My dog occassionally has attacks similar to what I can only think of as an asthma attack -- when he would suddenly stop, start hacking, and gasp for air for for several seconds. A friend, who's also a dog-owner, assures me that this is normal for dogs. Is she correct, or do I have a cause for concern?
Asthma is unusual in dogs but a collapsing trachea and "backward sneeze" are common. A physical exam with the vet should be able to help with a diagnosis. vetcare
