I am about to adopt two 4 month old retriever pups with diabetes insipidous. They are happy and appear to be like any other healthy puppies. They will be on medication for life. The med is DDAVP (Desmopression Acetate Nasal Spray 5ml). First I wuld like to know if I can purchase it at a better rate than I would get buying it thru a vet. And also, what if any things should I look ahead to? Will the dogs be proned to obesity, or sun sensitivity or anything like that? I just want to think ahead so that I can provide them the best care that I can. thanks.
This is a very rare disease. I am shocked that you have 2 dogs with it. We do not sell the medication. To avoid complications avoid circumstananced that might increase water loss. Without treatment dehydration can lead to stupor, coma and death. Prognosis is good with treatment.
