My 13 year old long hair Siamese has developed large patches of matted fur. She is an indoor cat and her problems are usually with her grooming herself. I have attempted to comb out some of the matts, but it usually results in her loosing the fur in that area. Is this the correct method of getting rid of these? or should I have her shaved?
PS.... She is not a friendly cat. The vet usually examines her from a distance (or under a towel) and will have to be sedated.
Your best bet is having her shaved down then keeping up with the combing as the hair is growing in. Maybe you can shave her down at home?? Good luck, vetcare
