My husband and I just adopted a Border Collie Akita Mix from the Humane Society. Recently, we have noticed that she has been killing birds, squirells and wild rabbits. We didn't consider this to be a problem until we came home and discovered that she had killed our pet rabbit. We have a cat and are scared that she may go after it. We have also noticed that she growls at the kids in the neighborhood. Is this a problem? And how can we go about teaching her that this is not appropriate behavior? I also want to add, she is very affectionate and gentle with family members. When she kills these animals she acts as if she knows she was bad. She runs and hides, ears down, and tail between her legs. Please help.
I recommend that you call a professional trainer. Your local vet should be able to recommend a good trainer. This problem needs to be taken care of quickly or it will get worse. vetcare
