My dog is a Bue Tick mix, mostly white with pink skin. Every year about this time, she starts scratching her mussel and has now started chewing on her feet.
I know this must be an allergic reaction, but to what? The grass has begun to grow again with the small amount of rain we have received. Could this be the culprit and if not, how can I determine just what it is. I have put antibiotic ointment on her mussel to heal the wounds, cut her dewclaws, but she still scratches. Can I give her Benadryl and if so in what dosage? I am an RN so I know there is something out there that can help her-short of prednisone therapy. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
You can have allergy testing done at your local vet. This will determine the allergins that are causing a problem. vetcare
