My 7 year old Chihuahua was diagnosed in November with allergies and nasal congestion. He was prescribed Amoxil for 10 days. He was also being boarded at the time, which does not make him very happy. So, when the vet tried to examine him and take a nose culture he became very aggressive. Needless to say, a culture could not be obtained. Almost 7 months later, he still has A LOT of nasal congestion with a lot of fluid. He often sneezes and LOADS of mucus comes. I begin to wipe his nose and more and more mucus comes. I have not taken him back to the vet since a nasal culture cannot be done due to his aggression. Any suggestions? Is this very harmful to him to have it this long?
I recommend that you bring him to the vet. Your vet can always sedate your pet to do the things that need to be done. It seems to me that a culture is a good idea. vetcare
