I have a 5 months old Alaskan Malmute. He has runny soft stools but not like dirrhea. He has had his stools this way since we got him at 5 weeks. Is this normal? An is there something I can give him in his diet to help? He is growing very well and seems happy and healthy. He has a large appetite. Also he drinks a lot of water a day someone told me his breed does drink alot or could it be something else?
The diarrhea can be many things including parasites, diet, bacteria overgrowth, pancreatic insufficiency and inflammatory bowel disease. I have seen many young huskies with IBD and they usually respond to Eukanuba low residue diet. Some even grow out of it. Yur vet should screen for these diseases. The water many be normal but a simple blood test will tell you for sure. vetcare
