I was told today that my three year old Tinkerbell has Feline Leukemia. With proper care how long will she live and what is the quality of life for her? Also what is proper care? Her Doctor has her on antibiotics and has a tube in her throat to feed her until she starts eating again. Right after I got her a year ago she developed a respiratory condition and had to have the tube in her throat until she started eating and she snapped out of it, according to her blood tests she did not have leukemia at that time. Can she infect my other cats? Thank you for any help you can give me.
This is a highly contagious disease and I recommend that you have your other cats tested as well. her long term prognosis is poor especially if she is on a feeding tube at this point. Her body is more prone too infection. It is hard for me to tell you how long she will live. Some cats live long lives and some do not. There is no treatment for this virus. vetcare
