I have an 11 year old male Bichon Frise and he keeps getting ear infections, tonsilitis, inflamed ears. My Vet here tells me it's allergies to probably something he is eating and I've changed his diet to eliminate beef, potatoes, etc. He now eats One with chicken and rice but his allergies have not gone away. We had him on Prednisone several times, ear wash plus ear drops and nothing has helped. Cann you tell me if there is a new medication I could ask my Vet for that would help him more than the Prednisone? My dog is already overweight by 2 to 3 pounds and I don't want him any heavier, but he eats too much on the Prednisone and I only feed him once a day. I also have a 5 year old female Bichon Frise who doesn't have the same problem with Allergies (she is his daughter). If you could give me any advice or instructions, I'd sure appreciate a second opinion.
First, i recommend allergy testing so you can determine whay exactly you pet is allergic too. Second, you can talk to your vet about Temaril-p. This is a low dose steroid and antihistamine. Good luck, vetcare
