Watch This Disabled Dog Run For The First Time

Daisyโ€™s life has been a toil. Born with a congenital deformity, her front two legs have always been underdeveloped, making it difficult for her to get around. In order to perform simple tasks like walk across the room, she would have to hop or scoot her way across the floor. When she was picked up as a stray, Daisy was immediately scheduled to be euthanizedย becauseย the shelter was certain that she would otherwise end up languishing in a cage for years before someone took her home. However, they couldnโ€™t have been more wrong. Mere hours before Daisy was scheduled to be euthanized, her guardian angels swooped in and saved her from an early demise. And while Daisy had become quite adept and getting around on just her hind legs, her new family took it upon themselves to improve her quality of life by fitting her with a wheelchair. But that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Her family soon realized that, while the wheelchair did make it easier for Daisy to get around, it was still leagues behind actual walking. Not only that, but the way the wheelchair forced her body to contort was putting excess strain on her spine. So in an attempt to help Daisy get around on all fours, just like the millions of other dogs on Earth, they opted for a different approach - prosthesis.

As you can see in the video, Daisyโ€™s new legs look vastly different than your typical front paws. They are curved backward, giving the legs a small amount of spring, as well as an elongated point of contact with the ground, making it easier for her to bound across the house without fear of losing her footing.

About Prosthesis

Whatโ€™s more, as is made clear in the video, Daisy is now getting to experience the kind of mobility nature intended for dogs, and she could not be more happy about it.daisy-3Daisyโ€™s story can teach us many things :
