My 13 year old cocker spaniel has had a dry, hacking cough for the last week. I don't believe it's canine cough since he isn't around other dogs; however, the temperature in New York has been extremely hot in the upper 90s with high humidity recently and I feel this has caused the problem. Clear mucus so possibly a cold. Any ideas?
This could be tracheitis, usually caused from a virus or bacteria. Another possibility is heart disease.. A week is a long time for a cough so I recommend a visit to the vet. vetcare
