My dog has suffered for 2 years from a chronic ear infection. he has been to 2 vets and I have tried EVERYTHING. They clean the ear , its only in 1 ear, then give me topical creams like Otomax. I follow the instructions and the ear clears up for a week or so , then as soon as the ear medication runs out, it starts up again. Sometimes i can hear fluid in his ear. It seems to itch more than hurt, but I want to STOP his discomfort, i am desperate! Is there no oral of injectible antibiotic that will help? Someone told me about another product called Dermapet which worked for his dog but i cant find it, please offer some advice! thankyou very much.
To be perfectly honest with you, if you have been fighting this for 2 years with antibiotics then the dermapet will not work. Dermapet is only a cleaner not an antibiotic. You should try Baytril otic 2 x daily for 3 weeks. If this does not work and the situation is hopeless then I recommend a surgical procedure called a lateral ear resection. It opens up the ear canal and really helps the ear drain. It solves the problem once and for all. Talk to your vet about it and if he/she does not do the procedure find a vet that does. Good luck, vetcare
