My 13 year old Springer Spaniel has a lump that has been diagnosed as Mast Cells. He is going in to have it removed and a biopsy done. What is the difference in the three stages of these cells and should I consider putting him down?
This type of tumor should be surgically removed and a wide excision should be done around the tumor. The difference in the stages is the tumors likely hood to metastasize. I recommend you find out the stage before putting your pet to sleep. I see many mast cell tumors and many dogs have low grade tumors and they do well. good luck, vetcare
