HISTORY
While there are certain speculations, the actual origin of the Balinese is shrouded in mystery. Some say the Balinese is a Siamese-Angora cross, others say Siamese-Persian, and even other fringe theorists believe that there was a mutation within the genetic makeup of a certain group of Siamese, leading to their long coat. First seen in the early 20th Century, the Balinese was registered with the CFF in 1928.

The average lifespan of the breed is 10 14 years. The contemporary breed is more prone to health problems than the traditional ones.
Appearance
Essentially a long haired Siamese, the Balinese have a tight, slim, athletic build. Their fur is silky, soft, and long, but does not demand the same level of care that other long haired breeds do. Their most notable feature is probably their almond shaped eyes, which are deep pools of blue. This medium sized cat can weigh up to 9 pounds.
