I found out my three year old Auzziedoodle had bladder crystals and would be on prescription dog food for life. The vet recommended Hill's Prescription Diet c/d. I had her tested just ten days later in a scheduled yearly check-up and she had no crystals present. Although all prescription dog food is expensive, I feel like I am getting the most effective dog food for her condition. She loves the taste and knowing that it will help keep her healthy is definitely worth the expense.

My dog had surgery for the removal of struvite bladder stones. Her vet prescribed this food to reduce the likelihood of future stones. I hope it's working because ever since we switched her breath has been horrible! She's a13 lb dog and I can now smell her breath from the other side of the couch - it's awful. She's also dealt with some gas. I appreciate the fact that there are two treats that work with this diet. It blows my mind that there is not a pill paste, long lasting chews, or dental treats/water additive!

I got this for my dog after he developed blood in his urine. Hes been eating it ever since.

I have an elderly miniature Boxer who was recently put on this diet by her vet. She's a picky eater abs I thought I was going to have to fight to get her to eat a new food. But she loves it! And I've noticed an improvement in her urinary habits when she's on the food. So it really does help. I know she's not going to be around much longer, but I'm going to do all I can to make her last years as comfortable as I can.

After last surgery for stones, out mini-schnauzer was prescribed this food to prevent further need of surgery. Within 6 months the stones had returned. Fortunately, the Hill's S/D diet succeeded in dissolving, but still disappointed this food failed to fulfill its purpose. Will continue to use under veterinarian recommendation, however.

My dog had bladder stones about five years ago. My vet put her on the wet CD for 12 weeks. It worked. She was going to need surgery if the food didn't help. She has been on the dry CD since and has had no recurrence of stones. Works great. She also enjoys the taste.

My shihtzu is now 11 years old. This CD, did not work in the beginning. But, with consistency and after 3 surgeries; My Coco is doing great. It did take a while for her system to gain a liking to this food. But, after stopping all dog treats and little snacks here and there. Coco's system began to adjust to this grain free product.

My yellow lab puppy came to me with a bladder infection with struvite stones. Because this isn't made for puppies, my vet tried antibiotics alone which didn't work. So, then we tried a different antibiotic and changed to this food for ONLY one week, then she went back on her puppy food for one week. Then back on this C/D for a week. The struvite stones and the infection were gone in the middle of that 3rd week. I can see why this food is prescription only, because especially for puppies, they need to be so closely monitored by the vet during this process since there is no growth factor in this food for puppies. They need to be switched back and forth between this and puppy food until the stones are gone. I highly recommend this food for urinary stones.

My chihuahua has been on c/d for just a couple of weeks since surgery for stones. He'll be on it for life, but Hills needs to make SMALL BITES! I'm tired of crushing and breaking it, the cost of it is enough that they should make it. I don't like feeding a lot of canned food to small dogs, because of their teeth

My dog Had bladders stones with one stuck in his urethra and went through surgery to remove them. Since then he has been fed CD only. He has been tested since and has no chrystals. I have a healthy 14 year old dog because of the CD diet.

This food has helped our dog so much. She had 4 stones in early 2018. She was put on this food because she had the type of stones that can be resolved by diet. She has not had any symptoms for over 6 months! We continue to feed her this food to prevent any future stones as our vet recommends.
by Itybity on 10/15/2018
CD seems to be working after second operation, However kibble is too large for some toy dogs ie Pekingese with limited teeth. Please consider a larger bag and smaller kibble.

My cavi-bichon was diagnosed with bladder stones 4 years ago - one of the stones was large as a grape! The vet was reluctant to do surgery because she was 10 at the time and suggested we try the s/d wet for 6 weeks first. Well, we went back at 6 weeks for an xray and the stones were gone! Mimi has been on the c/d dry and wet for maintenance ever since and the stones never came back. I mix the dry with a couple of spoonfuls of the wet food (chicken stew seems to be the favorite) and she loves it! It's expensive, but worth every penny. Great product.
by Linda G on 08/08/2018
Our yorkie has had calcium oxalate crystals in her urine. Our vet put her on this because she is allergic to chicken also. And also it keeps a normal balance in her her urine. She loves the food especially with warm water added to it. It has been almost five months now and no more problems and she is a happy playful dog again. Thanks Hills for helping my yorkie and also my past yorkie.

I have 3 small dogs - 2 girls and 1 boy. Three weeks ago Frankie underwent surgery for bladder stones. Then two weeks ago Jill underwent surgery for bladder stones. And Jack had a cloudy urine sample and appeared to have bladder stones but he did not have them. When the first diagnosis of bladder stones occurred my Vet immediately recommended Hill's C/D Multicare, so I got the large bag. The girls loved it from the start, although Jack was a bit reluctant to eat it. I decided to buy the C/D Multicare Chicken and Vegetable stew to feed to them with the dry. The canned was an immediate success when added to the dry! And they all started to clean their bowls. Jack doesn't like large pieces of kibble so I whirl his a few seconds in a small food processor and he is delighted with the slightly smaller kibble. I was concerned about having treats on hand as well and looked at the HIll's site and found recipes for homemade cookies and treats using the dry and canned varieties. I make the cookies with the dry kibble. It is an easy and quick recipe. My three give high paws for these and recommend you try them too. It will save you some money since you already have the food. Jack is a poodle mix who will be 7 in March; Jill is a terrier mix and is 5 1/2; Frankie is a poodle mix and is almost 5 1/2.

When we were told our little girl could only eat food for CD dogs our hearts sunk as we know our girl is fussy. When we bought our first bag of Science Diet CD about a month ago I put her food in a foraging ball and she really went to town on the food! What a big relief that was that she really likes it. For snacks she only likes 3 vegables and none of the fruits on list . We like to give her a little food from the table, but she can't have ours, so now we open a can of Science Diet CD chicken, vegegtable Stew and she loves that too. We bought her a bag of biscuits and she is very happy with those to! Thank you!

This prescription keeps my dog healthy. One time I mixed another dog food in with C & D and the results could be plainly seen. My dog was not as active as usual and her coat not as smooth, however, once back on this food exclusively she perked up and started acting as usual. My only concern is that it is pricey,
by Myrtlebaby on 10/03/2017
Just bought dry and canned. The drawback is the size of the dry. The need a small bite kibble for small mouths and older dogs with less teeth. Please make small bite kibble in reg c/d and lower calorie c/d for very small 4 lb and elderly small dogs. Thank you.. and please hurry.
by shernd on 09/02/2017
I have two older small dogs who have lived on Science Diet most of their lives Now one has developed a heart issue and we want to switch to the g/d as per the vets recommendation. My one major issue is the size of the dry food. They always ate the small bites in Science Diet and can't handle the larger bites.. Thus I am having much difficulty getting the dry to a size they can handle. Please make a smaller bite for all of the smaller guys. I am sure they are many out there sharing my problem. I will add I have been a Hills Science Diet consumer for over 40 years. Thank You

Just this week our lab Belle had surgery to remove stones. There were 19 stones. Our vet recommended the c/d. We were provided a coupon and purchased a bag. We are retired and the cost is a big issue for us. We are going to try to continue with the food. One suggestion is a coupon of a little greater value for the larger bags.

We've been feeding our dog the dry Prescription Diet c/d Multicare for several years. She has never been wild about the flavor. I wish there were other flavors so we could change up and give her some variety, but alas, there are none for this urinary prescription.

My 9 year old Welsh Cardigan Corgi recently required surgery for the removal of many bladder stones. Her vet recommended that we change her diet to Hill's Prescription Diet Urinary Care C/D Multi-Care kibble. After her surgery and a month on the new diet her poo now has changed from being pencil-thin back to being the normal size poo of her younger years. And the extra bonus is that she LOVES her new kibble! I am confident that her bladder stones can be managed with her new Hill's diet. Thank you thank you Hill's! Isn't she just too dang cute?

Last weekend I had to take him to the emergency vet where we believe he passed a kidney stone. He was also ultra sounded. He has bladders stone, stones in his urethra, as well as now kidney stones. Not only did the food not help he is actually worse than before.

My Chocolate Lab visits many people in her visits as a therapy dog. Her coat is very healthy and soft, and a pleasure for people to touch. Her health has been maintained throughout her 8 years due to her eating Hill's c/d, and nothing else. I even give her kibble as her treat. Although the price is higher than most, it has been worth the cost because she is so healthy.

Our dog Goldie was found to have had one very large bladder stone (about the size of an egg) and 12 or so smaller ones. After our vet removed all of them, she recommended this dog food. Goldie has been on it for over two years and hasn't developed any more stones. Very pleased with this product!!!

Our girl is a rescue Brittany. She was diagnosed with bladder crystals. Our wonderful vet, Dr. Amanda, prescribed CD. It worked. Some said a dog will not eat the prescription diet foods. Our girl eats twice a day and slicks up the bowl each time. Sometimes even barks close to mealtime wanting her meal.

I bought this for my dachshund Holly, who develops urinary crystals. I was afraid she would not like it, and it was important she had a food that would help this situation. Wow! She loves it, and all my other dogs want it too! So Holly has to eat sitting next to my husband so it is not stolen! Thank you Hill's for bailing us out yet again. You Rock!

I have a chiweenie named Ruthie who I took to the vet over a month ago for a UTI and was told that she had crystals in her urine as well. They started her on the Hills Prescription Diet C/D and said she would need to be on it the rest of her life. I am fine with that and will pay whatever I need to do to keep my baby healthy! Prior to the change, she was used to being on Hill's Science Diet Adult Light (which is a much smaller kibble) and LOVED it. When I changed her to the new prescription food, she ate it pretty good for a while but has now started to just pick at it. I don't think she loves the taste compared to her old food, and the kibble size is too large compared to what she is used to as well. Suggestions????
by jordanward on 06/07/2016
We have been on this dog food since the week it came out. It is very frustrating that it doesn't come in bigger bags to hopefully reduce the price a bit. Way too expensive. Also, while it works, our dog has the worse gas in the world and can clear a room out. It smells like rotten eggs.
by Jbro on 05/23/2016
Excellent. I use the Canine Kidney diet. My female Welsh Terrier has not had a urinary tract infection since we started using it. Prior to using it, she had infections about every 4-6 months.

My 3 year old lab had struvite stoness surgically removed last summer. I was told by a different vet that struvites are caused by a UTI and a prescription diet is not required. I took a urine sample into my vet a month ago and he said she had some crystals in her urine and to put her on the Hills CD. She likes the food but am skeptical about all the fat in it. She has put on 12 pounds and doesn't seem to have as much energy. I did have her on a grain free more protein food which gave her more energy.

I have 2 yorkie brothers one of them is on Hill's Science Diet he weighs 6.4 lbs. and my other yorkie is on Hill's Prescription Diet c/d he weighs 5.6 lbs. I have to keep my dogs separated when I put dry food out so that they don't eat each other's food. My little dog does not like eating the c/d food because it is too big for him to eat. Why hasn't Hill's made smaller bites for little dogs so that we can keep our dogs HAPPIER and HEALTHIER.
by Joni844 on 01/12/2016
My dog was diagnosed with uroliths on ultrasound in September. I started her right away on the canine c/d dry food she loves the taste and texture of the food. She had no problem switching over I even mix in some of the wet food also since the extra moisture is always recommended. In December I had a follow up ultrasound done and was very happy to see that all of the stone have been dissolved. I am very happy with her progress and the food I was very worried that she may have to undergo another surgery which is very risky at her age. Thank you

Our miniature poodle has a sensitive stomach and the prescription diet for digestive health works for him. He eats both the dry and wet food. Since he is a very fussy eater, we do add a little something on top to entice him. This is something we need to do no matter what dog food we buy.
by Linsyliz on 10/05/2015
One of my pugs has bladder stones and it was hard for her to control her bladder and she also had a very bad strong odor in her urine. Since she started the Hill's Urinary Care c/d Multicare dry diet she has been able to control her bladder and the urine does not have the strong bad odor any more. Thank you for this wonderful Hills prescription diet product!

This dog food works well for my pets and they enjoy eating it. In fact the dog who was not on it keep sneaking it. So switched them all over to this food as a preventative measure. The price however is very high for the amount of food that you get.

This food has done wonders for my girl. She was spayed too early (or before full development) from a rescue and now has permanent urinary issues. c/d has allowed her to have comfort and a great quality food at the same time. It has allowed us to treat her urinary issues without adding a medication into her daily routine.

While Hills prescription Science Diet Dog food gets great reviews, we feel that it is too expensive for us to afford to buy. We printed out coupons, but we reached our limit, so that option is out. We have researched Hills Science Diet Adult food for sensitive stomach and skin, and have decided to feed our dog this food. It is affordable, and seems to have been tested in the lab for six months also. Our 16 month old english bulldog has a sensitive stomach and skin problem, but we are hoping that this transition of dog food will be ok with him.

The c/d dry dog food is overall a great option for dogs who require a prescription diet. The price point is high, but worth the cost when the alternative is expensive surgery for bladder/kidney stones. My dog appears to enjoy the taste of the dry dog food, especially when mixed with a little of the wet c/d food. The wet food is great on its own too! I have three other dogs, all of which are eating Hill's Science diet food, and all are doing great! Thank you for providing a quality product!
by GoGoGellert on 09/11/2015
This dog food is great for my sensitive stomach dog. It doesn't upset her stomach and she likes the taste. BUT - the price is so outrageous. Even with the occasional $5.00 off coupon (which used to be a $7.00 off coupon) it is still very costly and you can only get it from your vet. I think I might have to try some other sensitive stomach foods. Some are less than 1/2 the price.
by taffy01 on 09/08/2015
While it costs more than other food, it works for my dog. I like that there is a wet food option and that I can give her different things. There are some treats that also work for this diet available from hills, so look for that too! Look for the coupons, they help with the cost!
by Hannahsmom on 08/17/2015
It has helped with my dog's bladder issues, but I'm extremely disappointed that there isn't a corn/grain free option. Why have pointless fillers in a prescription diet food? Shouldn't it be as healthy as possible? Dogs weren't meant to eat corn.

My maltese loves the wet food and it's seemed to help her, but I don't like to only feed her wet food as it's bad for the teeth. However, the only dry food offered in the C/D formula is too large for her to chew. I wish Hills would come out with a kibble for small breed dogs.
by BellaBeltz on 05/20/2015
It is scary getting a diagnosis that requires your pet to be on a prescription food. Besides the diagnosis, you don't know how well they will adjust to a new food, if they will eat it or turn their nose up. Especially when this food is important to their health. I have to say, my dog Marvin, absolutely loves this food! He looks forward to feeding time daily. Since being on this food, his condition has improved greatly!!!

Only a week post ACL surgery, we discovered our JJ had Struvite stones and a raging bladder infection. Our vet put her on S/D formula hoping to avoid the cost of surgery. Even he was amazed at the fast (2 month) resolution of the stones! After spending so much on repairing her leg, I'll gladly pay for prescription food if it will save on future vet bills. We are now feeding C/D dry in the mornings and canned C/D at night in the recommended amounts and she LOVES it! Absolutely no problem getting her to eat (she wasn't a great fan of the S/D canned). My only concern is her rapid weight gain. In only 2 weeks on the C/D she has gained almost 2 lbs which is about a 6% weight gain. Since she is still not 100% with her leg, I'm sure it's partly due to less activity. The vet said there was a lower calorie formula for her and I'm headed there this week to purchase it. Thank you again for your wonderful products!

I've been struggling for years to keep my border collie/lab's pH acidic enough to prevent Struvite crystals and stones. Within 2 weeks of switching to the Hills c/d, her urine pH was right where it needs to be. The only con is it might be too expensive for me to continue feeding her. Hoping to find coupons or other promotions. I highly recommend this product.

My dog suffers from intolerance of to much protene. I aggravated this by feeding high protene table scrapes. This was completely my fault, and caused cristales in his urinary track. He has been on c/d kibble for the last six months and his health has improved 100%. I would recommend this product in a heartbeat.

My border collie was diagnosed with bladder issues and it was suggested she go on the prescription diet for urinary problems. I was not sure she would eat it but to my surprise she gobbles it. I add a little of the wet UT food with it and she never leaves a bite in the bowl. This is far different from the experience previously with other foods. I just wish it was a little cheaper as i buy the small bags and have had to cut way back on her portions to be able to afford the food.

I have a one year old golden retriever who had some Urinary Infections since she was 8 weeks old, for four months we battled infections and went to three different vets. The last vet we went to recommended to us the Hill's Prescription C/D formula to lower her pH levels down. It worked!! Within a couple weeks her pH levels were dropping and within a month her infections were completely gone!! I don't know where we'd be as far as her infections if it hadn't been for the C/D formula! I'd recommend it to anybody (of course with veterinarian approval first) who may be experiencing the same issues. My golden has been infection free for 8 months due to this amazing dog food! Prices are a little high for the 33 pound bag, BUT I'd pay that price any day if that means my golden can be healthy and happy! Thank you Hill's for making prescription diets and especially one formulated for urinary tract health!! My family and My Golden Retriever appreciate it!!

I suppose it's just a human thing, but I wish this came in more flavors so I could give my dog a change from time to time. She probably doesn't care. She's had no more problems since switching to this diet and she seems to like the food just fine.
by MusicGary on 09/18/2014
I give a mixture to my 9 and 1/2 year old lab. I hope his brother never needs it. The cost is quite high. I feel sorry for those who cannot afford to buy these products for their sick pets. I would love to see coupons given on the wet and dry foods. Many years ago the wet food came In 24 can cases - for the same price as 12 today.

Unfortunately my baby girl has 2 b on this the rest of her life. The "good news" even thou it's a little expensive,it beats letting her eat other food n having 2 take her 2 the vet once a month because she don't feel well because of getting crystles.Since she has been on it.she feels much better (cause she has no crystals). So I'd rather spend the money on the dog food than @ the vet and keep her healthy. She likes it even with out the can food, but I do buy that & mix a little in on occasion..She loves it !! & I buy the perscription treats, which she loves also.Glad there is a product out there 4 her. Thanks Science Diet

This food has prevented my dog from getting uti's most of the time. But the price is so outrageous and the price has gone up 3 times in the past two years of our dog being on it. Our dog must have it and Hills knows owners don't have any other option.
by cmar on 08/23/2014
Hill CD dry food has help my dog with diet and urinary problems. It seems to help mataine both, and she enjoys eating this food.
by vsfd on 08/23/2014
Use both the wet and dry food and my dog especially loves the wet.
by Sugarboo on 08/16/2014
Our lil girl loves the taste of the food. We are hoping that this will help her as the Vet suggests. Am using the coupons that are online for a discount on the purchase price. A tip from Vet on my receipt from the purchase from them. There was no problem on the transition on this food from her previous dry kibble.

The last time I reviewed this product,it was really too soon to tell how good it is for my 10 year old Shih-tzu because it had only been 1 month on it after her surgery. But now, after her 4 month check up...She's gotten a Super clean bill of health:) I know this food is helping her greatly! I had my doubt's I must say,but not any more. I would greatly recommend this food for any one who want's to keep their pet's bladder in check! Sassy will be on this food for the rest of her life,it's a bit costly, but she is most certainly worth it:)

by Nmac22 on 07/18/2014
Harry was diagnosed with crystals in his urinary tract. The vet put him on c/d. He is fine now and it has been months and no more crystals. Harry is a picky eater all the time - I give him a bowl of the dry food with a small spoonful of the canned c/d. He eats the canned part and then picks at the kibble over the course of the day. This is how he always eats - no reflection on the food. But this prescription food seems to be keeping him healthy and for that I am grateful.
by Tina500 on 07/15/2014
Our dog had numerous bladder infections and developed a soft stone in her bladder. We used the wet s/d to get rid of it he stone (worked like a charm!) and have been using c/d to keep it from coming back. Her urinary tract is very healthy since using the Prescription Diet food - no infections or stones!

I wasn't a prescription dog food customer before but after using the C/D my dog hasn't had any urinary issues and she really likes it.I save money at the Vet's office and I don't throw away dog food so we all win. I can't take my dog anywhere without people complimenting me on how beautiful she is. Thank you for your work on an excellent product I can trust my dog's health to. Alan Pierce

Our 12 year old Bichon was diagnosed with possible urinary problems last year. Thanks to our wonderful vet we switched our dog's diet to Prescription Diet c/d food. He eats the dry and wet food. AND loves it! He is definitely feeling better and his tests prove it. He will stay on his new diet indefinitely! Thank you, Hills!

I wish the product was more affordable or there were coupons available more often since go through a 35 pound bag once a month. Luckily she eats it without much of a problem so must like the taste allright. Thanks for having something available for her health issues.
by aggie6 on 06/02/2014
Our Bernese Mountain Dog, Sadie was diagnosed with bladder stones following a urinary tract infection. In an attempt to avoid having them surgically removed, we put her on a diet of wet s/d for six weeks (somewhat skeptically, I might add) . With great relief, the stones were dissolved. She is now on c/d and is doing very well; good energy, beautiful coat, and great overall health. Couldn't be more relieved at not needing an operation.
by jvincent on 05/27/2014
This is a great product!! My dogs love it! We haven't had any urinary tract issues, since they started this food.
by Tammy23 on 05/12/2014

My CoCo is a rescue baby. She was abused in the first year of her life. I got her right after she turned two. She started having UT problems, my vet strongly recommended Hill's C/D for her. She loves it!!! The C/D has helped keep her healthy and happy for years now. Thanks Hill's.

Maggie, our Cocker Spaniel, was diagnosed with a previously undetected 1/2 lb bladder stone. It was found because she had bloodly urine while being groomed. If it hadn't been found she would have died within a few days from kidney failure. She showed no symptoms, no signs of pain, and our now previous vet missed it during her exams - how I don't know. Maggie has been placed on the C/D prescription diet. She loves the food, eats it well and we have peace of mind knowing she is less likely to be growing bladder stones. She is a happy, vigorous girl ready to go when we do. Thank you for that. I have a few issues not related to the food itself but surrounding the purchasing. The price is high and is a stretch for those of us on a fixed income. In my area it is only available at the big box stores, i.e., Petsmart. Because it is a prescription food I have to obtain a prescription from my vet. Sometimes this is inconvenient vet visits/food purchases. I still don't understand why it requires a prescription. My last issue is the lack of treats which go with this diet food - C/D. Maggie likes treats and deserves them. I don't know if one of the other prescription treats can be substituted and I haven't found satisfactory answers from your call center. Please make some treats for her and all the others like her.

My Shih Tsu, Mardy, has had bladder stones twice and required two sugeries. Hills cd canine was recommended by my veterinarian to prevent recurrence of stones. We have had no further episodes of urinary distress. Mardy has been on Hills for 6 months. She has energy and seems to feel well.

Maggie has had two bladder surgeries to remove stones. Her first surgery the vet did not recommend this dog food to prevent her from getting these stones again so one year later, she developed stones again. This time a different vet performed the operation and recommended this dog food for Maggie. I am happy to say and Maggie is too that after a year of having surgery she is stone free and a very happy customer!!

When we rescued our Stella from a shelter, we guesses she was about 12 weeks old. It was a Thursday and she was scheduled to be euthanized the next day! Not on my watch! We brought her home and she had worms and was not in great shape. After her health returned and she was about two years old we noticed a problem and rushed her to the vet. Our dog was full if the struvite crystals and had to have emergency surgery. From that day forward - she has eaten nothing but HILL'S canine CD for Urinary Tract health and we just celebrated her 13th birthday on March 17, 2014! Thank you, Hill's! We love her more every "extra" day!

My neighbor's German Shepherd Jill was adopted from a local animal shelter about 2 years ago. Jill developed urinary tract problems and the vet prescribed Hills Prescription C/D. As long as she has been on the Hill's diet she has had little or no urinary tract problems.
by spotadog on 03/07/2014
I feed CoCo, my sweet baby rescue dog the c/d prescription diet. It helps keep her healthy and happy. She 6 now, but still plays like a puppy. She loves the C/D and scarfs it down as soon as I feed her. I love that she's so healthy now!!
by Brandiwine69 on 03/06/2014
Previously, my pet was on tablets to acidify her urine. This was to keep her from having additional urinary problems. It became more difficult to obtain the tablets and the price was going to increase. I started her on c/d and don't need the tablets anymore. She enjoys the food and I don't have to worry about her having those urine problems anymore.
by Ginkgolady on 02/27/2014
Our dog cannot eat regular dog food without getting an urinary tract infection. We've been using Hills Science Diet for over a year now, works perfect not one trip to the vet.

I adopted a rescue dog that acted like it hurt to go potty. Took her to the vet & discovered she had crystals in her urine, that would eventually turn into bladder stones (if untreated). He put her on Prescription Science Diet C/D for urinary health. What a difference with in one week of being on it! 2 years later she is still doing well on this food , no more crystals / pain.

This product really worked for our dog - however, it is very expensive even though he no longer suffers from the ailment we have been told that he will need to be on this special food for life in order to keep the ailment from returning. Since we care for our dog and he is a big part of our lives we really want to ensure his continued health and will work to buy the food even if it is somewhat of a hardship for us. I have included a photo of Buster Brown for you to see - a healthy dog thanks to Hills Science Diet! Thank you.
by kittykitty on 01/31/2014
I can't really attest to product quality. I feel guilty feeding the same flavor food to her every day, but she eats it just fine. Lab tests indicate she is healthier for it.
by grampy3 on 01/29/2014
I had my dog on z/d when she was about 3 for a couple years switching to C/D it in my belief has kept her having a clean system...literally. But she is now almost 16 and has been very healthy and i attribute it to her prescription diet. Sometimes it was hard cause of the cost but never took her off. I totally thinkeveryone should use it. Thank you.
by susiesbestgirl on 01/24/2014
Our lab had over a hundred bladder stones we have had her on this since 7/13, she likes it and her coat looks great.
by dgwyn on 01/20/2014
I liked you could serve it dry or I put a little warm water in it and stirred it around making a gravy and my dog liked it better that way.
by Joyce01 on 01/13/2014
I am relieved to see so many good reviews for Hills c/d for my dog. He had surgery today to remove bladder stones. And the vet recommended this food forever. Now I am just hoping he will like the taste and eat it... He is very picky eater. I bought a can of the wet to mix with the dry hoping that will help. He is to tired from his day to eat tonight so tomorrow will be the big test... Some other review sites I was on were pretty scarry
by Bullhead on 01/10/2014
My Dog is a finicky eater... she chooses the most expensive food items to eat and I have tried many. In her need we initiated this dog food and come to find out it was the only food she goes directly to and completely eats all at once. She does not back up after smelling it!
by Pottypot on 01/07/2014
This product has kept my dog from having to have another bladder surgery to remove bladder stones. She was having to have surgery two years in a row to remove bladder stones the size of a quarter. She has been on the Hill's CD for Urinary and is now 18 months and no signs of stones!!!!
by elliemay on 01/01/2014
I consider the product to be excellent but gave only good ratings because of the kibble size. I think the product should be offered in a smaller kibble size. My dog is small. He will first bite the bit to break it into pieces, drop them on the floor and then eat the smaller pieces. He does chew the bits, he is not a gulper.
by rich53 on 12/30/2013
Our dog wont eat the dry food alone. We have to mix it with the canned. There is no variety, we have a small dog and the dry food is very large pieces which are hard for him to eat. There should be a small dog version of this product
by Rosie1dg on 12/24/2013
The overall marketing of this product is very eye appealing. The dogs we have on it seem to like the taste of this product
by Dixie on 12/19/2013
My two Yorkies always had problems with getting urinary tract infections, since starting this food neither one of them have had another one. Great product!
by Julie1232 on 12/19/2013
My dog loves the taste of this prescription diet. We tried other brands and he refused to eat. He also has better formed stools than he has ever had and no more crystals in his urine.
by Beth79 on 12/19/2013
The product has definitely improved our dog's health but the price is a little overwhelming when feeding a large lab. Tried to use coupons at our vet but he didn't know anything about the program and refused them. Wish you could buy the food at a store versus the vet's office.
by Rhon on 12/08/2013
My dog is on this diet to reduce the formation of badder stones. Its made mostly out of plants like corn.. which I've heard is bad but given that its a prescription we have to follow only time will tell. she loves the taste.. can't wait to eat it every day so that is good. Ask me in a year
by marg2012 on 12/04/2013
My 13 year old dog has crystals in his urine. When he is on the C/D, he is symptom free. If I run out, in just a matter of days, you can tell the difference... I make sure I do not run out!

My dog was having some urinary issues. I tried other dogs foods but the issue kept coming back. Once I started using CD prescription dog food, the urinary issues with my dog stopped. She is healthy and loves to eat the CD dog food. It really works. I'd recommend it to anyone who maybe be having these kind of issues..

My dog was diagnosed with sturvite bladder stones when she was 4 years old. Over 700 stones were removed from her bladder. The C/d prescription diet allowed her to have a quality life for over a decade. If not for the special food, she would have been plagued with bladder infections and an early death. She lived to the ripe old age of 15 years! Thanks

I adopted a mixed breed from a shelter. She had a lot urinary problems, finally showing blood in her urine. I took her to the vet. that day we later found out she had 5 large kidney stones, which had be removed. The shelter did pay for the surgery, but I now must continue with the c/d dry dog food for the rest of her life. It is quite pricey but she just loves her science diet dog food. I would have not adopted Misty if I had known that she had the stones and the possibility of developing more in the future. But my husband and I just love Misty so much. I am now feeding a horse and a dog with special needs which gets expensive. I just wish that the c/d was not so expensive, and that I didn't have worry about another episode. Help.
by Misty on 11/21/2013
One of our dogs was diagnosed with bladder stones by our vet. After putting her on s/d canned food to dissolve them (it worked great as an alternative to surgery) he put her on c/d. We prefer the dry dog food. So far there has been no recurrence. We feed c/d to both of our dogs now and they really enjoy it. Thanks....we also recommend the c/d compliant treats as well.

My English Bulldog has recently had surgery to remove some kidney stones. I have had her on high end food since she was a pup and after surgery the Vet suggested that we transition her to C/D. At first I was skeptical about this food (especially since she is so picky) but she ended up loving it! Since she liked the dry C/D food so much, i have recently taken some of the canned C/D and made little meat balls as treats! Great food and great product! I highly recommend it. -Mark

My 8 yr old female mini dachshund was having very inapporpriate accidents in the house, her UA showed very high ph (9) and the formation of Sturvite crystals. At her two week check after switching to CD she still had a high ph, but the crystals were gone, and the accidents had stopped. I don't mind buying it for one dog, an 8 lb bag lasts her 6 weeks and then some. Would like to find more treats compatible with the CD, even fruits and veggies to add to it.
by MichelleB1 on 09/26/2013
My dog loves it since she was 2 years old and never had any problem with this product.
by Reviewer on 09/23/2013
My dog is prone to urinary tract infections and bladder stones. Since I started feeding her C/D prescription food (dry and canned), she has not had an infection. Although it is expensive to buy, I feel it does help her. More coupons should be available for the food and the treats for dogs like mine.
by Dogs2 on 09/20/2013
this product has help with his medical issues. We have been on this food for 12 years. Sad to say the price is getting to be a problem. Like so many items we are use to buying our income does not go as far as it did in the past. Our goal is to keep this old boy as healthy as we can.
by Doxie on 09/18/2013
An excellent product which my dog is absolutely thriving on. We have seen a big change in her. I also like how the quality is such that there arent crumbs and powder in the bottom of the bag. The only problem is that in NZ we only have the small packs so it isn't very cost effective for us for a larger dog - but for the benefits it's worth it!
by Erinn on 09/12/2013
Josie, our Yellow Lab, had some issues with bladder infections. The veterinarian recommended Hills Prescription Diet CD as a way to prevent further occurrences. Josie has been on Prescription Diet for over a year and has remained infection free!

My pug was having urinary problems and was forming crystals in her urine, which could have led to stones. Thank goodness that didn't happen. So far,the c/d food has helped balance her ph in order to prevent the crystal formation. So I am very happy with it. She mainly eats the dry, but I also mix a little of the canned in with it along with a little water.
by maryf on 09/06/2013
The product works well and has eliminated the formation of bladder stones in my dog for the last few years. My dog was started on this food after she had surgery to remove two stones. Seems to like the taste. Can be expensive but better than constant trips to the vet.
by DB09 on 09/03/2013
This was prescribed by veterinarian so this is the only food we used since that time. Pet does eat food well. Very expensive and was disappointed that only a set number of coupons were allowed to be printed from the website. I print a coupon each time I need to purchase and the last time, it indicated that I had reached the limit (3-4...not sure). Feel that if this is the only outlet for this prescribed food, more should be done to allow customers to afford such highly priced nutrition. I definitely believe that if customers are continuing to purchase your food, then you should NOT restrict or limit the coupon availability.

This food helps prevent crystals from forming in our dog's urine and helps prevent painful UTI's as well as trips to the vet. Maxine enjoys the food, and so she usually eats as soon as we put her bowl down.
by Lorig on 07/08/2013
We adopted Moyia even though we were told he was not likely a good choice for adoption due to the abuse he suffered from his prior owners. He was only 6 months old and was in desperate need of a good home and good care. We had him for 2 years when he started suffering poor health. Our veterinarian said Moyia had developed crystals and was in great discomfort. Due to the great care from our Dr. and the science diet cd food he put Moyia on, we can say after 9 years of this dog food and the love we have for our pet we can say he beat all odds and is doing wonderful. He now has hip dysplasia but has never once shown any aggressive behavior towards anyone and is a big part of our family. Thank you for this food and just as added note, thank you for supporting so many other animals through your donations to various shelters.

My dog was diagnosed with bladder stones and has been on this diet for 2 years. She has not had a recurrence. She likes the taste. My other dog even tries to eat it if I am not looking.
by LMLL on 07/01/2013
My dog had many problems with UTI's before this food. While on this food we only occasionally have problems...once a year or less! The food is costly, but much less than frequent urinalysis and rounds of antibiotics...not to mention it has to be better for him than all of that too!
by Chaco2981 on 07/01/2013
Through the years of my pet ownership, this is now my third dog I had to put on the CD dog food diet. It enabled my first two that were on it to live long lives, and they did well on it. I started them both off on the wet/canned CD to first dissolve their stones. It is quite expensive, wish they'd have mercy and lower their prices. At least it is effective!

All I want to do is say Thank you for your product ! My day had started off very scary, when one of my much loved Pugs got very sick !! Long story short and many hours later, our family Vet let us know that Stud Lee had to go on a life changing diet. Boy was I worried, for how was I going to get him to eat something new and not be able to dress it up with momma's yummy gravy or other goodies, hahaha !! But life was good to all of us that day ! For when we got home and I gave him a cup of his new food, c/d Canine, Urinary Tract Health, he ate it . And he has been eating it ever since, along with the wet version, for when I want to change it up for him. I have now put our other dog on your food as well. They always do a dance for me when they hear the can opener going, for they know whats coming and they never did that before !! Thank you so much. I never would have thought they could love dog food so much !!
