Everybody loves cookies but your canine friends will love them even more. With these delicious and nutritious cookie recipes, your canine will get the best of both worlds!

1. Bachelor Dog Treats by Sherry Yard

Ingredients:

• Eggs – 4 (2 for wash, 2 for dough)
• Vegetable oil – 1 oz
• Honey – 1 tbsp
• Chicken stock – 8 oz
• Whole wheat flour – 10 oz
• All purpose flour – 5 oz
• Cornmeal – 3 oz
• Peanut butter – 1 cup

Directions:

• The oven should be preheated to 325°F. Whisk two eggs, honey, and vegetable oil in a large bowl. Add chicken stock to the mix and whisk it.
• Add whole wheat flour, corn meal, and all-purpose flour to a stand mixer and blend the ingredients on medium speed while slowly adding chicken stock mixture. Add peanut butter to it and continue to mix for a minute till the dough comes together.
• Split the dough in half. Start to roll the dough into a ball that is at least ½ inch thick. Cut into shapes of your choice using small cookie cutters. Place the cut dough on the baking sheets that are sprayed with cooking oil.
• The remaining two eggs have to be whisked and slowly skim the egg wash over the cookies. Allow it to dry for 10 minutes and do the same for the second time to give it a dark brown color. Bake the mix for 15 minutes until it becomes golden brown.

2. Best of Breed Dog Biscuits by King Arthur Flour

Ingredients:

• Premium Whole Wheat Flour or King Arthur White Whole Wheat Flour – 2 cups
• Rolled oats – 1 cup
• Dried parsley – 1 tbsp or chopped fresh parsley – 2tbsp
• Nonfat dry milk or Baker’s Special Dry Milk – ½ cup
• Salt – ½ tsp
• Eggs – 2
• Peanut butter (plain or crunchy) – 1 cup
• Cold water – ½ cup + 1 tbsp

Directions:

• Add premium whole wheat flour, rolled oats, dried/fresh parsley, nonfat dry milk, and salt to a bowl and mix it.
• To this mixture, add the eggs and peanut butter and mix it till it becomes crumbly.
• Add water till it becomes cohesive. The amount of water can vary depending on the season.
• Add the dough to baking sheets that are lightly greased and flatten them till they are ¼ inches thick.
• Using a cookie cutter, cut the dough into shapes of your choice.
• Bake the cookies for 40 to 60 minutes. The smaller ones need shorter time while the larger ones have to bake for the longer period of time.

3. Carob Crunchers by Doggy Dessert Chef

Ingredients:

• White rice flour – 1 cup
• Carob powder – ½ cup
• Cinnamon – 1 tsp
• Vanilla extract – 1 tsp
• Water – ¾ cup

Directions:

• Preheat the oven to 350°F and line the inside with baking sheets.
• Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl and knead the dough till it becomes smooth and formed. If your dough is dry, you need to add more water.
• Flatten the dough till it is ¼ inch thick and cut with small cookie cutters into shapes of your choice. Place the cut dough on the baking sheets.

Ingredients:

• Whole wheat flour - 12 oz
• Bread flour – 12 oz
• Wheat germ – 2 oz
• Salt – 1 tsp
• Brown sugar – 2 tbsp
• Flax seeds – 3 to 4 tbsp
• Eggs – 3
• Vegetable oil – 1 cup
• Powdered dry milk – 3 oz
• Water – 1 cup

Directions:

• Combine bread flour, salt, flax seeds, brown sugar, and wheat flour in a bowl. While stirring the mixture, add vegetable oil and eggs to it.
• Mix water and powdered dry milk and add the combination to the dough
• Continue to mix the dough till it becomes workable and smooth. Adjust the dough by adding a little extra water or flour as required.
• Cover the dough and let it relax for the next 15 – 20 minutes.
• Flatten the dough to ½ inches thickness and cut it into shapes of your choice using small cookie cutters. Place the cut out dough on the baking paper.
• Bake the dough at 375°F for 40 minutes or till it becomes brown and hard

5. Homemade Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats by Whole Foods Market

Ingredients:

• Banana – 1 peeled
• Oat flour – 1 cup
• Rolled oats – 2/3 cup
• Dried parsley – ½ cup
• Peanut butter – 3 tbsp
• Egg – 1, beaten

Directions:

• Preheat the oven to 300°F. Mash the banana in a bowl using a spoon. Add peanut butter, egg, parsley, oats, and oat flour to the mashed banana and stir the mixture. Keep it aside for five minutes.
• The mixture should be rolled into balls. Each ball should be made from 1 tbsp of dough approximately. Flatten the balls into a coin of 1 ½ to 2 inches thickness using a spoon.
• Bake the dough for 40 – 45 minutes or till it becomes deep golden brown.
