In the late 1950s in Devonshire, England, a Miss Cox found a strange looking, curly-haired kitty. Unaware of what she had just stumbled upon, she named him Kirlee, and took him home. Little did she know she had taken in what is now widely regarded as the godfather of the entire Devon Rex breed -- the Adam of all Devon Rex-dome! Now, thanks to careful cultivation of little Kirleeโs trademark look, the Devon Rex has become one of the most popular breeds around.

The Devon Rex is one of the most playful, fun-loving, people friendly cats around. Uncharacteristic of cats, the Devon Rex is always down for a game of fetch or chase. Wonderful companions, this breed loves to โtalkโ to their owners with little chirps. Smart cats as well, they're known for being a bit of a prankster, and oftentimes, a bit of a food thief, so guard your supper!.
Devon Rexes can be seen in black, white, blue, red, cream, chocolate, and more, and in various patterns like smoke, tabby, tortie, and bi-colour among others.
The only major health concern that sometimes turns up in the Devon Rex cat is:
These strange looking cats seem like they might have just crawled up out a hole in the earth or a spaceship. They have wide heads, big eyes, and even bigger ears. Their wavy coat is unusual on its own, but in conjunction with their alien appearance, these cats look downright weird, but in a good way. Possibly the strangest characteristic of these cats is how surprisingly athletic they are, having a deceptively muscular build and a sturdy frame.
