Our Rottweiler puppy has been struggling w/ diahrrea the last month off & on. Our vet checked her, said she had a bacterial infection & gave her an rx of Metronidazole. We gave it to her for a week, as prescribed. The diahrrea cleared up in about a day but, when it ran out, the diahrrea returned. We called the vet & he gave her another rx of the same dose & length. The same thing happened; it cleared up until the rx ran out. We have not yet contacted the vet about this third round of trouble as the problem just returned this A.M. Is this common in rott. puppies
and what can we do to clear this up for good?
You pet may have parasites that are not being treated by the metronidazole. Bring a stool sample to your vet and ask about panancur and albon for treating parasites. You can give your pet some while rice and a small amount (1/2 the childs dose) of pepto-bismol when the diarrhea starts. Thanks, vetcarerx vet team
