HISTORY
One of Americas favorite breeds, the Labrador Retriever is believed to have originated in Newfoundland to help fishermen retrieve fish that came in on the lines, as well as help reel in the nets. They first arrived in England in the 19th century. Ships from Labrador came over with their favorite dog on board. The Lab was then crossed with various setters, spaniels, and other types of retrievers to help hone their instincts. From there, they rapidly grew in popularity because of their high trainability and their innate kindness.
