My vet told me there is no test for sezures. I know from watching animal planet they do treat them. All I do is hold him while he`s going through them. BO is a male Doxie 4 years old about 15-18lbs.He had the first when he was 1years. then 11 months another lasting about 15 monutes. The third 9months later then about three months apart now . I hope you can help I love him so.
We usually treat dogs with phenobarbitol if they seizure more then 2 x within a 6 week period of time. The worst thing you can do is hold your pet while seizuring b/c the more stimulation ( touch, light, noise) the longer the seizure can last. Not to mention you can get hurt. I recommend a bile acids test and a cbc/chem. If your pet has idiopathic epilepsy then it does not show up on the blood tests. vetcare
