HISTORY
The bloodline of the Australian Silky Terrier can be traced to the Australian Terrier and the Yorkshire Terrier. This dog breed was developed in the 19th century in an attempt to improve the blue and tan coat color of the Australian Terrier. To achieve this, they were bred with Yorkies. This breed of dog was introduced to America by the American soldiers stationed in Australia during World War II. Untill 1955, the Australian Silky Terriers were known as the Sydney Silky Terriers.
