etoWe have a 9 1/2 year old White German Shepherd. She has Hip Displasia. She has only had visible symptoms for the past 7 months. She has been on Rimadyl and is currently on 300mg of Etogesic daily. Her condition has worsened severely the past two months.
She very seldom can stand, and when she does, and walks, she drags her back legs completely on the ground. Her temperment is wonderful. She seems to be in good spirits all of the time, and tries to play with the kids. She doesn't show any signs of being in pain. It is like her legs have just stopped functioning. Is there anything we can do to try and improve her quality of life, and possibly improve her condition to possibly get her legs to working again? She is a treasured family pet. Thank you.
Nothing can reverse hip dysplasia and the osteoarthritis that follows. You can try Cosequin in conjunction with the etogesic. You may also want to talk to your vet about FHO surgery but I am not sure if your pet would be a candidate. If there is no improvement on the medication steroids may help. Good luck, vetcare
