Emotional Craigslist Post Rallies Support for an Abused Pit Bull

Thanks to a moving Craigslist post that went viral, an injured and abused Pit Bull is getting a second chance at life.Mama Jade, as she has come to be known, was found earlier this month after wandering onto a strangerโ€™s porch in north Nashville, TN. It is unclear how the battered Pit Bull escaped her torturer, but she certainly stumbled upon the right house.Mamaโ€™s rescuer, Christianna Willis, 23, is not only a pet parent, but also happens to work at an animal hospital. As soon as Christianna saw Mama, she knew she was in bad shape.

 From the Craigslist post:

Signs of the abuse she had somehow escaped, riddled her body. The fresh bite marks on her muzzle, the scars that covered her body, the exposed pink and purple flesh around her neck, where she was obviously tied up with ropes that cut their way into her skin, over and over again. The obvious signs that she had been bred, relentlessly, time after time. The pressure wounds on her elbows that bled whenever they touched anything, from being tied and forced to lay on cement ground and metal cage mesh.

It wasn't until the following day when Christianna took the dog to

PetMed Veterinary Hospital

ย that she and the rest of the staff discovered the devastating extent of Mamaโ€™s medical issues. Along with the injuries she sustained as a bait and breeding dog, exams revealed that poor Mama also had

breast cancer.Due to the steep cost of cancer treatment

ย and the overwhelming amount of suffering that Mama had already endured, it was decided that she would be put to sleep.Devastated that this sweet loving dog would have to be put down, Christianna begged the staff to wait just one more night.Then, something incredible happened. A lividย Christiannaย wrote an emotional post on Craigstlist, which stated confidentially, โ€œYour pitbull found me and Iโ€™m not giving her back.โ€From the Craigslist post:

Somehow, God must have led this mama to my doorstep, knowing she'd find comfort here.Over the last 3 days, our staff has grown to love this beautiful and broken soul. Skin and bones, we feed her constantly but only foods that are soft enough for her... You know, since you ripped her teeth out and all.We're all amazed at how trusting of humans she is. Dogs however, completely terrify her. It doesn't matter the size, she growls in fear and tucks her tail between her legs. But who can blame her? After what you did to her?Tomorrow, Mama will finally feel peace. And when she closes her eyes and takes her last breath, I'll be there. I'll hold her big ol head and I'll tell her how much I love her.And when her soul has left her battered body and I've dried the tears enough to see, I will document every bruise, every bite, every cut, scrape and gash. I'll photograph her teeth, or rather, where her teeth used to be. I'll turn in all the evidence and post it where EVERYONE will see it. I'll use it to educate kids in heavily crime ridden areas, on the horrors of dog fighting.

As it turned out, Mama's story would not end the following day. Due to an onslaught of support from people across the nation, enough donations were made to pay for Mamaโ€™s treatment, and the pup was able to receive the life saving care she needed.Mama is not out of the woods, but she is surrounded by people who love and care for her deeply.
