It's been a little over 2 months since we reported on

Mama Jade

, an abused

who wandered onto a young woman's porch, and found not only a new home, but a new family.

Mama's rescuer Christianna Willis, 23, was working at an animal hospital in Nashville at the time and brought her in to consult the vets on the dog's medical condition. Just by looking at Mama, Christianna knew she was in bad shape.

From the Craigslist post:

Signs of the abuse she had somehow escaped, riddled her body. The fresh bite marks on her muzzle, the scars that covered her body, the exposed pink and purple flesh around her neck, where she was obviously tied up with ropes that cut their way into her skin, over and over again. The obvious signs that she had been bred, relentlessly, time after time. The pressure wounds on her elbows that bled whenever they touched anything, from being tied and forced to lay on cement ground and metal cage mesh.

It was clear that Mama's injuries were serious, but they had no idea of the extent of her medical issues until tests revealed that Mama had breast cancer.It was decided that Mama would be put down. In her anger, Christianna wrote an emotional Craigslist post which detailed Mama Jade's horrific experience.

A Miraculous Turn

The post solicited a flood of support from people across the nation, and enough donations were made to pay for Mama's treatment. Since that day, Mama has been getting excellent care from the folks at PetMed Animal Hospital in Antioch, TN. She received two life-saving surgeries, and is being treated for

heartworm disease. We are happy to report that in the beginning of December, Mama moved to her new foster home and is getting the utmost love and attention.
