My cat is a carrier of feline calicivirus and it only effects his mouth. I've removed all of his bottom teeth at the recommendation of one doctor and it has gotten better, but has not gone away completely. I need a regular supply of clindamycin hydrochloride - oral liquid antibotic for him, when his mouth becomes sore. But most vets won't keep giving it to me on a regular basis unless they require office visits, etc and I come away with the same answer--nothing to do but time. I don't need more office visits, I simply need the medicine. Is there a over the counter liquid antibiotic that I can give to my cat when his mouth starts up without bothering the vet and having the doctors looks at me and tell me I am a bad owner.
Sorry, but no otc meds that will do what clindamycin does. Ask your vet for a rx with refills the next time. Either way yopu will probably need to visit the vet periodically. vetcare
