I came home last night to find my dog coughing and hacking. If he was a cat I would be expecting him to cough up a hairball. He showed no signs of illness when I left the same morning. He spent the day in the house (no other animals. The cough seems to get worse if he gets excited. This morning he is still coughing. We have a fenced yard and I always have him leashed for walks. Could he have kennel cough if he hasn't been boarded or around other animals? What else might cause this symptom?
mnay things can cause coughing including kennel cough, tracheitis, congestive heart failure, Tracheal foreign body, bronchitis, etc.. I recommend a visit to the vet if there is no improvement. vetcare
