We adopted a lab/mix last September and he has a bad problem with ear infections. Lots of yeast and he even had the surgery to flush his ears. We are currently trying ketoconazole to see if that will help. Any thoughts on this? If this doesn't work, we will then switch his food to Science Diet (the new allergy formula) and see if that helps. We have been flushing his ears 3-4 times a week. this is getting to be so expensive I am looking for any suggestions.
Some chronic ear infection need surgery especially if the cartilage in the ear is hardened. Talk to your vet about a lateral ear resection. Although, this acm be costly. A hypoallgenic diet is another excellent idea, I recommend science diet z/d. I like otomax for yeast infections in the ear. Good luck, vetcare
