Our 12 year old Shar-pei takes colchicine .6 mg twice daily as precaution for amylodosis. His mother had Shar-pei fever and swollen hocks. He too sometimes has swollen hocks and some joint pain. He also take rimadyl 150 mgs per day (100 in the am and 50 in the pm). His creatin was 1.9. sometimes he gets urinary tract infections and takes baytril. How often should his kidney and liver functioning be checked? Does this sound like reasonable medications? His mother and sister both died at 10 years of different diseases.
I recommend that you have a blood test every 6 mo unless there is a problem. vetcare
