My 14 year old dog, who has never been ill, has begun to urinate inside the house. He has been an outdoor dog for years, but as he got older, I allowed him to sleep in the basement on cold nights. For over three years we've had no problems, but in the last two months, he urinates and defecates in the basement and has started to urinate on the main floor of the house. Otherwise he is in great shape. Could this be a sign of dementia or possibly a urinary infection? I'm at my wits end. I don't want to put him down, but I can't put up with this problem either.
This could be both problems that you mentioned. I recommend a visit to the vet for some tests. This may be treatable. vetcare
