Katie is a 14 year old Chesapeak Bay Retreiver. I have had her since she was three. When she was 6 or 7 she started to have gaging fits where it almost seemed that she had something lodged in her throat. (I also used to smoke in the house and she was with me all day long). Just recently she is getting short of breath very quickly and my vet said she has a bad heart murmur. He gave her laysyx but said her lungs sound clear. The heat really makes her weeze and turning on the A/C really helps....any other suggestions on what may be wrong with her?
Your pet could have chronic bronchitis (from the smoke) or heart dz. Did the lasix work? Did your vet work up your pets heart. Your pet should have a chest x-ray and an echocardiogram to help determine if cardiac medicine will help. Good luck, vetcare
