I love this food. My 3 dogs will not eat anything else
by Maisy on 09/12/2023
Received package of food, in great shape, grateful for the help from Aaliya!
by Scott on 09/13/2022
Hill's prescription is all my dog can eat due to allergies. As soon as we picked up a bag touting an "improved" formula, she snubs it. I'm not sure what improved means but my guess is there is less meat and more plant protein. Regardless, whatever it is she won't eat it.
by Steve on 07/26/2022
Seemed expensive, but has really helped with my dog's sensitive stomach. She also loves the food.
by Srini Kumar on 11/14/2021
Works great but kibble too big for my min pin. I have to break it up which is a pain. I don't know why it doesn't come in small kibble.
by JJ on 09/27/2021
I just started my third bag. Suddenly, my dog refused to eat the last 10 cups of the bag. He is usually very food driven and eats very quickly. Put out food and he looked at it sadly. Otherwise his behavior was very normal. Opened up new bag, and he resumed eating. I keep a tight container in the kitchen. It seems like a waste to throw it out. I tried feeding from the container again, and h refused the food. The cost makes me question this end of the bag refusal. The bag was not old. Not sure if I can recommend this. But will continue if prescribed. Smell of food is pleasant, and dog's digestion is ok. No rash visible.
by Charlie's owner on 05/26/2021
The kibbles are really big and we have two dogs that were placed on this food by our vet. The pieces are much too big for our Jack Russell and even our 40 pound dog has trouble with them. I can't gauge the quality of the food really because my dogs won't/can't eat it due to the large size of the kibble. They do love Science Diet small kibbles of other kinds.
by Varnell on 06/06/2020
Just love this product. My boy has stomach/bowel issues - i have spent a lot of time and money finding out what he can eat. Just love this product. He likes it too - so do his doggo friends !!!! I would be lost without these biscuits. I dont care about the high $, as I would spend any amount of money on my baby
by jo on 03/30/2020
My min pin looks and feels great. However, the kibble is way too big for her. I have to measure it out and put it in ziplock bags to break it up so she can eat it. What a pain. I contacted customer service a couple of years ago and asked if they would be making this in small kibble for small dogs. Still only one size. Make it for all dogs.
by JJ on 01/12/2020
Upon insistence of canine cardiologist. I gradually took my dog off the food he experienced no issues with all of his life. This food sickened him in three days - sores, vomiting & diarrhea.

My Maltese is 5.. Last year after her first little of baby's all hell broke loose about one month after pups were rehomed.. My girl was in misery! She would scratch till she bled! Her hair was coming out and I had done everything in my power to get her help.. Recently we visited a new vet. She put Her in Hills dd.. Duck & potato. My girl has been on it for almost two weeks and is without the cone of shame for the first time since August 2018. Thanks Hills!!!

I appreciate the limited ingredient formula-my boxers have many allergies, and cannot tolerate any hydrolyzed formula. I tried this DD product, but sadly, the fat content was too high for my 10 year old. I had to switch to Royal Canin. I wish that Science Diet would offer a reduced fat LID.
by Windfall on 02/11/2019
Yessss, at last! My Jack Russell has been having some GI problems for quite some time, soft soft stools and/ or diarrhea and this food has completely solved the problem in no time at all. The kibble is quite hard though, not for the jaw of a miniature breed but my Jack Russell manages quite well.
by Nades01 on 09/29/2017
Bought this per vet's recommendation. The food bites were too large for our yorkie to chew.
by katiebug on 05/15/2017
I bought this a week ago and my dog absolutely loves it. He can barely wait before I put his bowl down to start eating!!!
by Lee89 on 04/22/2017
. MY VET CHECKED DIFFERENT LABELS AND DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS BEFORE SHE PUT BAILEY ON THIS. THANK GOD, SHE FOUND SOMETHING SHE COULD EAT, OR SHE WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY. BAILEY LOVES IT, AND IT ADDED YEARS TO HER LIFE. SHE CANNOT HAVE VERY MUCH PROTEIN. MOST DOG FOOD HAS A LOT IN IT.
by SUZY Q on 02/01/2017
Because of his sensitive stomach, he is only able to eat the Hills d/d Prescription Diet Skin and Food Sensitivities Potato and Salmon.... Thank goodness for this option.. We have tried many brands, types and home cooking to no avail....My pooch, Jack gets extremely sick if he eats anything else...we have also tried many different types of treats...none work.. Jack is now 10 years old. Thank you, Hills for making this formula!!!! Bless you...Thank you again, Carla E.

My Pitt, Lab, Boxer mix adores Hill's Science Diet D/D Venison and Potato! She actually gets excited for dinner every time! She has more energy, playfulness and stamina than ever! She is so shinny, and fit! And has more muscle definition than any dog in the neighborhood! I would highly recommend the D/D Venison and Potato to any dog!
by Coco Pallette on 08/08/2016
Our Vet recommended Hill's Prescription Diet for our Yorkie who has a sensitive stomach. He loves the food and seems to tolerate it well.
by CAFRENCHCOUNTRYGIRL on 07/12/2016
My boxer mix would break out in hives after eating regular Purina dog food. I've had other dogs on Purina with no problem. As soon as we started feeding the boxer mix d/d duck and potato---no more hives.

My German Shepherd loves the taste and the benefits of the diet! He is putting his weight back on and helping with his current medical conditions. Very happy!
by RadarsMommy on 12/17/2015
Our Lakeland Terrier loves her food. She is satisfied. Happy and bouncy. Our two male Lakeland terriers love to steal a taste of her kibble. Many thanks for a great trusted product.

My Cocker has ear infections, but after about 3 months of dd dry dog food, his ears have cleared up.
by lexman1 on 09/27/2015
My dog is on this food for life. Its too expensive.
by gstein on 09/23/2015
I have struggled with Zoey skin issues for years with the help of my vet. and d.d. she has done a turn around. She has improved greatly. She likes the food both canned and dry. My only problem is she is a Lab. and eats a lot so the long term feeding got expensive. I was giving her 4cans a day at first and when she started to improve I added dry. Now she only get 1can.and 4-5 cups of dry. I will continue to keep getting the dry and cut back on the wet. The only problems is that is very expensive to use at first, with the vet. bills and medication. I realize it is a good product and I am grateful for it ,but it was a struggle for 3months. Wish there was some kind of program that would help people and their dogs when they first start using it. I know more people would use it if they could afford it. But anyway I am real happy with the product. Thanks
by zobo on 09/21/2015
Very expensive but it has helped and my dog loves it.
by Cherylishappy on 09/03/2015
I have a 120 # German Shepard. I wish you would make this in a large bag.
by Gunner3 on 09/03/2015
This limited ingredient diet was a god-send. Prior to its use at the suggestion of my veterinarian, Isabelle would constantly lick at her paws and her hair was very thin. We saw great improvement after use of the product for 3 months.
by dalis09 on 05/19/2015
No small bites for small dogs. have to crush it up for my small weiner dog.
by vodoodan on 05/18/2015
Your product stopped my dog's itching which was driving her crazy. I am glad such a product is on the market. It does have a high price tag but is worth it if it helps my dog.
by Maggie2012 on 12/24/2014
Dog loves this food!! Hardly scratches anymore and he no longer stinks!! Too bad it doesn't come in a bigger bag for this flavor!!
by jen20073 on 12/01/2014
My vet recommended this for my morkie scratched a lot. It really helps my BELLA
by bella117 on 10/23/2014
A diet of only Hills Science Diet DD has really helped with the itching and shedding that my dog has experienced in the past. Just wish it was a little less costly!
by k192512 on 09/30/2014
Sooooo glad the vet recommended this food! Although expensive, don't hesitate because it works, dogs love it, quality cannot be matched. Go on-line for really good coupons.
by warthog94 on 09/22/2014
I have a 3 year old boston terrier. He has always had bad skin. I put him on D/D venison and potatoe. Not only does he love it but his skin is much better and his coat is so shiney. Hes a much happier boy..which makes me much happier!:)
by sk7stars on 09/19/2014
This product is very good and my dog likes the taste of it. I do wish it would come in smaller kibbles and be just a bit lower on the price. But my little baby needs this so I will pay anything so she feels better. Since being on this food we have been able to go for walks again without having to stop every couple of steps.
by mouse518 on 09/15/2014
My dog, Lucy, has skin and stomach problems. With the d/d science diet potatoe salmon, she is able to avoid medication and live a healthier life. Her digestive issues are under control and she has not had the itching issues in the late summer fall for over two years. She is a Husky, Border Collie, Shepard mix and is close to 12 years old. We are blessed to have her as healthy an engergetic as she is. Two to four mile hikes per day!!
by Patchman7 on 09/14/2014
This product has great features. It has helped the sensitive skin on my shiz tsu.
by punkin on 07/15/2014
Works great on my Labradors skin conditions from the florida heat and humidity
by Emme on 07/10/2014
Pet owner's may not realize this but skin conditions in dogs are often managed, not completely cured. That being said, d/d Potatoe and Salmon has been one of the greatest assets in managing my dog's itchy skin. I also find that I no longer need to have her on certain supplements because they are already in the food, which helps my dog's skin as well as saves me money. I have never had an issue with her not loving the taste. All in all it's a win win situation for both me and my dog.
by CC88 on 07/05/2014
My dog has food sensitivities and this food does not bother her
by dogmom1 on 07/02/2014
My scottish terrier, Molly, loves the potatoes and vension and she also gets a small amount of the canned dog food as a treat. I also love the money off coupons I get - quite a savings when you are on a fixed income. Louise
by Louise44 on 06/27/2014
My dog loves this food and begs to eat every two hours!
by Gerry70 on 05/24/2014
Old duke eats it every day and is beating the odds living well at 15 years of age . Great product . Thankyou Hills
by Klondike on 05/21/2014
Helped with skin problem but can't afford to keep feeding it so the problem will probably come back.
by bettyf on 05/14/2014
Our dogs like this however it's expensive. Our little dogs gobble it up. You really have to measure it out and limit them to recommended servings otherwise they will put on weight fast.
by frannsie on 05/09/2014
Lucy (11 year old female labradoodle)has been on this food for over 8 years and it has served her well. HOWEVER, your cost for this food is becoming prohibitive to those of us on a fixed income. Another $5 increase recently. I am forced to look elsewhere for a more affordable alternative. Your limited access to discount coupons is frustrating, and they barely cover 10% of the cost. You've got to do better if I am going to remain a customer. Been loyal of 8+ years. Thanks for listening.
by Joe211 on 05/02/2014
My dog has been able to eat well again and is starting to gain a little bit of weight.
by scarlet on 04/30/2014
My two dogs are usually picky eaters. But they ate every bite.it was fresh and they cleaned out their bowls
by furbabymama on 04/17/2014
After changing my pets foods to Hill's Prescription Diet D/D venison and potato, his skin irritation went away within 2 weeks. Not only did his skin improve but his coat is very soft and shiny with little to no maintenance. He also loves the taste of this food. My only complaint is the largest size bag you can get is 17lbs and the cost is astronomical. If my pet were any larger I would have to change food due to the price.
by Vonbamj on 03/30/2014
This food is smaller bite size so it's good for almost any size pet. My doggie finds it very tasty.
by Paisley on 03/15/2014
Limited ingredient diets were hard to shop for until I learned about Hill's DD duck and potato. My dog loves the taste. I love the quality nutrition, comparable price, and guarantee.
by sha30 on 03/12/2014
I believe this to be a good product however, it is very expensive. I understand, for the health of my dog, I am willing to pay it. I would like to see more product coupons or rebates available to help cut the cost.
by BKC50310 on 03/09/2014
Before I started Beasley on the Prescription Hill Salmon dog food she was always scratching herself with her paws and rubbing her skin up against the wall. Now she has found relief just by switching her dog food to your product.
by sonia51 on 02/28/2014
my dog really loves this dog food, it is expensive but when you have a dog that has sensitive skin it is worth it. Can not complain about this dog food. Would love more coupons.
by Sadie13 on 02/25/2014
Overall we are satisfied and will continue to buy it for her.
by Fonzie on 02/22/2014
Grateful for this product. My older dog is very sensitive to many foods so I am happy to find a product that works for her. She looks forward to feeding time and enjoys the taste. I feel I can trust this product since it was so highly recommended by my vet.
by GreatLakes11 on 02/20/2014
He was always having skin issues as well as a dry coat & bad gas. All has been improved very much. Less vet visits with him just stopping in for food. Love coupons & rebates.
by remington on 02/20/2014
My bichon doesn't itch very much if she only eats her d/p food. Thank heavens she is a small dog since it is so expensive. It used to be offered in a bigger bag & was a tiny bit cheaper that way but now I can only get a 17.9 lb bag. I'm glad it seems to help her.
by AngelaM on 01/05/2014
My German Shepard mystery mix 2 year old dog has had issues with her paws and ears. Our vet put her on the D/D food for 3 months to determine if it was her food causing the problems. It does seem to be helping her. However, my dog weights 70lbs and a bag only lasts 10-12 days which makes it very costly.
by Jadesmom on 01/04/2014
My GSD came to us with skin issues, so we were told to put her Prescription Diet d/d. We have given her the Venison and the Salmon and she has gulped down both. The only thing I wish is that I could get a bigger bag than the l7 lbs one, so that I didn't have to order it from my vet every two weeks.
by Xenasmom on 12/30/2013
I would recommend this product to anyone looking to feed a high quality pet food to their dogs. We have always fed our dachshunds both the dry and canned food. They love the taste of it, and it can be fed to either a small or large dog.
by Tammy53 on 12/23/2013
My dog was having pretty serious skin issues and his condition cleared up after giving him this food. And he loves the taste!
by ahb1 on 11/21/2013
After 2 years of itchy skin, infections, hot spots and bi-annual baths my little Pomeranian is itch free and her coat is the best it's ever been thanks to Hills d/d Salmon and Potato! We < 3 Hills :D
by Lisa216 on 11/19/2013
A trustworthy source to satisfy my pet's special needs.
by BonnieG on 10/21/2013
Our boxer continued to get red-patches and a rash until we switched his food. He loves the taste and the rash hasn't reappeared. His coat is shiny as well.
by Boxerlover on 10/05/2013
I am very happy with the way my dog is thriving on the d/d as well as the hypoallergenic treats which she loves. I just wish that the price would be lower & that I didn't have to go so far to the vet to get the prooducts.
by Lolo on 10/05/2013
The dog is more regular and stools are a bit firmer than with previous food. The bags needs a better closure. Some closures will not lock and some closures come loose from the bag.
by Bear2 on 09/12/2013
While pricey and having had a horrible time with the wet canned food, I feel much more confident with the dry food. It does however tend to constipate my dog and I have to add fiber to her food, when I was able to use Science diet we didn't have this problem.
by Colt2013 on 09/11/2013
When the food my cocker spaniel had been on for 10 years changed the formula, she became very ill. I tried some others to no avail until I found Prescription DD. Her skin and coat improved immediately, and she loves it.
by Elizabeth1976 on 08/26/2013
This product has eliminated my Cocker Spaniel's skin and droopy eye problems 100%

It reaaaally helped my dog to keep his hair on, i don't find hair everywhere anymore.

We have an 11 year old dachshund. He has been suffering with a horrible yeast infection. We took him to our regular vet who put him on antibiotics for 2 weeks. It didn't seem to make it any better and they did not offer any other solutions. We struggled for almost 3 months trying everything. Nothing worked. We decided to take him to a different vet. He did a very thorough examination and took some skin samples. He had the "elephant" looking back legs and he licked until spots were raw. The new vet said we were going to attack the problem verociously. He put my dog on 2 antibiotics and a low dosage of Prednisone. Also changed his diet to Hill's Prescription D/D canned food. We have been on this new regimen for 3 weeks now. What an amazing difference! Also found out he had a staff infection which we didn't know about. Our dog is also eating the dry food and we got the treats for him which he loves. The yeast infection is almost gone #no smelly dog anymore# and his coat is shiny and pretty again. I would recommend if your pet is having skin issues please check with your vet. We and our dog are much happier!
by Anita on 08/08/2013
Once we switched our pup Gordon over to the DD he seems to be less itchy. I don't see him nearly scratching as much as he did before using DD. He also gobbles the food down fast than the old brand. So either taste better or the smaller pieces are easier to chew. All in all a great product and highly recommended.
