaint...... The wet food was a soft pate. The new formula has made it literally like runny mush. She still eats it but has to lick it up instead of chewing.

Submitted this review a month or so ago, not sure why it didn't get posted to the website....so I'm trying again. I had my diabetic cat on this food for 12 months. In the last few months the texture of the product has changed and is now incredibly sloppy and the smell is different. Unsurprisingly the taste must have changed too, as my cat who usually loves her food began to be less enthusiastic and has since stopped eating m/d completely. Since this I have spoken to several other diabetic cat owners who have had the same experience since the product has changed, with their cats also refusing to eat the m/d. The thing about this situation that is really unacceptable, is that this food is recommended to unwell/diabetic cats. And these cats' insulin dosage (and in my case several other medications) have been tailored around the cats diet. So for that diet to change, and in the case of m/d for several users to have their cats completely stop eating the food, it can massively effect the management of the diabetes. In my case, we were close to having my cat at a stable and healthy blood glucose range. As a result of her stopping eating we've had to completely change diet and are now back to having uncontrolled diabetes which we are having to slowly work back to having under control. I personally will be keeping clear of all Hill's Prescription Diet products from now on. Not only is it miserably inadequate to change a product that is so intrinsically linked to the management of the condition it is designed for (diabetes) but it is severely concerning that cats like mine who loved their food are actually refusing to eat this product. I feel terrible for trying to get my cat to eat it.....and I'm concerned what has been added to the food which makes it so undesirable to eat. I'm incredibly disappointed with this product and company.

My cat is a picky eater but Will eat the m/d. However the product needs more flavors for picky kitties (like mine).

I have a cat that has Diabetes caused by Acromegaly (brain tumour pumping out growth hormones). He was largely unresponsive to insulin and after finding out about the tumour he has been operated on and is now recovering well. The whole time he has been on hills m/d and for a diabetic cat he looks great. Blood sugars are getting better every day and we are hopeful that he will go into full remission over the next few months. He was on 10.5 units insulin twice daily - after the tumour was removed... he is now on 1 unit in the morning. The food costs a lot but the end result is better for your cat - cannot recommend it high enough regardless of cost. I firmly believe the m/d diet is a good proportion of why he has remained in good condition throughout the last year and is recovering so well after the surgery.

My 5 year old, thin, male cat's blood sugar was very high. The Vet prescribed him this food for one week before we retested his sugar! This food lowered it immensely! We were all shocked. He is back to his old self! Thank you Hills!
by Ldip63 on 08/24/2016
Prescribed by the vet. But he will refuse it more often than not. How to get hon to ear it is the current challenge.
by DanEhrlich on 07/09/2016
We started using this product a few months ago, as prescribed by our vet. Our cat "Lilly" loves the taste and it appears to be working towards getting back her "girlish figure".

We see the benefits after three months but now he seems to walk away from the bowl more. Too bad there was not a chicken or fish variety.
by scotthon on 05/28/2016
Cats love it and keeps glucose in check. Expensive when feeding 2 cats MD wet and dry food everyday.

As far as a weight-loss regimen, the m/d has been the most effective for maintaining an optimal weight for my cat. He enjoys the food well enough, even though I do know it's not his absolute favorite. But the optimum process is that he eats it and he's healthy. That's the most important result.
by Bonnie924 on 03/12/2015
m/d is one of many options for our cat. we buy it when we can moreso as to provide variety complementing another brand of prescription diet much less expensive. Prescription diet used to offer coupons on their website and discontinued them for some time. I hope that they will resume the promotions as it helps take a bite out of the premium price we pay for the m/d. Not use if we will buy otherwise.

I have been feeding my cat this product for over a year and a half now. My cat enjoys this product and I would recommend this product too! For as long as my cat needs this procuct, I will be feeding him this, to keep him alive for as long as he needs it

This food is extremely expensive and my cat will not eat it. I have tried to sneak it to him on several occasions and I always get the same results.
by pilotswife on 10/07/2014
my cat has had serious obstacation (sic?) issues for years and has been on different Prescription Diets, but i believe we have finally found something that may be working! I am very pleased with the results i am seeing! and so is my cat!
by Nascats3 on 09/11/2014
My cat has health problems concerning glucose and digestion. He could not eat without throwing up after because of his issues. This he can keep down and likes it. We also use the dry MD food, which he loves. I have been able to control his glucose levels without insulin and I do think this is because this food was able to control the glucose by having the proper amount of carbs in it.

My cat loved M/D can for years, then suddenly the texture changed. Now I struggle with him to eat it. I hope that it was a bad lot and the quality goes back to the way it was.
by Kat28 on 05/24/2014
I buy both canned and dry CD and MD for my 4 cats. Both help with their health issues. However, getting coupons from Hills is next to impossible!
by ktymom4 on 05/14/2014
My two senior Maine Coon cats love the canned m/d and do very well on it.
by DianeRR on 05/13/2014
This is the most expensive cat foot brand but I know that it will not harm my two cats.
by ChicagoScott60641 on 04/11/2014
Our rescue cat would vomit multiple times during the day, he was always in near panic when it came to food and feeding time. It became clear after discussing this with our veterinarian that he is a cat that needs more protein and less carbs in his diet. Since we've been feeding M/D canned, and now the dry formula, too, he is very satisfied, no more panic or begging for food. His weight is stable and his activity level is even and playful.
by Noodles on 02/01/2014
My 3 picky eaters all love this. They are normally wary of any new food but all eat this with gusto.
by Chris202 on 12/12/2013
The Hills Prescription has regulated my cat'st blood sugar. It has also made his coat shiny and beautiful.
by JanT on 11/06/2013
Quality can be spotty. Often we find cartilage and/or veins in the food which were not ground up. Our cat usually does not eat it since it is tough to chew. M/D is very expensive. However, it is the only one our cat will eat consistently so we live with the cost and the issues.
