My pet lovebird didn't lay an egg for over a year. Now in the last 2 month she has laid 10 eggs. Do you feel that this is a problem that we should be concerned about, and will it harm her if the eggs are removed from the cage. Thank you for your time.
With no male the eggs are infertile and they should be removed. All nesting material should be removed and light source should be decreased. I recommend 2 hrs of daylight a day. After 1 mth the egg laying should stop and you can start with about 8 hrs a day of sunlight. The medical concern is that calcium levels are decreased with egg laying and the bird could become eggbound. Good luck, vetcare
