always a good product

Can you please tell us why this prescription food has been out of stock for so long and when you plan to re-stock? elder dogs do not do well with changes in their food.

I used to love this food but I think they've changed the formula. It now comes out of the can mushy ... harder for the dog to eat and hard to get off the spoon. Can we have the old formula back, please?

Our dog has suffered from gastrointestinal sensitivities and diarrhea off and on for years and getting Hills Prescription Diet DD canned duck dog food several years ago from our vet was a total lifesaver! She absolutely loved it and thrived on it. Over the years we saw the quality and the formula evolve from a nice texture, color and rich duck aroma to a period of cans full of dark, stickier textured food with big air pockets, and now after contacting customer service about that, for the last 6 months we suddenly are buying cases with all cans with no air pockets anymore but now the color is much lighter, texture is very dry and dense and hard to get out of the can resembling stale mashed potatoes, which after water and duck is the third and fifth ingredient. Our concern is that Hill's is cutting corners now and adding less duck. Our dog chokes and coughs up this stiffer canned dd duck formula, even with added water and having to mash it more to get it to be closer to the original texture we loved. She eats two cases a week and I am praying that this review will catch corporate attention. After a year of huge air pockets in every can they managed to fix that issue but now it seems overcompensated on texture and formula. I will also be emailing them, but for now we cannot recommend it.

My dog has digestive problems. He is so much healthier since starting this diet! He has put on weight and his fur is soft and nice. He loves the taste too. I've tried other products, but he didn't like them.

This Hill's diet food was recommended to us by our vet due to our dog having severe food and skin allergies. We tried many different foods and combinations, and the d/d duck formula works best for us. Our dog will eat between 2.5 to 3 cans a day. This food is very expensive, but we can handle that cost. Our dog is family. What I don't like, and this has been mentioned before, is the fact that many cans have that huge air bubble inside. Some cans the bubble takes up at least a third of the contents. Our dog will not tolerate the dry food so we must feed him the wet can food. I do wish Hill's Science Diet would develop a better processing system to eliminate the air bubbles. I would say that at least half a case contains these bubbles. And we buy this food by the case load. Many cases. So I am looking for Hill's to help their customers by improving their quality control.

Our vet placed our dog on this food a year ago and for the first time in 8 years her stools are normal. 2 months ago the cans came with new pop top lids which I loved until I realized every can in the last three cases has giant holes of air instead of product. All of the older fashioned cans that you have to open mechanically NEVER had that issue. I would love to see your company go back to the factory floor and figure out how so much air is replacing product now. I feel cheated on cost and value, but our dog is very enthusiastic about the quality. Please help rectify this issue, I want to keep buying it. Thank you

Because my dog is a small breed, I mix the hills salmon and potato dried food with the salmon can food, and I keep in the refrigerator, but after few days it has a funny odor.....

At first my dog ate the canned food but within a couple of days she would eat around it and only eat her kibble. I'm trying a different flavor of d/d that she seems to like better. It's odd to me though that she is a fan of the kibble but not the canned food. Usually it is just the opposite.

Thanks to this food I have 2 healthy dogs! Both of my dogs have health issues and the vet suggestion this would be the best for them.

All flavors are enjoyed by my dog. I thought it was a losing battle trying to find a type of food my fussy dog would like and stop the itching and biting. After 9yrs of searching, new vet recommended Prescription Diet D/D. Molly loves it and we no longer have a skin or stomach ptoblem. She is more active and has wonderful shiny coat.

For the cost I thought it would be working by now. Vet said give it 6 months and it's been almost 5, still not really any change It would be nice if you could get coupons, ecspecially for people on a fixed income.

For years my hairless Chinese Crested suffered from dry, itchy skin. We tried many interventions to relieve him of this problem such as topical creams and prescription medications. One day my vet recommended we treat the problem from the inside out. That's when we learned about Hill's Prescription Diet d/d. Our dog's skin has been less dry and he doesn't scratch like before. He enjoys the taste as well. I highly recommend this product.

Scooter and Duke love Duck and Potato DD both wet and dry. Hills DD has kept both of our Chihuahuas healthy for many years. We can depend on the quality of Hill prescription diet foods.

We tried everything last summer to help with itching for my 2 yorkie/silky terrier mix. Not until we changed their food from chicken to salmon base and added d/d canine skin support salmon can food did they get relief. They love the taste and I even make baked treats from it.

Our vet initially prescribed Hills Science Diet zd food for our senior German Shepherd, who had developed severe skin and digestive problems. There was almost immediate relief for our dog, so we kept her on this diet for several weeks. After a while, she acted constantly hungry and begged to be fed hours ahead of time. Since we could not find a commercial brand that did not make her sick again, we switched to Hills Prescription Diet dd, and she's been absolutely great since. Her digestion is perfect, no skin problems, and she's satisfied. She likes the taste, so we can use small amounts of the canned food as treats, avoiding other treats that she can't tolerate. We're very happy with the dog food, although wish it was a little more affordable.

my puggies both had loose stools and after changing to d/d duck they begin to have more solid stools and less often after the switch to d/d duck.

My dog loves the duck and will only eat this brand and she is healthy and her skin is great

While grateful there is a prescription food option for my dog while she is sick, the food is already so expensive and I repetitively found the cans only 2/3 full of food with large empty craters inside. I have gone through 3 cases and it has been a consistent problem. I am finally able to have her on dry food and am using the DD dry food which I am happier with as I do not feel cheated.

I would recommend this dog food to anybody who has skin issues with their dog. Buddy use to break out and have red skin and ear infections often. Since he has been on this food his coat looks good and his ears are so much better!
