I had a cockerspaniel who just passed away about half an hour ago. He was 12 years old and got an upper respiratory tract infection, had mucus coming out of his nose. My father decided to give the dog tetracycline. I am applying to medical school and I know that this is a human antibiotic. The dog yelped and died about 30 to 45 minutes after receiving the medication. Is this the reason for his death? I believe that there are different drugs for dogs, correct??
Tetracycline is generally very safe. I do not know what dose your dad gave the dog and I do not know the weight of the dog. I would be surprised if it was the tetra. Good luck in medical school and sorry about your dog. vetcare
